« on: April 08, 2011, 14:41 »

There is no way PERIOD to trust this organization. In many more ways than just disappearing threads.

Oh, but the conference calls! Don't you know? You can start trusting them again because they are now inviting a select view, under an NDA, to special meetings!

352
FWIW I feel bad for the people who work there too since they must sense the same growing uncertainties that have caused people here to get so angry with each other lately.

I bet they now wish for the days when all the arguments and negativity were in the political threads. They should never have banned them. :D

Doesn't surprise me one bit. They started "disappearing" many who disagreed with them a while ago. Why shouldn't entire threads be next? And of course, they'd most certainly want to delete threads where they promised something, lest it be used as evidence when they don't do what they say.

I just had a client send me some photos they bought at iStock. They said, "iStock photos are expensive!". Clearly they didn't know that the search was dominated by Agency/Vetta. I wish they would have consulted me first. I could have saved them some money.

It's my understanding from earlier posts in this thread that the removal of his port was not his idea and that he *was* trying to get it reinstated.

Either they are going to give contributors their money, or they're not. Again with the whole big drama.

And the NDA.  ::)

The call is over, quoting Rogermexico:

"We've just finished the phone call with the Vector group. We are going to do some email follow up with them on a few things. In my opinion it was a really productive discussion. There will likely be a few days with little news so give them some time and space. From the iStock side, we intend to make a post next week with a proposal to the whole Vector community. Thanks Nico_blue, daveturton, johnwoodcock and sodafish for having the discussion!"

So, they have to run it past Getty? :D

I think it's all anecdotal stats and how istock really grew based on these small designer shops when their motto was "the designers dirty little secret."

I agree that it's all anecdotal (and I almost put that in my post  ;) ). Didn't iStock do a survey a while back on what kind of user you were? I'm sure someone out there has the stats.

@caspixel

This conference call is different from the fraud call. They just took our money and some contributors got to listen to the reason why it was done.

I and hopefully everyone one on that list has already contacted support to opt-out of Vetta. If the conference call does not get us our main collection royalty rate for Vetta then I'm staying opted-out.

If Istock decides to punish me for demanding the royalty rate I earned through the canister system and then through the RC system for Vetta then I have the option to drop the crown.

I wish you good luck!!

And you should know, though while anonymous, vlad_the_imp makes in the top 10% of his European country and he retains his anonymity here because some day he may need to say something negative about IStock, because as of yet, they haven't done enough things wrong.

Ha! Thanks for reminding me how "important" he is. Clearly I should be crushed by his ill opinion of me. ;)

If the conference call doesn't change anything then that is one more option being exhausted. We aren't "falling" for anything Caspixel but attempting the path of least resistance first.

Well, judging from the fraud conference call, sorry to say, nothing changed. All iStock did was to get trusted members of the community to back them up and it got people to stop talking about audits and lawsuits. I can't see much more coming out of the Vetta illustration conference call. But just like the fraud one, people were convinced iStock "cared" just by having it. It's definitely one of the more brilliant strategies they devised lately, that's for sure.

Don't take too much notice of Caspixel, her spittle-flecked lunacy is one of the downsides of visiting these forums. Since she was ejected from istock for crimes against fashion ( is there anywhere that shortie leather jackets with turned up collars is de rigueur?) she spends all her time oozing negativity. Just ignore her.

Bahahahaha. cclapper is right. Classic pot/kettle, right down to the personal attack! I don't know why you take my criticism of iStock so personally that you would have to make fun of a profile photo that was taken back in the 90s - duh - and was all just in fun.

when most of them are one-person graphic designer shops with very limited budgets

Is that the case? Can you provide a link to where that info and stats are published? The only people I've directly come across in my professional life who use istock don't fit that demographic so I'm curious to know how you come to that conclusion. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'd just like to see the evidence.

I'm a one-person graphic design shop who used to use iStock. I also have several on-line associates who are one-man shops who have migrated away from iStock. They moved onto other agencies at least a couple years before me.

These conference calls really are a brilliant move on iStock's part. They make the contributors feel like they "care" all the while shutting up the critics (that they haven't already banned). And they resolve exactly nothing. iStock still carries on with business as usual. I'm just surprised so many people are falling for it.

On the verge of having another customer leave because of this "new" best match:

http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=321102&page=1

...Or is it as I am sure the majority of customers have assumed (myself included) that indeed it is Managements intention to never implement this feature in hopes that we will cave and somehow start paying 1000-1800% more?

"Wishful thinking" comes to mind.

My latest search, "consultant", yielded only 36 regular images out of a page of 200! all down the very bottom. For some customers that would equate to many pages before hitting (for some) something affordable.

There are filters to essentially exclude non collection images - why . isn't there one for the reverse? Whatever the logic, its a pain in the a$$ and hence an answer as to whether or not this feature is coming would be appreciated.

So. Is it coming or should I just start making up lightboxes somewhere else and save myself the hassle?

Well, all the Vetta images are front and center so iStock is making it really easy for them. The can lightbox the whole page and buy with one fell swoop.

The customer complaints are already starting:

368
Can people also complain about their crappy customer service and their rudeness?

to be honest the only rudeness I've seen is on the forums from the likes of Lobo, whenever I've contacted customer service directly they have been very polite.

It hasn't affected me, but it appears that customer service is very very slow on response time to customer inquiries in several threads I've seen regarding refunds, people buying credits and not having them appear in their account, etc.

There are so many valid things to complain about, thanks for posting this nruboc, i hope many of us will file a complaint :)

Sure no problemo... actually VB inc should get some thanks too, because he inspired me to post :)

You're such a hater! ;)

Thread is locked and admins are contacting him/her privately. That way, none of us can know exactly why their account dropped $60.

Yup. How long before the thread disappears?

Ah, it's been moved from the Help forum to the Vetta forum, which non-exclusives can't access. Sorry.

Ah yes, moved to the Vetta forum, safely away from the prying eyes of the general public.

Someone needs to contact this iStocker:

I just noticed my account dropped $60+. I haven't received an email or sitemail regarding this action.  Are we getting Banged again?
