I don't think there is a pattern when they will tell us. Broken promises on the date have been common practise. The targets were also changed later when sales were much lower and many people were going to lose more than 1 level.

@ Microbius: LOL a 'reaped' typo.
On this:
"In credit notes in March, ratings agency Moody's said Getty's latest dividend recapitalization led to a "moderately high" debt-to-EBITDA leverage of 4.4 times compared to 3.5 times pre-dividend."
I clearly don't understand the world of big finance. It sounds to me as though they can pay themselves dividends out of nothing... put the company in further debt so they can get their 'jollies' and then just sell that debt to someone else. Is that right, or am I reading that wrong?
Is debt not considered a bad thing in that world?
Yep pay big dividends out of debt. They've just got to find a buyer now that thinks they can suck some more blood from the stone. Big Business however play to some self created rules. One giant pyramid scheme built on debt. Works fine until your last one left holding the cards and everybody wants to play a different game.

A good reason not to be exclusive anywhere. When businesses are being run as debt engines and not as businesses trying to make profits through customer growth etc it's what you call unsustainable.

Is $12 worth that much stress ? Most other agencies wouldn't give you anything.

I must disclose that some of my ideas we're "inspired" from actually agency systems, policy etc.

Name should have nothing to do with photography. I think it was Lisa that came up with the best agency name when SnapVillage was being discussed:- Sh*tHamlet
I thought it was craphamlet. All thumbnails should be 5400x3600 pixels with no watermarks. Extended licenses should be cheaper than normal rf licence Each image requires 9 categories to be assigned from a 14 layer dropdown structure The page size should be arranged so that even on a 50 inch screen you have to scroll across Descriptions shall have every second letter A cApItAl AnD iN a DiFfErEnT CoLoUr Model releases must be submitted on stone tablets When you submit images you have to tick a yes or no box for every keyword to accept it. The tickbox should be placed over the cancel upload button and when you go to click on it moves. All images priced in Vanuatu Vatu's Every photo you have to assign the GPS location, date and time in roman numerals Every photo needs to split into quarters in photoshop and submitted separately. Crapstocks mega stitch engine will join them back together in a random order. Sometimes merging from other contributors photos. All photos directly uploaded to pirate bay anlong with your passport and social security number

They are competing for customers with Istock who have changed increased prices many many times. Its a battle to keep just a tiny fraction better than the opposition.

Agreed, he knows the paths he could have taken.
Great marketing
Hmmm. "I made a mistake so I made my minions work overnight". Some buyers won't like that.
I wish I had some minions. The lawn needs to be mown. That's right I am the minion

The 5D MkIII has been out for a couple of months. Surely this camera needs to be upgraded.
Thought I'd get in first to demand that canon release the MkIV.
Oh by the way I have from a reliable source that it will have 36.01MP and 63.2 AF points and of course eye controlled focus.
On a serious note, anybody bought the Mk3 ? What's your thoughts ?

If something is bugging you or can use improvement, we're always happy to hear!
Duncan, I'd like to see the option to include an image in more than one series. I have some images that would fit into more than one such as a hot cocoa shot that fits into Beverages and Christmas.
That answers my question, they disappear from the total when you include them in a series. Yes multiple series would be good.

I hadn't used the series editor before.
It only shows 513 photos where I have 850 approved photos.
Any ideas ?

Did he make them each work 24 hours straight ?
Isn't it illegal to make someone work more than 16 hours straight ?
Congratulations here have a shiny logo on your id badge. But remember mine is bigger than yours.
I suppose you can just say its a challenge and heaps cool.

... everything was just wrong, the setting, the body-language of the hippie model and the hardhat stuck on top, even the industry backdrop looked wonky.
I bet there isn't a stray pixel.
Added: or maybe it's the beefcake equivalent of this cliche: http://www.istockphoto.com/search/text/woman%20bikini%20hard%20hat/source/basic#14cc68a
I like that some of the photos don't even have hard hats in them. Unless a mirror ball counts

What worries me more is that we never got a clear explaination on what royalities we were going to make for a sale on alamy. This makes me think I was going to get 5% or something like that of the sale price. (i.e same royality as selling on Veer)
Surely it would have been in Veers interest to make an opt in / opt out type of thing as some contributors don't have an alamy portfolio. Makes it seem like they've been caught out and have made a hasty back peddle with the threat of losing their major contributors

I flagged some images one time and got hassled by the person who then in retailiation reported a number of my images for keywords that were correct.
I'll never be doing that again.
Improving the keywords on images is a great idea and to get the community to do it is the cheapest but I think this implementation is terrible. The keyword flag button isn't clear what it does and like others have said some people think they are rewarding the image by flagging it.

Very interesting discussion Re: Veer contributors images on Alamy under 'Alamy Creativity' pseud. But worth noting that the 'Alamy Creativity' pseud does not only contain Veer images! If you look closely and dig around a bit you'll see that there are lots of other Microstock agencies work in that pseud too - the most obvious being 123RF. Maybe that's why the count keeps rising? It's not Veer images it's images from loads of other Microstock sites . Check it out!
Are we going to see triplicates ?

10 cents an image ? if they're high quality ?
I'd personally run away from this as quick as possible.
I suppose if you could take 2000 shots randomly walking around your street (grass, road, mailbox, dirt, drain, tree, tap, sign) and give them unprocessed jpg on a DVD without descriptions and it took you 3-4 hours then 200 euro's would be okay. (but I'm sure this isn't what he's trying to get)
But to supply a diverse collection of 2000 high quality photos ??/

Whenever I have a lot of photos from a single shoot, I submit them in batches over a period of a year. Avoids the dreaded "too many" rejections.
DT and most sites store everything we upload for an indefinite period of time, so I'll upload the shoot all at once and then slowly process them during the year. I haven't noticed the processing delay affecting search placement or sales.
no it doesnt, they look in your portfolio, they go back and search those keywords, if they find they will say you have already online.. (talking about too many or similar rejections)
I have experienced the same thing. There must be something that flags similar images in your portfolio. Seems to be a bit random because some get through some don't

My percentages for microstock are
IS = 31% SS = 27% DT = 20% FT = 4% 123rf = 5% The rest = 11%
I can't see how any angency can come up with an arrangement that would end up with more money for me.
For some people exclusivity is / would be better but numbers don't add up for me.
Personally I hope shutterstock doesn't offer exclusivity as I'd prefer not to be bumped in the seach by exclusive images
