Microstock News / Re: RIP Polylooks
« on: September 29, 2010, 13:54 »
Bad news for Yaymicro contributors too as this was one of their new "third party" re-sellers. I was hoping to see a boost in Yay earnings from the Polylooks deal. Regards, David.

Just checked their Twitter and Facebook pages for an update. Nothing posted at all about it -which seems a bit surprising. Regards, David.

New Sites - General / Anyone for WeDoStock.com?
« on: September 24, 2010, 12:00 »
Anyone know anything about this new Scandinavian stock site www.wedostock.com?
They pay 50% commission but I had a job pinning down what this would actually be. They take Editorial images and are currently inviting Microstocks "finest" to apply (with some samples or a web link). The name doesn't exactly trip off the tongue but at least it makes clear what they do ;) Regards, David.

Yaymicro / Re: Who has had sales at YayMicro ?
« on: September 15, 2010, 07:45 »
Make a project folder with your 100 best images and send it to [email protected].

What do they mean by this?  Upload 100 of them all over again in a fresh batch???

Confused.

Nope! Go through your port on Yay. Under each image (not the thumbnails, but the full size image) there is a "add to project folder" button. When completed, go to your folder (there is a link at the top of the Yay site) and choose the "make folder public" option. This generates a link for your folder. Email that link to Yay. Done! Hope that helps, regards, David.

Why are you pimping your bloggie in each and every unrelated message in the message body itself? Imagine if everybody would do that.  ::)
Can't you just put the link in your profile like everybody else?  :'(

Ouch! That told me. Apologies to anyone I might have annoyed by that. I plead technical stupidity though -been trying to put it in as a discreet little signature at the bottom for ages but couldn't get the thing to save properly. Think I got it now. Thanks, Hugo, for prompting me to give it another go ;D Regards, David.

I agree with cclapper, although I also agree with some past proposal of doing a coordinated move on a specific day.

I was also thinking of a different kind of protest, like uploading protest images: images related with betrayal and insult (a stabbed heart, a slap on the face), etc.

No email here either. I was rather hoping that was a (good) sale ;D Regards, David

We are talking about payment confirmation email, after you transfer money to your paypal account. SC said he saw the money in his paypal account before he received the confirmation email about it.
Don't expect some email from Yaymicro that you reached the payment, or similar.

Yep, understood! Normally, Yay send out an email saying the third party sales are in and how much you made. That's the email I haven't got! Regards, David.

Veer / Re: Veer Dash for Cash
« on: August 25, 2010, 14:33 »
Just had my final 140 Dash For Cash images reviewed with (at Veer) a better than usual 50% acceptance. What was pleasing was that the rejections related to the images and not just the "Not quite Veer" button being pressed. What was really impressive was the personalised notes (for similars) added by the reviewer/s along the lines of "we thought the other two pebble mosaic images worked better and they were approved". That's a first for me. They didn't have to do that -especially at a time when they are deluged with DFC images. So respect to Veer and the reviewer/s for that! Anyone else get those personalised rejections? Regards, David.

Yaymicro / Re: Introducing myself
« on: August 25, 2010, 14:13 »
Had a sale on Yay today paying 5 euros commission. But is this a sale or the 3rd party (2nd quarter) sales being added? We normally get an email when the results are in but I haven't had one. Nice commission if it is a sale but dissapointing if it's the 3rd party sales! Anyone else get this today? Regards, David.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Referral Links
« on: August 24, 2010, 13:22 »
Just the one, James, they signed up to Dreamstime using my referral link. Their profile talks of landscape photography in Scotland and Yorkshire so I had high hopes for sales of dramatic mountain scenes and craggy Yorkshire dales. Months on - not a single image online! There isn't even a test you have to pass at DT so I guess they just lost interest (or their images weren't as dramatic as I had envisaged). Still, I live in hope. Regards, David.

Welcome to the Lion's den Linda.  ;)

+1 Linda. It is always helpful when admins get involved directly here. It cuts through some of the speculation about what our agencies are doing. Regards, David

Thanks Fotonaut. Not just me then. Maybe some server problems etc going on. I did check their Twitter and Facebook pages for news but no recent updates there. Hopefully, all back up soon (waiting on the second quarter 3rd party sales!). Regards, David.

Yaymicro / Just me? Cannot access Yaymicro tonight
« on: July 28, 2010, 14:23 »
Anyone else tried to get on to Yay tonight (UK time)? Tried for the last three hours but cannot get on. Just a slow load followed by the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message. Hopefully just a problem with my ISP,  and would be happy to hear the rest of you can access ok! All other sites loading fine BTW. Regards, David.

Nothing to stop you submitting graffiti images as Editorial, of course, if they won't accept them as Commercial. Regards, David.

Veer / Re: Veer Dash for Cash
« on: May 27, 2010, 16:14 »
More a Race to Rejection for me. First 100 reviewed yesterday: 19 accepted! Out -Croatian landscapes, seascapes, Krka waterfalls. In -a bunch of animal shots taken at a local animal park (meerkats, gorilla, ostrich etc). Oh, and some Tamworth pigs at another local animal place. Just my luck to get the animal loving, agrophobic reviewer again ;D I'm off to a Greek island soon, so cue lots of donkey and goat shots! Regards, David.

I had an email exchange, David, and was told they are preparing a "grand launch" and marketing campaign ... soon.
What bothers me is their seeming lack of concern for currency.   Editorial images should not set for days on end without review.  Glad I chose to test with "historical editorial" rather than anything "time sensitive."
[/quote]

Thanks for that information Warren. I was getting a bit concerned that their Editorial launch was confined to me posting "editorial images are live" on this site  ;D
Days on end? I've got stuff uploaded on April 24 still pending! Luckily nothing time sensitive - as you say "historical editorial". BTW it will be interesting to see if 123 editorial makes it on to the parent company site Inmagine.com -there is a note there saying that they are considering taking editorial images. Regards, David.

I got around 50 or 60 editorial pics, got my first sale at 123RF, Pope in Lisbon

Congratulations Luis! Still waiting for my first editorial sale (with 474 live). Another 41 pending (going back a month). I'm still wondering when they will start to market the editorial collection -it's not even mentioned on their home page yet! Regards, David.

Veer / Re: Upload limits at Veer
« on: May 18, 2010, 14:43 »
Had some reviewed today.  Submitted 110 on May 5 and 110 on May 12.

So far 91 accepted, 39 rejected.

Way to go Packerguy! My old acceptance rate stands at 101 approved and about 176 rejected ("not quite Veer"). Awaiting approvals on about 124 at present. Oh, and I hope you all noticed that "110" submitted. I'm not losing it after all! I think it must be 110 for those that signed up when Veer first launched and 100 for new contributors -maybe ??? Regards, David.

Veer / Re: Upload limits at Veer
« on: May 18, 2010, 11:55 »
It would probaly help clarify if we stopped referring to "upload limits". There isn't one. You can upload your entire port tonight if you wish! The limit is on what you can submit for review. BTW everyone keeps saying 100 a week. My account says 110 a week (are you all just rounding down for neatness?).  Good luck to everyone with their reviews. Regards, David.

You say tom-A-to I say tom-AH-to.  :D  According to Ryan at Veer, the limit is 100. I have 10 images approved, it allowed me to submit 100 more, when I tried to upload one more, it told me I could not. For me, I think it's 100, no rounding. But I will know tomorrow and Wed when I should be able to submit the next batch.

Strange - my workplace page definately said "you can upload 110 images". Not that I put that to the test as I stopped at 90 odd for that batch. Maybe they have revised it down and my screen was showing the old limit? It's not a problem either way, I was just curious! Has anyone actually had anything reviewed since the start of Dash for Cash? How were your approval rates? Regards, David.
