iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock Down Merge
« on: July 08, 2016, 15:21 »
Got a survey to fill out, I typed some suggestions in at the end. Survey would not go through, I deleted my suggestions and it went through!! Go Figure

I use a custom version of slog2 and color correct from there. Very little needed

I have dropped my Exclusive Status in video there this past month. I have been exclusive with iStock/Getty since 2007. I am ever grateful for the people that helped me there. There are still great people in the video dept. My sales have gone down overall over the past 12 months, I was treading water but could never seem to grow. It was a business decision for me so I will let you know how being non-exclusive video turns out for me over the next year. I am excited about the future and have gained a life and skill set I never had before. I have been living on stock full-time since 2010! My second boy was born in 2010 so I will never regret the time I have been able to spend with my family even if I lost it all today. I have been blessed and look forward to the future.

If I don't like Pond5 I don't have to submit my work there! I am fine with it. There will always be a market for good unique quality work. I have been shooting stock full-time for 6 years now, I understand the market and markets change.

I have learned there are never is a good moments for tough choices, you just have to make it one!

iStock/Getty has been great for me to learn to shoot stock. My income has been falling for months no matter what I shot so I found it time to move on. I could go on a rant about them but in all honesty this is just a business decision. I want to focus on high end 4k work for the most part and if Stocksy opens for video I would try there. If not I will do exclusive shoots for Dissolve and other stuff I will spread out to others. I can't see the sense in shooting more and more just to see my income go down for months. Getty can be good and the next mont I will have 80% of the video sales for  $10.00 or less. I am just finished with the games of that. Still love what I do and I know there is a long few months ahead as my clips get indexed. I do other video work as well so I won't go hungry :-)

I have dropped my exclusive status and this is one reason why! I don't care to sell 4k the same as HD, I will not and have stopped loading any 4k to iStock.

« on: June 03, 2016, 11:09 »
Thankful I have not dropped that bad but I can never seem to go up. I have dropped my Exclusivity!

434
Mostly other work but I have sold clips through social media as well.

435
Because of posting my work on social media I have gotten thousands of dollars of work from people. So in an indirect way
it does make me money!

436
LOL I like that one and probably correct!

437
Please stop with the growing and sustainable crap!! others pay 50% and are doing just fine! It is money that makes me happy! Take a case lesson on what happened at iStock with these sustainable changes. Getty has nothing to fear from 500px! Sorry but I thought you learned from your mistakes. Don't submit there anyway, just frustrated to see bad business choices made.

Photography Equipment / Re: D750 for microstocks

I have an Oly EM1 and just love it! Went from a Canon 5d Mark II for it and no regrets after 2 years. I use it now and then for video as well and does better then expected.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Have you seen your footage on tv?
« on: February 18, 2016, 15:42 »
I have seen mine on CSI, Oprah, CBS News, Nashville, Pep Boys, Auto Zone, GE and the list goes on :-) this is just what I have seen.

443
I make a living at stock video but it isn't easy! Love it and no I am not posting my numbers.

444
Those stats could be true, I have seen ports like that.

Classic view is gone from me here in the USA SC. Wonder if buyers will care?

447
I subscribe to VB for content and this is only for the unlimited library not the Market Place!

448
They same for me and two other companies

449
They have not started the RF yet for Getty so I hope it is better for everyone.

450
Well my RR files are about worthless now! I feel like I have been mugged and kicked.
