Sorry leaf, no one buys video. It doesn't make anyone the same amount of money as photos. And the photos shouldn't be so cheap either.
Meh, its fotolia...if I had to wish any of those companeis die off, I'd hope its them

Nothing has changed. Still getting rejections.
I will be cutting every one of my photos from 21 MP to 4 MP. I dont' care if its an extra step, but SS doesn't deserve my 21 MP files for the amount of hassle and little pay they give me for them.

10 years ago, Mac was the way to go because Photoshop was programmed for MAC not PC and there were bugs all over the place. Now the coding is being specialized a lot more and with the processors being very similar in both mac and pc, adobe is optimizing photoshop and lightroom to run on both. i'm comfortable with PC, and i like being able to run other stuff so i don't have any problems there. the only bonus is that there are no constant virus threats, but maybe thats just because no one really cares enough about macs to write them?

For all you guys to read http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/big-three.shtmlI have a 30D and a 5DII, and I love them both. And I can take photos just as technically good as your D3's, D3x's and A900s. Its time we focused on the photographers skills and maybe the glass in front of these insane machines Happy Holidays

Christmas is about religion. and it pisses me off that people give gifts on Christmas and pretend like they know what its all about when they aren't christian. Make your own holiday and give gifts if thats the case. and you know what, Festivus sounds really good for people like them. Maybe the airing of grievances will enlighten them a bit. I just hate how people adopt religions when it suits them.
NO Christmas is about the birth of the son of God not about religion. Religon is a man made concept meant to help mankind explain and understand that which can not be understood. One does not have to have a tie to organized religion to be spirtual and or be Christian. I don't need a priest and a congregation to have a personal relationship with the son of God or to live by a simple set of spiritual principals and religion is not a mandate of Christmas celebration.
you also don't need jesus or christmas for principles either...what you need is a book by john stuart mills or nietzsche ...or umm...say the ridiculous laws the govern whatever country you live in funny, those principles are a direct result from that very 'religion' that you don't need as part of the Christmas celebration. the idea behind church and congregation is a sense of community, something that lacks at the very deepest core of society...and the isolationist perspective is a wonderful way of demonstrating that...sad to see it spreading... i'm not having this argument...its not worth the effort i'm going to go have my christmas meal, which ironically is with me and other people, not the son of God, who respectfully declined my invitation this year

They aren't making sense at all. I have three theories:
They can't hire a single competent reviewer - possibly true, because everyone is having the same problems.
They are trying to be badasses to scare away all the people they accepted and shouldn't be there/don't want there, thus are now flooding with horrible photos?
They have an algorithm they are testing and its horrible. Still no communication. Pretty horrible.

Some germans are ok,some are not.You can decide which group you belong .....
Well, if this "horray" puts me into the non-ok-german corner - so be it. Though I don't know how my birthplace could have influenced my opinion concerning your istock ban ... What if I was not a German?!
Seeing some of the original shank posts, I can kind of see why they banned him IF he acted in the same way on those forums. Germans are cool

Well needless to say I'm constantly uploading the rejections that I feel should have been accepted in the first place, and after a certain point they get accepted anyways.
The reviewers have to get themselves out of that tunnel they think photos should be like and start looking for something commercially viable outside that. I've made all my microstock money without business images. And I'm proud of it but I've had to fight over and over to get them online

Just to update: Rejected 10/12 because of poor lighting/composition
yes, because I can control the lighting (which these files have been accepted (90% of them) on all other sites) and some where aerial landscape shots. Rejection reasons are complete garbage. Bothers me to no end.
Especially when you take a picture of a beaver and its in the middle of the water. Composition is fairly good for the situation and would be prove to be a classical nature shot but its got composition issues? Well Mr. Reviewer, why don't you grab a camera and go and do the same shot. Be my guest and step on the frozen river, because if you fall in, I won't help you out. Thank you SS for making your contributors feel like crap.
PS - I have 1600 pictures online. I think I'm pretty good at this stuff by now.
Sorry I had to rant

Yes and without supply there is no end product. So if you piss off all your suppliers, where does that get you? If your suppliers know that you don't want wood but you want steel, for example, then they will stop giving you wood if you tell them. If you don't, you are going to receive a fresh shipment of that wood you don't want. And the backlash is justified because SS has a poor record of demonstrating communication.
Why can't they all merge into one super-site that gives us what we want and contains all the best attributes of all the sites?

All I want is for adequate, transparent communication to contributors. Random increases in rejections with no policy change is not fair to contributors. And I think SS should cap the number of uploads per 5 day period per contributor. Perhaps this can give them a chance to go through and cull the old, nasty file. Protects the little guy a bit, and at the same time, works on creating a quality database. Starting with the next uploaded batch is not the complete answer, but going backwards in time and getting the old, bad photos out is where it should start.
iStock (as bad a rep as some of us give them in the forums for ridiculous rejections and their policies towards non-exclusives) is always posting the current happenings in some form or another. At least they try to keep everyone informed to a certain degree.

Its here...and its AWESOME.
No, 1600 doesn't look like 100 but it does look great and I can't wait to get it out into action. Went to 3200 in RAW and its lovely compared to the 30D
Will try to see how it goes with some indoor hockey later this week and try up to 1600...could be awesome

I ordered it around October 20th from Henry's. Probably should have ordered earlier but whatever. I just haven't heard anything lately so I'm getting really annoyed with the customer service at Henry's. I call them once every week or two and they shrug me off now.
Good to hear that the cameras are coming in faster than they expected. I do have a preorder, hopefully something comes through soon.

Does anyone know anything at all about the status of the 5D2's and Canadian orders? It seems like we've been shafted as a country.

Some of you are nuts...she's 14 and probably doesn't have a clue how to use a camera properly yet - and you want to get pro-version glass for a 14 yr old?
75-200 or whatever they have now is fine. Learn to shoot first, buy the good stuff when it makes sense.

When you try to look on his portfolio on DT it now says "This member's rights are suspended."
yep, I respect DT for such actions. They do the things they must do.
good to know. i always thought dreamstime is cool to be with!
I agree. They pay quickly. They are very good with their acceptances. I do get some weird rejections, but the agency itself being so cool do deal with makes it easier to just carry on.

A hA! finally someone can be made an example of to show that this industry is serious about their rules. Up until now nothing has been really done in the spotlight to publicly humiliate those losers and set the tone for others (because there are probably others just the same)

If he's so concerned with dropping profits, I'm still surprised he's going around training his competition. That doesn't make any sense to me.
Make its profitable in the future he is making himself a name as succesful microstocker and a good teacher after that he will publish a book about it which may is a good seller.
huh?
