yes there probably are spammers, even though there was a very good webinar tutorial about such things (particularly aimed at newbies). I personally love that I can get away with fewer keywords. I've had a few images rejected for style, nothing said about keywords so far, so I guess it's open slather. sad but realistic that there will always be a few who are selfish (and ... what's a nice word for "stupid"?).

I suspect they might just be realising that a blog is redundant. if you aren't posting something long and wordy (like a travel piece, review or recipe) then FB does just fine.

what categories? I only do: title description, keywords, MR. there are no categories to add things to, unless it's my own gallery.

the forums are still going strong, perhaps that's where the action is?

Thanks for the compliment but the reason I am doing well is why I wanted to stay a bit low profile.
you wanted to stay unnoticed by posting what a great month you are having? ps. love your port.

they can't have lost records of the sales, can they? we are already being asked to trust the PP sites to report correctly, in addition to iS, who continue to prove that they can't be trusted to do anything they say.

It's halfway through a Canadian weekend (give or take), and I've only had one PP sale through, from 3rd. I know I only have a small port, but I usually see more than that, especially if this weekend is May AND June. It sounds like I'm not alone in seeing far fewer sales than expected (though do correct me if I'm wrong), which is a) reassuring, it's not just that my port has gone down the plughole, and b) concerning, what is going on with PP?
Its knackered mate.
"Knackered". Had to use my dictionary for that one. The Istock forum is really good for my English. I'm learning lots of new words they don't teach you at school in Belgium
in lesser polite terms I'd say "buggered" rather than "knackered".

Got banned as I was a little annoyed that the PP sales came in so slowly, and Lobo couldn't handle my cynicism.
I simply posted: "We won't get our money before Monday, mark my words."
bummer. a harmless and true enough sentiment. I think they're quite touchy about PP, as they know it's a mess.

I am just so annoyed right now. I have enough to cash out but I want to wait for the PP payments - to top off the tank so to speak. But they seem to have stalled. Quelle surprise!
I just hate the idea of letting IS keep my money but I am too stubborn to ask for payout before I get what is due me. Am I cutting off my nose to spite my face or just being greedy?
I'd cash out now, it could take another week to get PP completed and by then (depending on how much you sell) you may be close to payout again?

I guess I don't need any more places to never sell anything. :-)

hopefully it means they are trying to do stuff, although I have nothing more than one PP sale for the 2nd may.

or knocked over their glass of wine... which happened to me last week. = one dead macbook pro
that happened to me too a few years ago. at least we have bragging rights of officially having a glass of wine that cost over a thousand bucks.
lol, good one. although with my insurance it'll be down to just $250 (for the excess). and I didn't do it, my 8yo did it, although I probably should have been more careful with an 8yo in the room.

getting 503 error when attempting to check my sales- could they be upgrading the PP?
no, surely you'd have a planned outage for upgrades? how does PP reporting crash the whole site??

Okay month so far and I am selling photos of my house with snow on it - go figure, snow pics selling in early July?
I've been selling Xmas images every week. although mine are summer xmas images, and I suppose you could 'shop out the xmas bit and have a summer image as a bonus. Plus, there's also the fact that it is winter on half the planet...

It's not supposed to start until the weekend. http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=354958&page=1
Hi tickstock,
Thank you for the link. Which I've been reading since it's started. But I'm confused, why some people has already reported that's they had one or two PP sales.
this is indeed a very good question. i've now had one show up for the 2nd also.

Did you go up from 1 to 2 sales, or from 100 to 146 sales?
ha! good one. I'm still on 0 at GL so I can't wait to announce I've made infinity % improvement.

Thanks everyone. Certainly will keep pushing. So much to learn with this industry. Got to be more conceptual and work out timing of images too. For example kids and Christmas images going up in September.
last year was my first real Christmas and I got caught out by uploading a bit late with some stuff - although I did take note of advice here and shoot one series of xmas stuff at the beach in Sept, which sold very well. Curiously, I am still selling xmas images at least once a week, which surprises me as it's aussie beach/summer xmas, not cliched northern hemisphere xmas. I find it hard to make winter images as i'm usually too cold to be bothered with photography. That's the curse of being a wussy tropical Australian. I'm going to NZ in September and I'm planning on taking a bauble so i can make some winter xmas images, so I can have both type of images in my port. (that's the plan, although it may fall apart as there are many great wine regions in NZ too)

I don't disagree with the notion of disabling files that are 4 years old with no sales (& low views?), but DT presuming they can have these "useless" images in a free section seems odd... a bit Libran really. Do they like them, or not?
The free section is full of so much junk as to be almost useless searching through, although I suppose that's a good thing.

I'm sure it has or will have some influence on best match, otherwise, what's the point? And the point is obviously to boost some contributors over others. It certainly isn't applied per image as our Vetta friend OJO+ shows.
However, it's surprising they unveiled it with zero explanation. To me, it's another attempt to copy something from stocksy.
Alamy had editors pick long before Stocksy.

Exactly. And Dreamstime's had Editor's Picks for as long as I can remember - certainly quite a number of years.
and I recall getting a bonus $5 once for an editorial editor's pick on DT.

always happy to have my errors pointed out, as I do indeed dislike poor spelling and grammar in others, particular in a written forum. I shall look forward to returning the favour.

The internet spiraled out of control and there is no education or other means to explain not everything on the internet is free. Its too little too late.
not sure why you got a - for this, as I agree. (but perhaps it relates to my idea that you've upset someone before? I was tempted to + it to even it up but it would ruin my point) +1 so many users have no clue that Google images aren't free. i've mentioned this before: the art teacher at my children's primary school actually teaches them how to search and download images, and she thinks they are free to use. this problem isn't going to go away.
