Dissolve / Re: Dissolve price update
« on: July 30, 2015, 03:24 »
If Dissolve undermines my average net royalty per download of around $25 via SS and P5, I would stop uploading new footage. I would then upload only a few select clips periodically as exclusive.

Dissolve / Re: Dissolve price update

Good comments, thanks. Dissolve aligns the price of non-exclusive content to the competitive marketplace. If the minimum price that an HD collection is available elsewhere is $299, then well price it at $299. If the minimum HD price is $79, then well match $79. Only a fraction of our HD collection is affected by this update and is moving to $49.

Expect a contributor backlash on this one Dissolve. If a clip at Pond5 for example is priced at $49 the contributor will get $24.5. A clip at $49 at Dissolve would only earn the contributor $14.7. I would certainly not support this.

It may backfire on Dissolve since videoblocks pay 100% commission and Pond5 50%. If Dissolve drop to $49 but still try to pay only 30% commission this should lead to less uploads since contributors will rightly feel they are getting ripped off.

5% wouldn't be worth it apart from the hosting site.

I find FAA to be a complete failure. It seems a lot of people don't like Zazzle but they work very well for me and I have royalty set at 18%. At zazzle I've sold hundreds of phone cases compared to 0 (ZERO) on FAA.

Alamy just don't have it compared to the US agencies. For some reason the US completely dominate this market both in performance and market share. Alamy are way behind the eight ball

Bigstock.com / Re: How Much I can Make with 500 images
« on: July 07, 2015, 11:42 »
Hi All,
I am new to stock photography world & I am preparing 15 stock photos everyday. My plan is to upload these to all major stock photos websites. I just want to know a rough estimate of how much I can make with 500 photos initially & then with 2000-3000 photos in next 12 month time.

Please give me a detailed insight, I am using photos & photoshop to design most popular & professional images that are top sellers these days.

Thanks!

I find them much easier to please than SS.

I haven't sold much of my newer uploads for a long time now.  My old images carry on selling, haven't noticed any change this month except I have no EL's and less SOD's than usual and I am heading for my worst month for earnings in years.

Several people reporting very bad months here including myself. I wonder if SS reporting is actually working properly.

Worst week ever. I've gone from averaging around 12 footage sales a week to only one this week. From a best week ever a few weeks ago I find it very strange how erratic SS has become - it used to fluctuate a lot less

Getty used to be my main source of income with several thousand RM photos. Over the last year returns are heading south and it doesn't look great. Thankfully I diversified my portfolio a couple of years back

I got my first report a couple of months ago when i had around 100 clips. Nothing last month or this month and that's with 450 clips. So I'd expect to see a bit of action soon otherwise I wouldn't continue to upload.

I don't think I asked, but maybe you're being funny.  Can't tell.

Just having a laugh with my obscure sense of humour. This forum can get a little dry at times

What's with the russian language in here?

She was saying your collection is even more haphazard

You have some good videos there, nicely shot and good quality. You prices however are terrible and you can never make any money if you sell video for $10 a clip. Honestly that could even put some buyers off for being too cheap. My cheapest video is $49 and I will never price below that. Putting your prices up to more realistic pricing should make you more money.

Thank you! Raised the prices of some work, but then again reduced...

If you price at $50 then you will get $25. Your current prices of $10 mean you have to sell five videos just to make $25. To be honest I think that pricing at $50 or more you will get the same amount or even more sales than now, the reason being is that buyers will view your work as professional if it's priced professionally. But at the moment you have giveaway prices, which is a little off putting for some buyers even though your videos are good quality. It means you don't value your work. Take a professional approach to your pricing like you have with producing your video and you can get some decent results in the long run. Persist with giveaway pricing and you will not do very well at all.

I try not to go beyond 4 hours for one clip and I have determined the sweet spot to be 22.57493222 seconds

Video id for me tue next big thing, I have online 1600 clips and I make about 4k a month consider though that 8 months ago I was earning 700$ and I had already 900 clips so as you see it si really amazing how video can really become the big thing very quickly

And this is why anyone who wants to continue to make a living should be anonymous.  It'll be interesting to see if that $4,000 per month income is still there in 6 months.

Exactly right. Why any successful photographer/videographer would want to broadcast their success/earning is beyond me since it can be very misleading but at the same time attracts additional competition when there is plenty already. Better to stay under the radar on some issues

Worth a shot. If those stats are legit it would be in the top 1% of portfolios performance wise

Print on Demand Forum / Re: POD monthly average income
« on: May 04, 2015, 18:26 »
I average $150+ net from Zazzle per month. Put a lot of effort in initially to set it up, haven't done anything for months. I need to give it another burst.

-1? I guess someone isn't doing so well. What a lemon

That's quite normal to be honest. Prices are all over the place.
Ok, thanks. At least I know nothing's changed or happened.

I've sold a few videos on SS (not a huge number, but > 500 and < 1000), and in my limited experience, this was unusual. Of course I've had plenty of sales for less than the expected amounts, but usually it's just a couple a month. This month, it was overwhelming. But must just be coincidence.

more than 500 video sales is what I'd call a considerable amount. Therefore you have plenty of experience and data to work with.

That's quite normal to be honest. Prices are all over the place. In April I got several big sales, had a best week ever but also had several quiet days in a row. Small sales are a part of it all. April was my BME but I do find SS footage sales to be sometimes sporadic but not as sporadic as P5
