There's no way for me to select the model and change the background without making it look like crap. Each time I try in photoshop it looks terrible. You can make a layer below and make the saturation zero > b&w version. Then selectively erase the top layer over the (gray) background. That will solve the fringe problem on the hair too, and it will preserve the skin tone as it is. When all is flattened, you can dodge the edges easily to white. But it will add an hour at least to each shot, so it's not very productive.

FlemishDreams are you big5 ? Of course not. I just make the most noise Amongst the top here are many but not me. Sjlocke is, RT, Lisafx, Karimala, PatrickH, and many more I just forget now... I won't post comment on bugs any more in public. That's not fair towards you. It gets picked up by Google. I will send that kind of info in private and I already did to your Satellite Force

Are they selling in Fotolia, dreamstime or istock ? Check people's portfolio links on the bottom and verify whether they sell where and what.

some artits already uploaded more than 300 images now Amazing... By the way don't spend too much time now on marketing and SEO. It might backfire when customers see a site with little images. I believe you that you will do the marketing and SEO very well later. - I logged in again and I went to "My Upload" by another link - it worked now. - No FTP, so I went to "upload a file". - The first disappointment: there are categories, so I filled in people. - The second disappointment: I have to click on a checkbox that I agree with the condtions on every image. Can't that just be done in the begin of a batch, like with most sites? - There are the fields for title, description, keywords... cool. But mine are in the IPTC. So I checked "use IPTC info". - Doesn't work - the script needs a "title" anyways. OK, I copypaste the title in and there the script goes silent... (watching my upload gauge, I can see something is uploading so I wait) - After a while... the screen pops up with "starting upload" (when it's already finished), followed by the edit screen. Sure, the keywords and description are imported from the IPTC, but not the title. - The largest (10MP) size is priced at 5$, the smallest one at 1$. Compared to Zymmetrical and Cutcaster, that's still peanuts. Bottomline: no clue how to attach a Model Release, no Model Release library, the script is still very buggy, and there are 3 unnecessary steps with each image: click on accept conditions, click on read IPTC, and copypaste the title. This is not working for uploading 1000 images.... Conclusion: I'll wait till the upload works well and till there is multifile upload or FTP. There is no FTP now...

enough said on my part,we'll wait and see! No, the game just started... I registered and when I went to "upload", I got this: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 134217801 bytes) in /home/fotomina/public_html/admin/function/mysqldb.php on line 4Well at least I know what Linux version the server is on now ;-)

I can already see the demise of the agency, most contributors are turned off. Of course not. Standing our teasing is part of the exam ;-) The big plus is 10$, no subs, 70%+ They still need to do a lot of coding work though. Superfast MRF attach, FTP, proper search engine. Everybody is craving to get out of the 0.19$ cent subs sites, so why those that try it not giving a chance? But their road ahead is long and hard.

HOW DO YOU KNOW Smile My real day job is being a spy. I am sure you are not that big ugly man because he wouldn't get such answer As Sun Tzu said in Sūn Zǐ Bīng Fǎ ( The Art of War) : 兵不厭詐。or All warfare is based on deception. You can only deceive by telling believable lies or unbelievable truths. Information gathering is practical intelligence. In your first version, you left some comment codes. I found where you got the code and Googling I found the rest. Piece of cake for a spie So do you know the answer to Magnum's question?

then WHY did getty buy StockXpert in the first place? As far as I understood it, Getty bought Jupiter Images and StockXpert was the dirty little orphan hidden at the bottom of the bag. Getty didn't buy Jupiter for XSP. Getty, flying around in the clouds of the Olympus doesn't care about those sneaky amateur worms crawling in the snapshots mud of Microstock. That's why they are courting Flickr cellphone shooters

Are you in it for the money only or do you have a genuine interest for photography? No they got funding from a Finnish near-government agency for innovative startups. Test: wich aperture gives shortest dof. 2.8 or 8 ? What's DOF? Oh righty, Department Of Funding.

Can StockXpert be the next takeover candidate? Probably Getty wants to get rid of it since it's not a real asset in their strategy, and peanuts anyways for them. It doesn't pose a real threat to iStock but but if they fund it properly, it would become an iStock competitor. Given that dilemma, they will probably put it back a bit on track, since reading between the lines of the admin's post, Jupiter cut StockXpert's wings, and now they feel free. After things got straightened up, they will probably put it up for sale, but who would buy it in the current scarce credit mood?

So, human error I would suppose on our staffs part - a long day, two images in the queue near each other with somewhat similar keywords, and a wrong button click is all it would take for this to occur. It's the first time i've encountered such an issue, our reviewers are generally flawless but they are human after all. Hmm... I re-keyworded most of my shots on Dreamstime the past week, no keyword hickups, so I guess their reviewers are fail-safe robots, or Milinz is the only reviewer there. To be frank, mixing up metadata with the image itself should be made impossible to do by design. If Milinz can find one by just sampling, how many more are there around like this? I bet nobody checks his images after acceptance.

The big secret that successful microstock photographers know is that there is no secret: Take good photos (well composed, properly lighted, low noise, sharp focus), keyword them accurately, and wait for them to attract buyers. End of story. That reminds me of an episode as a toddler in my grandma's garden. I was obsessed by all those birds, and wanted to catch one. After several trials, they all flew away when coming near. So I asked her what to do, and she said that it's a secret. The secret is you have to put some salt on their tail: it paralyzes them and you can just pick them up. So I went out with a cup of salt, but I never managed to come close enough to put the salt on their tail. Much later, I realized that she had been pulling my leg. If you can sneak close enough to put salt on its tail, you can as well grab it So that's the real secret about microstock. Put salt on it's tail, and that's what all those blogs will tell you, collecting you as a referral and collecting Google ads revenue

FlemishDreams: But, I never can or will upload such image as you have taken on balcony and table in it with some drinks in keywords with no such drinks on image... What image is that?
Hmmm... I will give you link via PM
As I replied in PM, those keywords are not mine at all. Makes me think that Zymmetrical's database got corrupt and that's a very bad feeling. It happened before when I found other people's images in my Zymmetrical portfolio - but I was assured that this was just a temporary glitch and the database was intact. The keywords on Zymmetrical are: hot lemon | lemon drink | lemon | lemons | hot | for | a | cold | household remedy | traditional | hot drink | hot drinks | beverage | beverages | brew | infusion | teacup | cup of tea | teacups | transparent | glass | glassware | set of glasses | set of glasses | cup | cups | saucer | warming | heating | heat | sour | acid | vitamin c | organic | natural | healthy | salutary | of | on | up | to The real keywords in the IPTC (and I just verified on Featurepics, ShutterStock and on Cutcaster) are: table, tableware, cutlery, outdoors, suburban, patio, lifestyle, terrace, house, mansion, estate, picnic, affluent, countryside, wealthy, rural, rustic, classy, arrangement, style, casual, stillife, meal, still, life, rich, diner, lunch, relaxed, green, shrubs, lawn, reflection, spoons, forks, knives, plates, dishes, glassware, glasses, silverware, silver, outside, walls, window, chairs Compare keywords at Zymmetrical, Cutcaster and ShutterStock. Thanks for warning me about this! I really don't intend to check all my images on Zymm now since the site is still slow, compared to the BIG 6.

Tight crop on the right which limits use. The background in the skin color makes the subject-background isolation more difficult for the eye, so why not isolate overwhite?

Hey guys, the concept is great and for the low price, I would be very happy to buy some clips for slideshows of fashion photography. But for 4 days, I'm trying to play the demos... it worked fine in the begin, then it suddenly stopped working, in Firefox as well as in IE. I guess there is an IP-based limit on the number of tracks anybody can play from the same IP, but please, just say that instead of displaying "error loading file" or just load forever!
I tried to register about 6 times, but it always says I should check the captcha. I'm pretty sure that after 6 times, I didn't make a mistake. So please don't make it that difficult to play demos or sign up. Not everybody plans to leech the site for free sounds! I need a proper license to use the sounds but how if I can't even sign up?

As I know, Flickr users are all waiting for getty invitation so I know about the stock industry.. Yeah right, they both represent the quintessence of microstock.

There is more variety in the "female doctor" search now. Yap, it changes all the time. I guess they don't have much of an Easter break there in Bucarest. It's getting pretty good, and less spammy results than on iStock for the moment. (I'm talking here as a low volume buyer).

I'm not sure about your overall knowledge of the market but I think your only hoping this will happen so you don't feel too silly for deleting your images. SV is owned by Corbis which is owned by Gates. Of course I know that, and I also happen to know who Gates is. I've seen him 20+ years ago at Comdex, Vegas, where he was a little boy next to Borland and DEC. ;-) Everybody kept saying that, how deep the pockets of Gates and Corbis were. But when you see how crappy the programming and approach of SV was for over a year, and they later were expelled to Ireland, you can only conclude that SV was the black sheep in the Corbis family and Gates wasn't interested in it at all. It was flawed technically from the start, and it didn't get any better. In fact they don't like to tell it but it was phased out and Veer will take up the market concept of microstock. They try to make it sound nice, like "absorbing", of course, that's part of the soft corporate newspeak. Let's just hope they can get their stuff together by November, as they promised "fall". Wait and see. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Till now there has been a lot of talk about the pudding, how good it will taste.

I don't understand the people who refused to upload to SV simply because it lacked FTP - some of them with rather small portfolios. They changed my keywords and left some essential ones out, so I couldn't find my own images back. So didn't buyers since how you can find a palm tree as main subject if the rekeywording genius deletes "palm" and "tree"? They waited months to add a decent watermark. There were no views. There was no real development, except the blog that kept stating that the features asked for would come "soon". I gave them up after a year and a view count of 4 on the keyword-tampered shots. They had that LuckyOliver style of predictable failure on prozac. I deleted all shots except 3 a long time ago. If Veer didn't fire all their management and programmers(?), it will be just the same.
