Lol, yeah, good images make more than $1 a year.  Much more.

Even bad ones do  ;D

of course, 1$ per year is really peanuts!

unless we talk per agency, that said I only see over 1$ per year at SS and 2$ at IS

« on: May 25, 2012, 14:07 »
Both are being removed for "approved by accident".

What? How idiotic.

a few months ago maybe one year there was a topic about this matter and almost everybody had pictures removed, I had over 100 and I believe elenathewise had a few hundreds too

Don't suppose it'll go viral on YouTube as there are no kittens or anyone getting inadvertently injured :)

4 days and 1 Million, guess they have sent it to all clients, etc..

New Sites - General / Re: Pocketstock
« on: May 25, 2012, 11:45 »
Got one too. Site doesn't look too bad a bit slow though. The offer is quite acceptable.

1. their royalties aint that great but looking at all top agencies dont know..
2. they need to make it faster to submit, its quite boring to choose if your picture was taken by a cell phone or not for every file you upload, they should come up with a default option or something..
3. the payout seems a little high too $70/60/70

Royalty Schedule
Star Rating    Non-Exclusive    Exclusive
Orange Star (1 - 149)    30%    35%
Bright Star (150 - 1,499)    32%    36%
Bronze Star (1,500 - 4,999)    34%    37%
Silver Star (5,000 - 14,999)    36%    40%
Gold Star (15,000 - 49,999)    38%    43%
Diamond Star (50,000+ downloads)

I like taking a gamble sometimes but if microstock sites were horses, most of them have fallen at the first hurdle and that's not much fun when you have money on it.

no no I will get the 150$ help with 500$ on the 1st month ;D

you and all those agencies have my support, not CC once they kicked me out

$150 For the Contributor

You will receive a 100% royalty rate for your first 100 sales.

how long till those 100 got into our account??  ::) ::)

seriously pull the base for 50%, I am sure you know many new agencies "giving us" those numbers, best of luck

I guess I'm not sure what you're asking. But are you saying the lowest contributor rate should be 50%? I totally understand about those agencies saying different things. I'm curious to know if any of the stock sites have been built by contributors?

there is warmpicture, irockstock.. again my question is when will you return my 150$?

I would expect to see a return within the first month of the site being live. It also depends on how many images you load. The larger your portfolio, the faster you will be able to make that back (and more). For example, 100 downloads at an example price of $5 is $500, so you made more than double the original $150.

I will make 500$ on the first month? oh boy...

I find the reasons why Yuri stopped uploading are more to do with the way his site operates than any altruistic reasons.

exactly!

BTW I heard he had an English muffin and eggs for brunch today!

bet he is hungry ;D

actually other agencies can say they will remove our pictures but in the end how can we be sure of that? will we get into their servers and see for ourself?

honestly I don't see a problem with having files deactivated

finished here too I guess.. after 8 months over/close to 200 downloads, I have dropped to 175

4065
Just wanted to know that how is vectoriel.com
Do any one upload in there and how is the sales there?

a while ago I had a long discussion with them about their pricing, not worth really, it is very low

Be sure to let us know what he has for breakfast tomorrow.

Rumour has it that he had lunch today as well but obviously we are working to get that verified by a second source before it can be reported as 'news'. A spokesman for the 'Yuri' confirmed that he had eaten food recently but refused to confirm any further details. Pointedly, the spokeman refused to deny the partaking of food within the general region of the 'Yuri' in the last 24 hours. Hmmm.

oh no! another leak :-\

We all worry about the future of our business and think about having alternative sources of income. I know I do. So maybe it is a good thing to see that some professional financiers are optimistic about the future of microstock (even if we don't necessarily trust those guys).

there is plenty to cut... IS set the bar quite high, actually low

I'm 'silver' at Fotolia and I've just noticed that my subscription earnings went from 29 to 28 and 26 cents. I just checked the FAQ section on pricing and commissions and it clearly says c29 for a non-exclusive contributor. Also some of the normal credit purchases went down to something like 22.5% instead of the generous 25% I should be getting.
It's funny that in 2008 when I started I was getting more per download than I'm getting now being half my way up to gold.

gotta be an United States sale

4070
Personally, I would be delighted to have less of Yuri's content on the sites I upload to.  Ultimately it may translate into more visibility for the rest of us.

he wonder that himself, thats why he got his own

ahah just another note lol he havent upload to SS for a longer time 5/11/11

A slightly older interview (pre-IPO talk) with Jonathan Klein. http://www.stockphototalk.com/phototalk/2012/03/jonathan-klein-on-getty-images-and-crowdsourcing.html

thanks for sharing!

I wonder why JK says how many tons of millions GI have done in the past 17 years but hey they keep 85% (of indies), what a great way to run a business instead of looking for more buyers, they do know how to run a business and we contributors are doing a heck of a job filling their pockets :)

another cool thing is how he said that clients want content for free but they cannot do that, hell they cannot or they would be so poor :(

4073
Though Im kicking myself for not joining at the same time as Yuri and Monkey business :(

at least you have Platinum from start ;D

I also think it would be a disaster for the SS!

Customers want excellent, not "exclusive" photos under their nose...

customers might want exclusive content, hell they do want exclusive stuff, if not how is so much money made on IS by exclusives..
