Dreamstime.com / Re: Dreamstime acceptance rates going up?
« on: March 27, 2009, 09:40 »
Yes, I've noticed my photos have been reviewed much faster.
Thank you  :)

BME on SS and StockXpert for sure and possibly BigStock . . . and will be BME overall. :)

They changed the look of the "My Earnings" page. :-\

This would be a good opportunity :)
It actually overwhelms me since I work so small right now with a piece of curved white poster board outside in bright cloudy conditions for good lighting of small isolated objects. My company does have a couple of umbrella lights but I think the bulbs are wrong, too dim.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Got Flames?
« on: March 17, 2009, 13:08 »
Only one flamer so far with another one about 8 downloads away and have been a contributor at IS for about 1 year. The flamer, which I never thought in a million years would be popular, took off after being online for one month, peaked on month 4, died when they changed the best match and put my best sellers in the back and now it is selling consistently again almost 1 year online.

General - Top Sites / Re: Is iStock worth the effort?
« on: March 17, 2009, 12:17 »
Well worth the effort in my opinion. I have very close to 300 images online in about one year and over 800 downloads (no people shots). IS has consistently been my #1 agency with sales that equal about 36% of my income among 7 agencies. This year I have been focusing on quality, not quantity. Don't mind the upload process at all and I have a Yahoo widget that makes a cash register sound every time I get a download (sjlocke probably wouldn't use this widget with the sound because it would drive him crazy ;))

OD downloads have been 41% of my total sales this month. Best ever. :)

General Photography Discussion / Gigantic Seamless Backdrop
« on: March 13, 2009, 10:13 »
Just wanted to share this with you guys. :)
My company (ad agency) recently had this huge seamless backdrop in our building painted white to use for a client job. You could probably fit a car on it. The curved part is made out of plywood and plaster and you have to wear foot protectors to walk on it (boxes in foreground). They said I could use it any time but unfortunately I don't have any lighting equipment yet.  :-\

My little wasp isolated on white has sold hundreds of times on both SS and FT. Photos that you never thought in a million years would do well take off sometimes. Don't mind so long as people keep downloading them. :)

I bought a Canon 40D last year when I had trouble getting into IS.
I always have the Powershot G7 in my purse.  :)

Newbie Discussion / Re: Recommendations for a newcomer
« on: February 17, 2009, 09:27 »
Dreamstime does not have an initial review of photos like IS and SS which means you can begin uploading immediately and your acceptance rate will affect the placement of your photos in a search so upload your best work.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: start again?
« on: February 11, 2009, 11:04 »
I resubmit almost every photo that is allowed. Working as a graphic artist I will sometimes go through seven rounds of revisions on a project so IS asking to fix something on a photo and resubmit seems totally normal. In about a year on IS have 276 photos online. Probably about 1/2 of those were resubmitted.

I wish we could use these features in real life  ;)

Shutterstock.com / Re: How did SS perform for you this month?
« on: January 29, 2009, 13:35 »
BME for on demand sales :)
Overall, SS is the most consistent from month to month while all the others vary radically with a relatively small portfolio and almost a year in microstock.

Print on Demand Forum / Re: Sold one business card again! :D
« on: January 22, 2009, 19:35 »
It doesn't take much time at all to set up the artwork. I have a psd template that has the business card size plus the bleed built in and add new layers for new designs.

Can you use your photos from RF sites!?

Yes! Or even parts of photos that were never used.

Yay! Finally sold one. I'll make some more now. Only had about 30 and it seems that simpler is best.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Vector Artist wannabes!
« on: January 19, 2009, 15:33 »
Bottom line, no one out there has the right to tell any person what he/she can or cannot do. Really, it is not our concern if a photographer wants to create illustrations and upload them as vectors. It actually makes good business sense to be versatile and competent in as many areas as possible.
