All, During recent email "conversations" with MostPhotos personnel I was told the following which I would like to share with you: Mostphotos has during the past months worked extremely hard on attracting photo-buyers to the site in order to increase their sale numbers. The number one request that is coming from potential buyers is that they want to see MostPhotos Image Library much larger.
According to MostPhotos, several large buyers have been registered and having made significant cash deposits purchasing credits and are ready to buy. Many of these buyers have commented on the fact that they find photos at MostPhotos that they do not find elsewhere.
I have heard that MostPhotos is selling photos daily and sales are growing rapidly. In order to capitalize on this growth spurt, MostPhotos needs more images and portfolios to further accelerate its growing buyer base. If you find this information was helpful and are considering joining MostPhotos in the future here is my referral link: http://mostphotos.com/index.php?mwp1969=3065 Mark
My take on what I heard ... in an effort to get this thread back on track as there are other threads here on MSG for the entire "voting" issue ... is that they've landed a large group of buyers and they have their cash deposits in hand. Sales are increasing daily and they are growing rapidly ... If this is true ... it sounds like they are turning on all wheels. Mark

I guess this is why we might see more and more traditional buyers moving to the subscription model:
With new price structure: For the same price of 20 XL images, buyers can now buy a $200 subscription and get 750 any size images.
Even worse, for the price of 14 XXL images, buyers can now buy a $200 subscription and get access to 750 XXL images
I know it's a bit extreme but that's just to illustrate the obvious problem. I think the gap is way to tempting and something should be done, like either restrict sub to smaller sizes up to L, or charge more sub credits for larger sizes.
Many people "downsize" to 4mp to compensate for this when submitting to ShutterStock to avoid that very issue. However if you were to do that at a hybrid type site: StockXpert, DT etc. that has both subs and credits you shoot yourself in the foot for getting Larger file credit sales to those that don't have subscriptions. Many of these buyers have commented on the fact that they find photos at MostPhotos that they do not find elsewhere.
They should employ reviewers then !!!!!!
NO... that's the point... reviewers tend to reject images that the buyers WANT... buyers are changing their paradigm to want shots that don't look too highly polished or overprocessed... reviewers are kind of stuck in that plastic-perfect "look" that the microstocks have long chased after.
This is the good thing about MostPhotos! Buyers want to be able to look at images that did not go through that narrow funnel we know as the approval/rejection process at the microstocks.
I am a graphic designer by trade and I know that my clients are wanting more edgy, realistic looking shots nowadays... and we have to give them what they want!
Personally I like the MostPhotos' business model and am thrilled to see the industry moving toward pricing the images higher and letting US decide that should and should not be in our portfolios. I know, you say that's opening up a huge can of worms with bad photography and storage issues... but its a peer-policing rating system that I appreciate... its always fun to see a nasty, icky photograph get a negative rating which keeps it out of the search completely.
Check it out before you make any kind of judgment about it.
As evidence to your point suwanneeredhead, I recieved my first sale there from a photo that was previously rejected at some of the microstock sites. Also being paid originally in Euros is a strong plus with a falling dollar here in the US. Mark

Just noticed this post from a buyer in the StockXpert forum:-
http://www.stockxpert.com/forum.phtml?f=showtopic&n=11342&p=2
It's the second post from buyer 776500. He seems to be saying that as a subs buyer, he uses 5 times as many credits to download an XL, as he does when downloading a small, but we still get 30 cents.
I had a look at subs but couldn't see anything.
Is this correct? Maybe Steve-oh could confirm or deny.
If that is true ... then it is even one more reason to be opted out of subsciption sales If it is possible to operate a subsciption model like that, and they ultimately increased commissions to the contributor for XL sub sales ... then they might see a few contributors opting back in as I know that's been discussed here on the forums before. I have opted out of subs at StockXpert as well.
My belief is that if a buyer see's what they need for credits and it is not offered anywhere they have a subscription, then they will still go ahead and purchase it for credits if it is what they need for their project.

Hi everyone! We've been having some technical difficulties since early March/late Feb which explains the long wait period in some cases. The issues have now been resolved and it should all be back to normal very soon.
We apologize for this inconvenience and we appreciate your patience. The longest it should take for application reviews is ten days but we try our hardest to keep it to a two to three day wait.
Thanks again for your applications and patience. You will get answer soon.
Thanks for the update SEB_P

All, Today I got my first sale at Featurepics. Its been an interesting story ... after trying my pricing all over the place $8, $6, $2, $5, for a couple of months with no results I was frustrated. I told myself if I was going to have to wait, then I might as well be paid well for any sale there. I rasied my price to $10.00 for all images with allowing resizing. The next day I got a sale for $4.00 with a commission of $2.80 Note: Its a picture that I have on all of my sites. Mark

Things happen slowly there approval wise but they seem to be worth the wait. There appears to be a significant amount of traffic there which has translated into sales for me in my first month of being there.

It took me a long time to work this out but sites that pay a low commision and spend lots of money on advertising are better than those that pay us a high commission but don't attract buyers.
I am sticking with crestock, I liked the 70% commission with FP but they don't seem to advertise. 70% of their sales is very little.
I get 30% commission for pay per download sales with CS and $0.25 for subscription sales. They have made a lot more $ for me than FP and several other sites that have a better commission. This is probably because they spend money on big adverts in design magazines.
I agree with Sharpshot regarding the comparison to FP. 70% of nothing is still nothing on over 100 images that I've had there for a couple of months. I very much liked hearing about the major advertising and marketing in design magazines. I think I'll try uploading there once again ... Mrk

I seemed to remeber being told by a member of MSG that not only the order is important, but it is equally important to sequence them in the proper order if they read in a specific fashion

Here is the link if you want to check it out ... Airplane Deicing Operations http://www.dreamstime.com/airplane-deicing-operations-image4162817
Great shot! But if you had cloned the TED out and some logos on the trucks, you could have had uploaded it as commercial stock and made much more, since it's a fantastic shot.
Flemish, The alternate version, I do have, and it is selling already
