I'm confused by "race to the bottom" - I'm assuming you mean a downward trend in RPDL, and I'm not seeing that at all. I've been doing this for three years, and prices have gone nowhere but consistently and steadily up.
I agree. I wonder where people are getting their stats. Yes, some agencies are squeezing for as much profit as possible, but prices still seem to be rising.

Let me copy my cheat sheet 123rf: jpg + eps (from the site only, ftp doesn't work for vectors) BigStock: eps only CS: jpg + zipped eps FT: zip (jpg + eps) they don't need svg anymore. I upload jpg also in a zipp cos then itpc loads up on the site DT: jpg attach eps. When you have a pending jpg file go to edit page and upload eps from there (I think it says upload additional formats). IS: jpg + eps (additional zip possible) MP: jpg (they dont accept vectors) SS: jpg + eps StockXpert: jpg + zipped eps (well you don't need this one anymore)
This looks like a pretty good cheat sheet. Photoshop and Illustrator action scripts are your friend. So are Automator scripts for the Mac (If you use a Mac. I'm sure the PC has something similar). And here you thought it was going to be all fun and games drawing pictures.

Yeah, I'm not sure an exclusive option would work well there. A raise would be nice though.

I called istock support yesterday and asked they be removed. The woman I spoke to said that she would put my name on a list and they would be removed in 24-48 hours. Thanks. My portfolio is still growing there, so I guess I'll put in a support ticket on IS.

It seems like they are feverishly adding them. There are more now than when I looked earlier. I unchecked the box on StockXpert, so hopefully that will put a stop to it.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the images there? I'm pretty cautious when it comes to stock, so I'd rather make a decision than have my images just thrown up there. Plus, I was pretty much disgusted by the previews for my CMYK vectors. They need to work out the kinks before I even think about making a decision.

Also, crossing my fingers, toes and everything else for a raise at SS.

Considering Shutterstock outsells every other site in subs, I'd say it is whatever you get at Shutterstock will be the average. Since I get .38 at SS and FT and IS vector subs are pretty sweet, I'd guess mine were above you're poll chart, but that may not be the average. But, who cares about everyone else. Just kidding.

I got the following:
SS DT FT BigStock
I think that's all of them.
Ditto. But who knows. There may be more?

Somebody did a crap job making the jpeg previews for this site. The few images of mine that migrated there look like complete garbage and the colors are an RGB mess. Not to mention that most of the images are blurry and not sharp.

That's a shame. The big 5 just became the big 4.
I thought I read that the owners were starting some sort of stock logo company. I don't remember where though, so don't quote me.

Just in case it helps: A fotolia employee on the German forum confirmed that the credit value will stay the same for contributors and will vary for buyers from $ 0,75 to $ 1,20 (or Euros, GBP respectively) according to how many credits are purchased.
I assume we will get more per sale or are they just going to keep the extra?

Agreed. For example - a commission raise or an added top tier over the .38 at SS might give some incentive to stay independent.
That would be nice. Personally, I'd love to see some kind of tiers for larger files and vectors. Maybe, they count as two or more downloads like FT does with vector subs.

Bookmarked! Nice to see my burglar illustration as the poster child for image theft.

My husband's class and everything they said was COMPLETELY omitted from the story. It wasn't even mentioned, as if the guy had never even been there.
Well, it takes time to rewrite your article to match reality. That's why sports writers don't like close games. As far as the original post, 2009 was a rough year for a lot of people. I had a lot of friends that were let go from long time jobs. I count myself lucky that my freelancee work was steady and microstock was a constant earner. My piece of the microstock pie actually grew nicely last year. So if this is microstock in a recession, I'd love to see it when it comes out of it.

It should be interesting. I'm hoping it is some sort of iTunes for print (books, magazines, etc.). I think that would open up a lot of creative jobs if successful.

If we are talking unconditional support, then no. If we are talking uploading a small sample to test the waters, then probably. If it was getting decent reviews, then I would probably check it out and upload an initial sample portfolio.

I think it was Shutterstock that bugged me with their 1099's. They would do December through November payments instead of January through December. Or they'd send you two from two different companies. It's not a big deal to me, but I would just prefer not to get them.
Edit: I was just thinking if all my stock agencies and freelance clients sent me 1099's if they paid me over $600, I'd have a lot of paperwork to go through at the end of the year.

I'd prefer they didn't send them. They just screw with my own accounting. I'm definitely not waiting around for them to show up in the mail to do my taxes.

Ah, I see.
I think it would be hard to make a dent in that number. It's like buying 10 lottery tickets instead of 1. Your odds don't improve much.

Sales are way down there this month for me as well. It's mostly the pay per download and StockXpert subs that are slumping. It could just be the month because Fotolia is pretty quiet too.

I don't really see how you could ever compare most agencies. How much does a credit cost? How many credits do you have to buy? How much does a subscription package cost? Are the images the same size?

What does the number mean? Mine is about the same.
