I was just playing with my sales spreadsheet and made a list of "last BME" per agency :
IS : Nov 2009 RODEO : sep 2010 DST : nov 2011 FT : nov 2011 GLO : feb 2012 CAN : apr 2012 SS : oct 2012 BIG : oct 2012 132RF : feb 2013 DP : may 2013 POND5 : july 2013 Pond5 (Oct/10) and DP (Jan/12) are the last ones I joined, so it's not surprising they have a good score, but I think the other dates really give a realistic view on how these sites are doing (for me). 123rf has been constantly growing for years . SS has been growing continuously, until this year when it stopped. Istock has been a complete disaster since 2010. DST and FT were excellent until end 2011 and are still good, but without any super-great months. This is a completely useless analysis, so feel free to ignore it!

Bad month : 15% down compared to June 2012. Weird thing is that most agencies went up a bit, but Fotolia and Istock went down so much, that the others couldn't make up for the loss. SS went up 4%, but that's only because of a few EL's : SOD's and downloads went down more than 10%.

It's not really that big a deal, disagree if you like, but I'm saying that it's not much different for a site to payout on the 15th and to get your partner program payout on the 30th (usually). It doesn't really matter to me when the reporting is done (once a month vs. every day, especially since it's only about 1.5% of my income). They could be better but it doesn't seem like a huge difference, that's all I'm saying.
I can't speak for anyone else, but for me it is the inconsistency from one month to the next that is so annoying. I would rather get paid later and know it will come in on a specific date than to never know when to expect it.
Totally agree. I would like to know the first week of a month wether last month was better or worse than same month last year. Right now I STILL don't know that about May.

I finally got my upgrade! After checking out on the Adobe site, I always landed on an error page. So I called the Belgian Adobe desk and I got a very nice English speaking guy who tried to convince me NOT to buy the upgrade to CS6. His reasons : (1) the new cloud system was soooo much more interesting, and (2) why upgrade while CS6 had almost nothing better to offer than CS5 !! (really!!) I just kept on saying that I really wanted to buy the upgrade, and I kept on asking if it was still possible, and finally he asked my Adobe login name and sold me the upgrade. So, it's still possible, you simply have to be more stubborn than Adobe I'm not going to install it immediately. I only wanted it for my new pc in Sept/October, but I'm sure we won't be able to buy it anymore then.

Good for you! I'm not even close to that, not even if I add up ODD's and SOD's, but that's mainly because my ODD's seem to be slowly dying since the last Most Popular change

I'd like to buy CS6 now too, but cannot find any place still selling it ??
Try here. I just bought my copy a couple of weeks ago.
http://www.thesoftwaretechstore.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Adobe+Photoshop+CS6
Thanks! I just gave it a try, but then at checkout I got the notice "Please note that you must buy a minimum of 5 Client access licenses (CALs) per purchase." What would that mean? (I was trying to buy the upgrade from CS5 to CS6, photoshop only).

I use all the above mentioned tools, plus another one : in case of repeating patterns, like windows in a large building with lots of advertising on them, I clean up one part with the clone or patch tool, then copy the cleaned up part (feathered) to other parts of the building. Saves a lot of time if you do it properly.

The best thing you can do is shoot the things you know a lot about. I know absolutely nothing about sports, so that subject is taboo for me. But if you (or some one in your family) have a hobby (music, ballet, gardener), profession (baker, farmer ...) of special interest, then you are likely to make better photographs of that subject than anybody else, and you don't even have to do any research! Then, after shooting the subject on white, start shooting it "in action" or against the background where it belongs.

PicWorkFlow charges $0.01 per file and upload site. At roughly 100 image files per month distributed to a dozen sites their bill would add up to a more reasonable $12.00 per month. And this is no subscription, meaning you only pay for what you are actually using. However, last time I tried (about 6 months ago) PicWorkFlow had still issues with loosing metadata in the upload process.... - Well, I guess I'll try again soon!
Same here. I have no problem with uploading separately to the sites, but I hate the Istock process, so if I can do that with PixWorkFlow, it's goodbye to Lightburner. I consider $120/year too much, and I don't like monthly payments. $50 on an annual basis would be fine for me.

Too depressed to do any detailed calculating, but I can say that only DP, 123rf and Alamy went up, and all others down, with a total result of -9,7% compared to May 2012. Alamy tried to save the month with a last minute sale of 200$, which I really appreciate thank you, but it did not make up for the -11% of SS. If our biggest agency goes down, it hurts the most of course.

Today, my earnings, on the contributors home page, sign $0 And my last approved images don't appear in my portfolio
Even worse : my whole portfolio disappeared for 2 hours ... After logging in I only had 17 footage clips and no images. Nice bug!

I don't really consider a link to "apply to be a contributor" as an invitation ... It's just a line at the bottom of the buyer's invitation.

The invitation e-mail had a bottom line saying : As far as I know, Stocksy is image-exclusive + no images of the same shoot allowed on other agencies (I think). But where can we find the rules for becoming an Offset Artist? I'm not going to send an application e-mail without first knowing if I like to join or not ...

Happy for you Jonathan, but I'm afraid I'm not following the same trend : down 20% compared to April, and down 15% compared to last year's May (and my port is constantly growing). Especially the SOD's are way down.

If I understand correctly, the idea is to reveal real names and 1 portfolio link to logged in members. I am OK with both, but I wonder if the poll should not be split up in yes/no for both changes. Reading the posts I have the impression that people object more to showing their real name than to revealing 1 portfolio link to logged in members.

I simply cannot figure out this new "most popular". Looking at my own port, sorted by MP, the top images are not my most popular images at all. Since the MP re-mix, my files that sold on a daily basis jumped to page two, and other files jumped ahead. I've always thought that MP meant : best selling images compared to number of days on-line. Well, right now, that is certainly NOT the case with my images. As a result of this re-mix, a customer has no way of knowing what the REALLY best-selling images are (while this is easily checked at DST, FT and IS). Also, if in a few days/weeks the old MP is re-established, then my bestsellers will no longer be bestsellers, as they have skipped a month of sales and lost their place. First I thought that SS simply raised the importance of the days-on-line in the algorithm, but on the other hand, I can see many old (unpopular) files sell a few times.

I guess it all depends on who wanted or needed the deal more. What if Istock and Getty have both been haemorrhaging sales/customers/revenue for several months or quarters? If content is king then gaining the exclusive services of "the world's most popular microstock photographer" might boost sales and also help justify their prices. Under such circumstances I could certainly imagine non-standard terms being offered.
This move by Yuri gives me the feeling that our whole effort on 2nd February (D-Day against Google Drive Deal) was completely in vain. I deleted 1000 files that day to make a statement to both Getty and Istock. To me, Yuri's move to Getty/IS means we lost that battle, even more than IS ignoring our effort.

Yes, May can have a slow start, but then this should be a general trend over all sites. For me, the first half of May is up for Fotolia, DST and DP, down just a bit for IS and CAN, 35% down for SS and status quo for all other sites (I never count the EL's).

Hello all, At Shutterstock, we perform regular tests of small modifications to search. Those tests are typically released to limited segments of the overall customer population. If a test wins over time which typically means that the changes have demonstrably increased the total number of customer downloads then the resulting improvements are accepted and deployed.
Search testing and analysis is a continuous process of small improvements that generally wont result in dramatic swings in search. Changes are carefully tested and evaluated to make sure that the overall effect on customer downloads and/or purchases is a positive one.
Customer demand, content differentiation, keyword quantity and quality, global holidays, seasonality and other factors can affect an individual contributor's day-to-day earnings. We recommend allowing a little time before evaluating the effect on your personal portfolio.
Sincerely, Anthony Correia Director, Contributor Success Shutterstock|Bigstock
How long is "a little time", as my SOD's and OD's have gone down about 35% since the start of May (and subscription downloads about -20%). As Jonathan R. said, this is the first time for such a significant change in Most Popular search. How long are we supposed to sit and watch sales go down before we are allowed/supposed to complain/panic ?

Sorry, but I can't help thinking this is bad for all people with P+ and E+ files. If all my P+ files get back to their original price level, this will be another drop in IS income.

Slight increase, but still more than 15% down compared to last year. Keywording is in English, I live in Belgium.

I've never had a problem. I requested a payout yesterday. It went through fine. I'd try a different browser.
It worked !! (in Firefox) Why didn't I think of that! And also : why did GLO support not think of that? I gave you a heart, but you deserve 3.

What's request payout? 4 months without a single sale!
yes, it does take a LOOOONG time to get there, but I suppose you could try and hit that button once, just for fun, to test if you get the same error page.
