I believe it's pretty well established that iStock's turnover is three or four times Shutterstock's but what interests me is the amount that I get paid. Istock commissions are spread across a much larger pool of suppliers and may average a lower percentage than SS, though it is impossible to know for sure.
exactly.. this guy needS to sit down and read instead of openning these wow topics

Wish you'd said it was by Paul Melcher, that would have saved me the effort of clicking on the link.
why is that? I do follow his blog and I do find it interesting most of the times, sure many negativism but some well written opinions and facts..

Presumably it would only be a benefit to your or the agency if you have people visiting your FB page who might buy images, but don't already use the agency/your port. Otherwise, you're possibly just annoying your contacts/friends, especially if they're the sort of boring stocky photos that sell well, but are not the sort you show your friends. (Take that with a pinch of salt if you like. I'm on FB, but for me it's totally pointless altogether as I hardly know anyone else who's on there.)
exactly.. I honestly dont understand why posting I sold this or got this approved because in the end if you havent got any buyers there its basically just screwing your own business in the long run, I noticed that quite often, a guy selling a wrinkled paper everyday and a few weeks after more 4 or 5 friends more report sales on newer files and what is it? the wrinkled paper lol sure other do it thinking of the referral earnings, I guess looking for buyers/sellers referral income but in fact I dont believe it will work out.. again wasting time and money

I'm lost to what this thread it about, but it seems that everybody is posting in this thread.
Seeing I missed the million club I better get in on this one.
this is by far the greatest topic regarding speculation in MSG, so pop in and raise the bar!

That could be a good thing. In fact how could it get any worse? Images are sold for peanuts and we get, on average, 30% out of it.
Too funny. You obviously weren't there at the beginning of microstock, when the images were free and then started selling for something like 25 cents.
the competition was a lot smaller/weaker, not saying I want that time back (myself only from 2009) but perhaps if we all started back in 2002 microstock would be even worst..

i mean, it's just a 2 minutes job robbing a tourist of his camera+lens, kicking him from behind, beating him up on the floor, and running away with 1000s of dollars in stolen gear.
how about insurance? not talking about the beating lol

It says here that the domain imagegate.com is up for sale? http://whois.domaintools.com/imagegate.com
How serious can you be as an agency which is willing to sell the domain?
are you reading the same stuff I am? actually its says 2015 We're sorry, but the domain name you are looking for is no longer available through auction. Try searching for another domain name.

AFAIK image exclusive. Never tried to apply.
I have images there and they are not image exclusive. They do not accept images that you also have uploaded on the micros. They are a traditional/midstock agency. Give them a try and report back your results
sounds like you are full of it Ed, I am talking about $$$

In the past, I think many new posters here were discouraged by a couple of blowhard "pros" who loved to jump in and tell people how naive, unskilled and clueless they were. Thankfully at least a couple of those jerks seem to have lost interest and don't pontificate as often.
LOL

are you serious? real people might sell very well too but there is no doubt that buyers are WAY IN to buy Yuri perfect model and location etc
if you and other tog like to shoot that, its a totally different question but in fact even the people saying they like to do their own stuff and ideas ended up doing the same as Yuri, what will they shoot? crazy concepts one after another? you can count those on your own hands! the majority of mouth full artistic guys that keep on saying that they are doing something different and what really enjoy are full of crap actually, they are shooting the exact subjects Yuri approaches, the regular stuff like sports outdoor, business woman on a train, at the cosmetic store, at the coffee.. etc
sure there are many that go with the real a lot further but thats a minority actually.. not saying I dont enjoy it, actually I do and a lot.. my point is that people keep on talking this and that about Yuri style but 90% go after the exact same models/poses/situations/locations etc.. so cut the crap (talking to all people that say that approach stock in an artistic way)
