Based on posts I've read on the Adobe Stock Discord, when a contributor is found to have AI images that go against the terms of service, their account has a temporary block put on it while they are given the opportunity to clean up their account and delete all the problematic images. So it may be that Adobe has temporarily blocked a lot of accounts rather than culling 100's of thousands of images themselves.

Well, I just broke my own rule and uploaded 3 illustrations after noon on Friday. And sure enough, 2 were rejected. Why do I break my own rules .... why, why, why?

People are uploading AI images on Adobe with the names of the artists they copied included in the title...
All those images have already been taken down

I'll call this the "We don't give a $h1t" collection
Good finds! I've posted 3 of them in the AS Discord #qualitycontrol channel.

This may just be me, but it seems that I have more problems on weekends with my uploaded illustrations. So much so that I now stop uploading images after Friday mornings and only start again on Monday mornings to avoid issues that weekend reviewers give me.
You know what? I've kind of been feeling the same way! I'll upload images early in the week only and see if the situation improves.

istock/Getty sales are doing well for me and I think I made the right decision to start uploading there again after a hiatus of many years. I figured if every other agency has dropped to their level then theres no point in me ignoring them anymore. I refuse to let them have my 4K videos though, so I downsize them to HD before uploading. Not sure if this strategy make sense, but videos on Getty are so severely undervalued to most customers and I dont want my 4K animations that took a lot of work and rendering selling for 2 cents.
As for stills, they are selling really well on iS/Getty compared to other sites and I am thinking about Photo Exclusivity, however I am getting a high amount of image rejections on iStock and barely any rejections on other sites. I am mostly submitting digitally rendered abstract fractal backgrounds and the rejections tend to be for the reason that there isnt a clear concept or narrative element. These rejections seem to be very inconsistent and subjective depending on the reviewer. My abstract images that make it through iStock review are selling well, however the rate of rejections is one reason Im holding back from exclusivity at the moment.

Two different images, two different contributors - one premium, one standard collection. Both the same size. Both are AI, but they are uncannily similar
I checked these out and they are both by the same contributor, Rafa Fernandez, but the Premium one is submitted via Addictive Stock, an agency of Spanish "photographers". https://addictivestock.com/item/460136

Also, about the keyword thing, I was submitting some content several weeks ago and I kept noticing that the keyword suggestions on the file upload page were vastly inaccurate. It was like they were the keyword suggestions for some other image entirely. There was absolutely zero relationship to my images, whereas normally I would see at least some accuracy but this was very unusual. It wasn't a big deal for me as I write my own keywords but as I found it highly unusual, I tried to send a support ticket about this bug but there was a technical issue and my query couldn't be sent. By the time I was next uploading content, about a week later, the keyword suggestions were back to normal.

Are the dollar signs are a mistake in the transcript, where it says, "The average number of new contributors every month has also doubled over last year. We went from $2.4 million in Q1 to $2.7 million contributors in Q2. This is the largest uptick we have ever had in contributors in the 20-plus year history of Shutterstock. As a result, our content library is now at $784 million licensable assets making Shutterstock the world's largest licensable and ethically sourced creative content marketplace." ?

Turns out there are two separate portfolios each with a batch of very, very similar sunset-beach-palm-tree pictures. No copying, just whatever tool they used has apparently only got so many ways to deliver results.
My guess is that these two accounts belong to the same contributor. Probably using multiple accounts to get around upload limits.

That image was less than a week in the queue.
Havent those of you uploading been waiting 3-4 weeks?
That will be because AI can now be submitted as Photos so long as it looks like it could have been taken by a camera, and people are reporting 1 week review times in the Photos queue.

To be fair to all contributors, please allow 3D artists to also submit their photorealistic renders as Photos.

TBH I should probably go exclusive with them for images only (not video - I would never go back to exclusive video on iStock/Getty). I've only recently been uploading images to iStock and am finding it a much easier place to grow sales compared to Adobe Stock as the influx of AI on Adobe has really changed the landscape for non-AI illustration contributors. Despite having fewer images and a lower royalty rate my sales and income are now well ahead on iStock. But I am interested to wait to see what Adobe Stock contributors will get from Firefly / Generative Fill revenue.

The collection is now over 11 million gen AI images (there are more but they're not marked. I can't know which the 11 millionth is, but how about this one of a waterslide no one should ever go on:
The death trap water slide has now been removed since I posted it on the Adobe Stock Discord

That's a nice idea, and I have thousands of examples I could offer, but I'm not allowed to post in that channel. I'm not level 10 (whatever level of activity that means) so I can't participate.
I posted the deadly waterslide one for you!

Adobe Stock has a Discord server for contributors and it now includes a "Quality-Control" channel where contributors can post links to images that should not have been accepted in the first place, and these will be passed on to moderation for re-consideration.

There are already plenty of AI videos on Adobe Stock, so I think Adobe should act swiftly to either implement the Gen AI checkbox for videos, or make the no AI videos policy clearer. Weve seen what a headache it has been for them to not have the Generative AI checkbox implemented until months after AI images started to be accepted, so hopefully they can learn from that and avoid the same mess with videos.
