Third quarter sales (2010) have been posted. Just got an email from Yay. You need to look under your "referral earnings" to see it. Good luck to you all! Regards, David.

Thanks, Scott, for clarifying that. Much appreciated. Not the answer I was hoping for (obviously) but at least I know where I am. There's no problem continuing to uploading to both sites for me -but I do have had a lot more accepted at Shutterstock than at Bigstock so I was hoping to double my port overnight with you (especially my archive celeb shots -selling at SS and rejected for "grain" at BS  :'(). But, anyway, thanks again for your response. Kind regards, David.

How dissapointing! I've been waiting for this to go live since December (and hoping they would do this for a lot longer) but now it seems it's only for selected contributors. I've read all the info over and over but still have the same question. Is this just initially for selected people and then intended to be available to everyone down the line? Or is it only ever going to be for selected portfolios? I can't tell one way or the other from what's been said so far. Anyone know any more on that one? I know Scott from Bigstock follows this forum so perhaps he would be kind enough to let us know. Regards, David.

Nothing for me.  You know your portfolio is really bad when even fraudulent buyers don't want your stuff.   :P ;D

I was in the same position too Warren but just had an adjustment of minus $1, which I assume was my image of Margaret Thatcher downloaded at 4.59am on December 31. It's not a big financial "loss" but it is sickening to think someone is making use (and money) out of my image. And will that affect legitimate future sales of the image? Possibly not I suppose as people buying dodgy CDs of stolen images probaly wouldn't have ever been legit buyers anyway.
I'll add my appreciation to Scott for coming on here and updating us (a good example to other agencies). I certainly wouldn't expect you to give details of your anti fraud measures or any new ones being implemented! I don't know if this is just in the UK but when I purchase online using my debit or credit card I get re-directed to the card issuer (e.g. my bank) and have to enter a password before the transaction completes. Seems pretty foolproof to me -short of someone hacking my password. No one wants to make it difficult for genuine buyers to download images but maybe a simple system like that would help (or is that already in place internationally?). Regards, David.

Thanks David and Warren for your responses. David, I did find the YAY listing after I posted and was able to read through a few things. Guess I'll just hang loose like everyone else. Just seems unusual for them to not at least post some kind of update. But could be Christmas is slowing things down with people taking off. I guess that's what happens when you have a small crew working and doing everything. Hope you all had a great Christmas and have a wonderful New Year.  Carolyn

You are welcome Carolyn. For what it's worth I submitted a batch the day or so after Christmas (more Get A Life than Living Life perhaps!) and they were all reviewed by the next morning - so things are still happening there. Have a great New Year yourself! Kind regards, David.

Didn't there used to be a thread that was supposed to be the main one for YAY communications? The one that was supposed to take the place of their forum? I can't seem to find it now. Can someone point me to it. I've sent messages to YAY but am not getting a response from them. Curious as to whether anyone has seen third-party results from the 3rd qtr yet. 4th qtr will be over soon and still nothing from end of September. Thanks.

Nothing here yet Carolyn, though Linda did post that they hoped to have them before Christmas. Regarding a Yay thread - I don't think there is any particular one that they respond to. If you don't already know you can find all Yay threads by clicking on "forum" at the top left of this page. Then scan down to New sites/low earners and you'll find a Yay category which has all related threads on it. Here is one example http://www.microstockgroup.com/yaymicro/third-party-sales/. Wishing you well with your third party sales when they do come. Kind regards, David.

As far as I know this has always happened. Back in 1974 I freelanced for my local newspaper the Crawley Advertiser and we sold prints to the public. It was basically just memento prints for those in the photo or their friends and relatives. My dad bought one of his prize cauliflower and the cup he got for it! It's just done on the web these days rather than phoning the "print sales" department. OK nostalgia trip over...Regards, David. Oh, and I just got back from my parents and that photo is still being proudly displayed!

Looks like their website is down.  Was up late yesterday but right now I am getting a 500 error message.

I was getting that this morning, but then after a few attempts I managed to log in OK. Now back to the 500 error message again. Regards, David.

Oooops.  Looks like it is in BETA and not ready to be rolled out yet.

It does sound like a really great program and I am eager to try it out, but apparently it's not being released at the moment.

Sorry for the confusion  :-[

Thanks for the update Lisa. Will just wait in hope then........Regards, David,

Wow! I hope this means what I think. I can have my entire SS port available on BS? Over 900 on SS and just 400 odd on BS. I've been banging on about this on my blog ever since the buyout! That said, I'm not getting the pop up either yet. That would be a very nice Christmas present if it happens like that. We'll see...Regards, David (now back to SS to try and get that pop up).

Hi David

I used Windows Live Movie Maker.  It's a free download as part of the Microsoft Windows Live group of programs.  This is an extremely simple program to use and for simple projects such as my post it is ideal.

Thanks Ken, I have that already -just never used it! Will have to give it a go sometime. Thanks again, David.

Re images.  I'm still trying out for IS & SS, but so far failing the test, usually due to low commercial value.  I'm sure they're right, but frustrating nevertheless.  It's just that the factory-made images don't inspire me.  I guess I'll just have to get over that hurdle - it's a me thing.

Regards
Ken

Keep trying Ken, I just watched the video and I'm sure you would get plenty of sales at Shutterstock with those images, once accepted. I wouldn't mind trying to do a video like that myself -can I ask how you made it (what software etc) ? Good luck with your sales! Regards, David.

Anyone had any news on the 3rd quarter, Third Party Sales yet? The last payout was September 1, so it's now well over three months since then. Maybe they're saving them up as a Christmas present for us ;D Regards, David.

Yes, no thumbnails showing for me either -just the image numbers. Luckily, I work from a list of file numbers I want to upload so just clicked on those. You can still do multiple uploads by holding down control and clicking on a number of image numbers, they then just upload one by one. Seems a backward step though that you cannot see which images you are uploading. Hopefully, just a temporary thing. Regards, David.

Just sold my first editorial there.  Hoping good things to follow.

Congratulations Warren, I also just sold my first editorial image. I was starting to wonder when the editorial stuff would take off -maybe they have been doing some marketing on that. Hoping for many more to come! Regards, David.

Hahaha, Newsfocus, we don't really know the exact location either :)
We're just guessing :)

lol, thanks for that. Guess I'm not as stupid as I thought I was (or then again....) Regards, David.

I like the map, but I thought I might get more precise info if I hovered over the image or the little circle in it'

Yes, I tried that as well! How are you all knowing you "sold a picture in Russia" etc? My map doesn't have any country names or borders showing. Maybe you all have a much more precise knowledge of geography than me (not hard, I admit). My latest was a UK sale (I knew that one) but the previous ones were hidden underneath (somewhere in Europe I guess). Anyway of seeing them do you think? Still, great fun but like Rubyroo I was hoping for more precise info. Also, could only access that "home" page from the forum -couldn't find a link anywhere else. It is still beta, to be fair and overall I like it. Regards, David.

just checked to see if my photos are on there. Some are available and have come from fotolia and dreamstime, one I found is credited to another photographer not me. I have sent a message hopefully it is rectified quickly.

Good guess! I just checked and I have images from my Bigstock port there -all credited to Colossus. Couldn't find any from my Dreamstime port though ??? Regards, David.
