come on guys! DT is fine
Not in my book. They have more rules - many of which are illogical and arbitrary, and not consistently enforced - than just about any other site. If these rules made for a wonderful buyer experience or better returns for contributors, I might feel better about it, but none of these rules have elevated them from the bottom of the pile in the top tier sites.
sarcastic mode, if you notice my posts about DT you would have guess it in seconds

Ive just completed an analysis of the downloads of 193 of iStocks leading contributors. As of June 30th these people had a total of 30,449,000+ downloads, or about 24% of iStocks total downloads since they the company was founded. On average this contributor group had 22% fewer sales in the first half of 2012 than they had during the same period in 2011. This doesnt necessarily mean revenue was down. Customers may have purchased higher priced images. But a drop of this magnitude in the number of images licensed is cause for concern. To see how I arrived at my conclusions check out http://www.selling-stock.com/Article/trends-at-istockphoto-unit-sales-decline. What do you think?
I think... earnings per download are over 22% higher than 2011.
Edit: Just checked, it's about twice that.
honestly I dont understand why so many exclusives report a big drop in sales/downloads, weird!

they shoud seriously include the thinkstock sales once we cant get out, at least it would give us some credit apart from the huge 28 cents

Here is another tricky question about exclusive images. Let's say you have a 4200x2800pixel image as an exclusive image with one agency.
1. Can you submit a small crop from that image (i.e. 1800x2500) to another agency? Different composition because of cropping, perhaps even different orientation, but it originated from the same image. Would it qualify as a different image?
2. How about if you process the original image differently, resulting in a new look? (i.e. conversion to B&W, replacing some colors, adding a new element, etc)?
1. No, it isnt a new picture (but I do see tons of people doing that with their best-sellers, guess agencies dont care beside DT) 2. Yes it is a new picture, you have spent many time editing and such, again many contributors do that

We'll have to just disagree. Personally, I'm moving forward with ideas and business models that do not rely on IP or copyright laws to succeed.
Selling stuff on eBay?
Far far from that....

honestly go after BUYERS I will repeat myself I have blogged over 2 years (May 2009 to November 2011) and more exactly 126 blog posts and what have I done so far? not even 100$ which is incredible ridiculous for such a long time sure you can approach the CRAZY way which is bothering every single people you know/dont know using massively twitter, facebook, website, blog etc.. some guys are just over the roof, I delete a few everyday, I am not a buyer, at least try and market buyers not photographers, its very annoying seeing everyday I have sold 10 or I have got 10 approved, sold here and there.. new pictures, new articles, new crap.. so my advice is not worth (unless you are giving those "news" to designers/buyers)

I tried the other day to add a stock link to my portfolio and got flagged for spamming
Because of that, I link my Flickr images to a blog page ( could be a website ), and from there I can link to any agency.
or maybe the "buyer" take if from Flickr

they will never go away guys, why would they? slowly perhaps? if so buyers need to get pictures from some place else no? more competition but more buyers too iStock doing 59k downloads per day, they need to be insanely dumb to drop that volume of sales! During 2011 alone a minimum of 18,615,558+ images (and probably about 21.5 million) were licensed for use. ( http://blog.microstockgroup.com/istockphoto-2012-semi-annual-analysis/)

link aint working here (Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. Requested URL: /Article/trends-at-istockphoto-unit-sales-decline.)
apart from that we have seen and talked about it (a few time ago) more exaclty regarding the drop in downloads (25% less comparing 2011 to 2010), so your new research shows how it continues..

jeff greenberg has 70000+ images and he wrote his monthly checque from alamy is around 5-6000$.
$8510 gross from 79 net licenses
Month's results: above average, strongest in ~5 months
Collection size: misleading to compare, IMO
Percentage of my salable images on Alamy: ~98.5% (better apples to apples comparison, IMO)actually 86,367 pictures
