I'm an illustrator not a photographer, but I'd probably go with the truth. The truth being that they're young and isn't too late to do something easier like nuclear physics. Seriously, I think it's good to be encouraging to people just starting out, but there isn't anything wrong with giving them a little dose of reality. Although if they invite you over to show you snapshots of their cat, it's OK to run like hell.

Yeah, that's my big one there too. It's not so much that they reject the images for me. It's that it disrupts my workflow. I used to be able to immediately upload everything to Shutterstock and Dreamstime and then upload things to iStock as my uploads became available. Now if a series is more than 2 or 3 images, I have to break it up for Dreamstime.

Thanks. That answered my question.

I haven't been able to find any of my pics that were approved either. I don't know how long it takes from approval to online. It's been over a week or maybe even two.

I didn't notice. It looks like the vector of the year was a non-exclusive.

Wow! That is pretty cold blooded. If those are the rejection comments, I'd rather have the ambiguous, "Not Suitable". I guess Veer is a "bad break upper". It's not you. It's me, but you do smell really bad and your ugly.

I did my first 10 and they were approved, but as far as I can tell they aren't online. No views and I can't find them in the search. It has been over a week. Is this normal?

I posted my Zazzle site in the other forum thread, but here it is again for shameless promotion: http://www.zazzle.com/toontopiaAs far as success, I can't say I do all that well with it. I get sales every month, but it usually adds up to less than $10. I probably could do a better job of promoting it. I also had a Cafepress premium store for a few months, but I didn't sell anything. I ended up closing it. I suppose everyone's experience will be different though.

I think you have it right for the Cafepress. I never really did all that well there, so I canceled my account. For Zazzle, login to your "My Zazzle" and select "Products". There you can "Add New Product Lines". These function as categories for your store. You'll have to edit your images and add them to that product line. You can check out how my store is organized: http://www.zazzle.com/toontopiaThe Product Lines are on the sidebar. As for the templates, I'm not sure. I'd select someone else's template product and see how you can modify it.

Dreamstime had been gaining steam all year and peaked in June for me. July and August have been slow though. Hopefully, it is just a summer slowdown and will pick back up in September an October.

So, we should be ok that we get the same money, while DT gets the big bite of the credit price increase?
I am in this business, to earn more every month. If I wanted to be even, month after month, I would go and work for a traditional company.
I think the point is that supposedly they are going to reinvest some of that money in advertising to bring in new buyers. Look at istock. They have fairly high prices in the micros and they pay a low percentage, but they advertise like crazy. I see a ton of istock ads when I'm surfing the web. Am I happy about the change? No, but if I can lose 20% now so I can gain 60% in the future, I'd do it. Will it work out? Who knows?

Good info. I did most of mine as lightboxes, but having direct links to the images is nice too.

Wow! That is really crap-tacular. Hopefully, their credit increase will offset that a little. I ran some rough numbers based on July and it looks like a decrease of 30% for me. Who knows how it will actually work out, but it doesn't look good.

Definitely would be nice to have both. Most browsers have a spellcheck built in, so they underline misspelled words in data fields. It's worth checking out in your preferences.

Yeah, I didn't like it as much as the auto-populate from the last image, but it isn't horrible. It works better for the categories, but those were pretty simple to navigate anyway. The real time cruncher is to come up with those 7-word descriptions. The only change that I really would have loved to see is to be able to edit your submitted files. It's easy to make mistakes when you upload files. I think you should be able to fix those mistakes when you catch them.

The number of images is not important.
What matters is the quality of images. So you may have more images and sell much less.
I don't know if that is necessarily true. Yes, quality matters, but I think quantity is important as well. My strategy in stock has always been hitting base hits and not home runs. I saw the kind of files that got big sales and I didn't want to make those kind of files. I wanted to draw in my own style. Maybe, I have to work harder and make more files, but I find it more satisfying.

My results are about the same as everyone else. I got a couple downloads from my first batch, so I uploaded some more. Those are still waiting to go up though. Overall, I like the site.

"Microstock ran off with my wife", "Microstock stole my dog" and "Microstock wrecked my trailer" are just some of the great songs on my new country western album, "Microstock Done Me Wrong".

Maybe your reviewer was attacked by a bear in the woods or had a traumatic experience at scout camp. Whatever the reason the reviewer rejected it, ridiculous rejections happen and you have to roll with the punches like someone else said. Unless you are exclusive, there are other agencies out there. Cut your losses and don't waste too much time on it.

Neat site! I bookmarked it too. After reading the licensing agreement, it is definitely a lot looser than most micros. The pricing scheme seems good and on par with other sites, but not having extended licensing for resale items (and some other extended licensing) is definitely a lot lower than the micros. Just my 2 cents. Good luck! I'll keep my eye on your site.

I don't really participate in many that aren't in the Big 6, so I can't say I have an additional 6 agencies that I have a secret crush on. Fotolia is really the only place that makes me cranky, so I might banish them off of the Big 6 and replace them with someone else. I would suggest Bigstock as replacement, but I have issues with their upload limits. I guess I'll pick Veer MP to replace them. They still have a clean slate. I also always liked LuckyOliver's site. Are we allowed to resurrect them in this imaginary world?

I think spamming is adding irrelevant keywords as well. Contributors should have some leeway to add descriptive adjectives and concepts. It's tough to draw that line sometimes. What one buyer thinks is a bogus keyword for an image in their search another one will think it is exactly the concept they searched for.
iStock does a good job at fighting spam, but sometimes I scratch my head over some of the keywords they've deleted from my images. I always wondered if it was just random when they modify your tags or someone actually complained.

3 times royalty is really not all that different than the 4 credit vector which is what made me stop uploading to Fotolia in the first place. They definitely are keeping us on our toes over there.

This has been explained in another thread before: http://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/premium-subscription/
White 0.35 Credits Bronze 0.36 Credits Silver 0.37 Credits Gold 0.38 Credits Emerald 0.39 Credits Sapphire 0.40 Credits Rubis 0.41 Credits Diamond 0.42 Credits
For vector images 3x and videos 10x this royalty.
Ah, so it is actually better than Dreamstime and Shutterstock for subscription vectors. I didn't see the 3x and 10x the first time I looked at their royalty page: http://us.fotolia.com/Info/Contributors
