Sounds like illustrators do considerably better on GL than photographers. I only get around $30/month there, and they are 0% of my overall stock income. That's with 6500 images.
cant be 0%

Last month I changed my opinion when my sales were dropped more than 60% suddenly due to "intervention" on search engine! Also I don't know how it is possible to lose "sales" but retain "views"?
+ 1 (50%) p.s: dump it until they do something lol

Great comments thanks. So the negatives so far mainly seem like the monitor and hard drive space. But like Karimala said you can connect a monitor to a laptop. Large external drive would probably be somewhat of a pain. And mobility is something I need which is why I have a desktop and laptop now. Just thought I might be able to consolidate.
As for desktops generally being faster that's what I thought too. I was just about to buy a new desktop when I stumbled on the Lenovo W530. Quad Core I7 and up to 32GB of ram. That's some power.
had many teachers using IBM and wow fine laptops with some crazy batteries they can last a very long time, winners for sure

If youre like most Shutterstock contributors, you keep a close eye on your earnings. Now weve made it really easy to check your stats from your mobile device.
Shutterstock Contributor Mobile is our new mobile web application for our artists. Its an HTML5 app, so it works right in your devices web browser. You dont need to download or install anything.
You can access Shutterstocks Contributor Mobile web app by going to submit.shutterstock.com from the web browser in your mobile device. iPhone users can create a Homescreen shortcut to the app by visiting the URL, clicking the arrow icon in the lower part of the browser window, and selecting Add to Homescreen.
The app lets you: See your most recent downloads from the last 7 days. View total unpaid earnings. View details for recent downloads, such as number of total downloads and earnings associated with each. See keywords associated with recent downloads.
Weve designed the app for iPhones with iOS 4.0 or newer, and Android phones with systems 2.3 to 4.0. (Note that because of the wide variety of Android devices, this app might not work on all Android devices. We have also found that clearing the history or cache in your devices browser can fix errors some users experienced with earlier versions of the program.) Give it a try and, as always, let us know what you think!
Best Regards, The Shutterstock Mobile Team

Although it can be confusing sometimes it is nice the way Alamy reports the sale amount and any deductions. I think if all the sites reported sales like that we would be horrified by how much they are taking out of each sale.
perhaps they would be honest!

To be fair - Fotolia pays to contributors still same amount regardless of credit package that buyers bought (it's less than promised with small packages but it's for example 37.77% - instead of "bronze" 23% - with 7000 credit package with payout in EUR). DT's maths scares me more.
come on! who gets 7k credits?
You're right, not many bloggers I guess. But I'm glad that I don't have any 0,08 sales on FT.
the problem is that they dropped us not very long and they think we have forgotten, we havent honestly we are wasting our time talking about agencies "rules", we will never get anywhere, we only have to accept and collect if they are kind to paypal us time to time as a Silver a XL I get 2$, I should get 2EUR, thats 1.64EUR, 0.36EUR or 0.44$, which is a silent cut of 18%

both incredible but we know about that for a long time the FT paying $ for the European contributors is just over the roof, I am getting more and more sales there, better not to imagine getting paid in EUR

A few months ago I had a month that beat my prior year IS earnings for the first time
That's exactly what I meant in my previous post. Virtually no one earns as much or even more after dropping the crown, I thought jsnover could be the only exception I know of, but as we can now see she isn't. And to imagine all the hassle of re-keywording and reuploading images, it's a huge loss of time, not just money. Just stay exclusive unless you really have nothing to lose and if you don't depend on ms earnings
I guess you didn't see this post...
Posted by: Sadstock I'm a diamond and dropped exclusivity in early 2011 and I'm ahead financially for dropping the crown, despite the fact that only about 40% of my Istock files are uploaded to other sites.
Just because only 1 or 2 people post here of their success, doesn't mean "virtually no one". There must be tens of thousands of contributors who don't post here OR on the istock forums, or any forums, for that matter. So the evidence present here, pro OR con, is anecdotal.
In such an anti-IS atmosphere, believe me, everybody who's doing better after dropping the crown would be very loud about it, as well as lots of ppl would point to him . I know assumption is the mother of all mess ups, but logic dictates that given the evidence we have (or lack of it) suggests most ppl are doing worse after dropping the crown. The conclusion is clear, it's inadvisable to do so
and the opposite?
