I think DP is a pretty friendly site as far as uploading goes and also customer service.  What I really really don't like though is that a standard license at DP, you can use UNLIMITED copies of  an image, whereas, most other stock photo sites you would have to buy an extended license past 250,000 copies.  I've been slowly deactivating my files there after I saw one of my images get published in a newspaper (circulation=700,000) and only got paid $.31 instead of the much better extended license pay (e.g. SS would have paid out $28).

You can be happy that you have not only paid for a subscription!  Ever heard of the DP - Shotshop Deal?

Just great! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yaymicro / Re: Yaymicro - worth getting on to?
« on: March 07, 2014, 03:49 »
Just my two cents: If you want lose control over your pictures totally, agree with nano prices and want lose your earnings when you leave, then you should enter at YAY. Read this thread here carefully, in contains an extract from YAYs Contributor Agreement. YAY does not belong to the Middle tiers -  someone made a joke. Next month they are down again.

In your logic, lets provide all our youth with crack cocaine and heroine as the fight against drugs is a battle we cant win. That will solve the problem for sure.
And in this particular case it would be true 8)

Has anyone seen an official response from any microstock agency yet?

No unusual observations (Berlin, Germany).

357
Hmm, could not find any of my images there.  Seems to me, that many picture on this polish site are of low quality (not all, but a lot of them I saw).

358
Lets try this question upside down - what would you (all photographers) do if SS offers $1 (!) for basic level?

I would sell all my shares immediately , I believe 8)

How many of those who lost the 50% did anything besides moan when 123 pulled the RC stunt?  Reality check: some people would lose enthusiasm to produce but the rest would continue on as it would still produce the best return.  "When you have them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow"

But hardly anyone will have received most of its revenue from 123RF. 123rf has always been an agency, where sales were only a small part of the whole cake.

Maybe I can make calls with my next Nikon DSLR? Why should I use a Smartphone than?  8)

Had some nice puchases on Clipdealer last year - although I only have a small portfolio there!

What an appropriate location for the iStock watermark.  You couldn't have planned it any better.

After the first few days, I can state that the sales of of previously unsold images clearly have increased. I'm not sure, what's going happen with my good selling pics, but untill now there is no change.

This way to push unsold content is better than Fotolias way to make such content cheaper. And it will be  more successful, I think. Well done, Shutterstock!

Yes, the new tab appears in the english version of the interface only. But yeah, it's simply a good idea!

Actually the upload process isn't not really painful- it's possible to submit batches and copy all informations from other pictures. But the sales are insignificant (for me).

Some years ago I sold the house of my parents in Sweden and I had to pay taxes there, although I am German citizen and live in Germany.

I used to upload some images each week (very slow submitting system) and when I wanted to get paid I got paid but had to pay more tax than when I get paid by SS and the likes. I'm living in the Netherlands, they are German. We are both in Europe, I pay my taxes here but they told me it was necessary. I don't upload anymore..

I have no explanation for it. But the taxes paid in Germany reduce of course your taxes in the Netherlands. So actually i doesn't matters.

What do you expect? Even if they would answer, it would be the usual BlaBa. As Linda of YAY for example >:(

Well, I've certainly started to do that as far as my DP portfolio is concerned.  Ever since the excellent investigative report appeared in the 'Alltag eines Fotoproduzenten' (many thanks to the guys who did that, made test purchases, and uncovered the issue), I've tried number of times but failed to get any clear professional response from DP - beyond platitudes and general cut-and-paste type email replies that don't clarify anything to my understanding!

Yes, Robert (Fotorob) did a great job! Wondering, what about Shotshop? Most contributors are focused on DepositPhotos, but even what ShotShop do is absolutly dubios. In the German based Stockfotografieforum people are discussing the possability of a quality seal for agencies. Maybe this could be a way to fight back.
