Very interresting! Thank you for sharing it! from now on, I will try tu upload on Sat, Sun or Mon. I will skip Tue because if SS takes 24 to 48 hours to approve, it may take another day for your image to show up in searches. So uploading on Tue is a littlebit tight! Claude

I never bought anything from B&H but from my experience with other sellers, duties will be equivalent to the two taxes you have to pay in Canada.
What can make a big difference in the final cost is which shipper they use, because the shipper will charge you a brokerage fee. From my experience, UPS is the worst and I remember paying them 65$ in fees for a purchase value of 300$ (excluding taxes and duties)!!!
My best exp. is with USPS and Canada Post; it's a littlebit longer but costs a lot less!

I uploaded 2 images yesterdays minutes before they went out. Seemed longer than usual but I didn't care at that moment. This morning, the 2 photos were "rejected" with the following comment: "broken image, please re-upload". I guess I'm the first one with that reason! I will re-upload them today. Claude

Give a try to lynda.com.
There is a huge library of quicktime movies on Photoshop. Of course you will have to pay to have access to all of them but the firsts lessons of every chapter are free to use.
I use these to get in touch with specific tasks and I believe that sooner or later I'll go for the full course!
Good luck! Claude

Here's my stats: IS: .55$/DL DT: .85$/DL FT: .46$/DL ST: .88$/DL (but only 25 DL!) and SS: .25$/DL (of course!) One interresting note: before last raise at iStock, my ratio there was .495$/DL. So the raise for me was more than 10%. Claude

OK this has been a long post. And I am sure Rob and Jon are not pleased to be compared to Kindergartners.... but, my answer to that is, if you don't like being compared to Kindergartners, don't act like one.
(OH NO SHE DI-ENT......Oh , yes I did)
Ahhhhhhhhhhh, What a refreshing way to go over it!!! Thank you very much! Claude

first of all there is a difference between 'negative' posts and insulting posts. Insulting posts have no purpose or use here and only cause fights and disrespect. Negative posts however can be informative and usefull. I think one of the uses of this site is to discuss our opinions about the site. If an opinion is negative it should be able to be expressed as long as it is not in a disrepectful way. Since the stock sites themselves often don't like negative posts they may more often pop up here.
I fully agree with you Leaf and I want to say that I really appreciate the work you do here. There are 2 reasons why, even if I don't contribute often to this forum, I read all the threads here: 1. I know that opinions expressed here are free and honest, even if sometimes they are expressed in a maybe rude manner 2. We can compare here any site with any other site, and being relatively new to MS world, this is very usefull to me (and to others I'm sure!) So I really hope that this forum will last very long with every contributor in it! Claude

One of the distinct advantages of magnesium over steel is it's weight advantage...magnesium is LIGHTER!
Ooops! Then it has to be the steel casing... Bateleur, your point is right , but you leave us with another question: what will be the main usage of your tripod? I use mine almost exclusively to shoot objects inside, so stability is my second priority... what I need first is someting that will hold my camera precisely pointing on the subject. That's why I'll go for the head! Claude

My tripod has a pan and tilt head; and I just bought a monopod with an integrated ball head.
I just love it so much that I want to add a ball head over the existing pan and tilt head of my tripod.
The only drawback is that it adds weight; don't know why but ball heads tend to be really heavy; may be because of their magnesium ball?

Go for head!
All the precision you need is in the head, not in the legs

I'm not sure if I get it right, but do you upload 10 photos from one session? May be you should try to upload photos from various subjects, like 2 landscapes, 2 isolated objects, and so on... I believe that SS tries to "evaluate" your potential so upload accordingly! Keep on trying, you won't regret it! Claude

Leaf, I would be honored to be part of it... As i mentioned yesterday, I'm collecting info about coop "structures" in Quebec. Unfortunately, most this info is in french only so I will have to translate it... In the meantime, for those of you who can read french (Bateleur?) here's a site from Quebec Government about coop laws in Quebec. http://www.mdeie.gouv.qc.ca/page/web/portail/entreprises/nav/cooperatives/42251.html?iddoc=42251I will have more time this week end to get back to this thread with some thoughts. I don't know a lot about coop but in the province of Quebec, in Canada, we have a long tradition of coop (from stores to banks and appartments) and, as Leaf said, IT WORKS.
I'll try to find some more info about this around me and let you know.

So you now may go exclusive! I don't think so, as IS means only 25% of my current microstock earnings (and there are also the macrostock sites).
But I'm happy with the way sales improved in the past three months.
Regards, Adelaide
I agree with you... but I was reading the other thread about exclusivity on IS!!! Congrats! Claude
