I've had these before and there is no extra $$$. Whatever the normal image would sell for given the size and rights is what you will get for the RAW.
You are only partly correct. Additional Format (credits) (vector/RAW) double the royalties for the largest size available for download Additional Format (subscription) (vector/RAW) standard subscription royalties (NOTHING EXTRA)Now, why in the world would anyone provide the raw file for no additional compensation? Even doubling the price on credits won't get you a beer and bowl of peanuts at the pub.

In my opinion don't do it. Not worth providing your raw file (if that's what you shoot) for the peanuts they give for it. I've gotten several of these and just decline.

I am over 5k credits so I will be at 50% as well. That calculator is a pain in the Rumpelstiltskin.

There's no doubt I made a mistake putting all my eggs in one basket, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. It could have gone differently. I coulda beena contender.
Ah well, the beauty of this business is I still own 10,000 stock photos that I'm free to put anywhere I want. There's always next year.
You, sir, have an amazing portfolio.
I second that one!

Action taken by us has had little effect in the past few years. Sites are still trying to lower the amount they pay us. There's a few sites that haven't cut their commissions and what we really need is for lots more buyers to move to them. How can we persuade them to do that?
I dont know how you can move buyers but you can bring down a company. The problem is you need a big chuck of contributors to pull their portfolio, including the Yuris and Seans of stock. But this will never happen. 123 is the next big chance to show we no longer tolerate cuts, but I am afraid it will all blow over in 2 weeks, just as it all blew over at Alamy. Business as usual and all agencies now know that they can cut all they want, a few will leave but the rest will all take it up the tail pipe.
Right^^

Oh I am taking the sales, no worries. I am just intrigued by it. Thats all.
Poncke, get used to the "unknown". Trying to figure out anything in micro is intriguing, but not realistic. Floundering with possibilities makes it fun to ponder, but unrealistic to realize.

SS was just fine, up to the usual average month, which now varies a few dollars, month after month. And I'm happy with that. Used to be 50/50 with IS now SS is 3-4 times all the rest together.
The rest of the places?
 Sales on the other sites.
That's a good one, Mr. Race.

Since I just turn 86yrs. old, my number one goal is to survive another year. Also it would be nice if I could continue to fly and take aerial photos. Making a little more money from my microstock port would be icing on the cake
Smiling Jack
I hope so too. It's great to have you around here Jack
A BIG ++ to that!!

4. Image standards.
We accept Images 2400 x 1600 pixels or larger.
Images with very high resolution have a better chance of being sold, as they are more suitable for a variety of layouts.
We do not accept Images up-sampled by interpolation due to the loss of quality when compared to original Images of the same size.
We accept Images only in JPEG format (RGB color space).
Do not submit TIFF, PSD, PNG, BMP files, even great photos will be rejected.
It's on their site.
RGB is the umbrella, you still need to choose sRGB, ProPhoto RGB or Adobe RGB
Yes, personally you do, but they clearly accept most RGB formats. They have both Adobe RGB and SRGB from me, so perhaps they convert on their end.

Every month my IS portion of sales drops. PP goes up "just" enough for me to stay at "the norm" The norm has been for the last four years at least. I hate to say it but PP has saved my can from recurring revenue dump every month. November was despicable from an IS standpoint. SS up by $75 over best month so BME there. All other sites (FT, DP, PD, CanStockPhoto, BigStock, SF, Alamy, 123) all avg, no BME's here.
Maybe PP is going up because it's the reason regular sales are going down.
That thought has crossed my mind many times, although I have no proof. I can only infer, but would be interested to hear others' perspectives. I think I recall hearing other MSG'rs saying something along these same lines.

Congrats JoAnn, very encouraging. But, I'm not. My month that started strongly faded. BS and DT were up -- especially DT -- but SS let me down.
Nearly 3 months of anticipation and Can Stock still hasn't sold an image for me.
Your photos are probably overqualified for CanStockPhoto. Submit crapstock and your sales will fly
Ha!
As I can make sense of it, it appears that illustrators do best at CanStock. I really like Duncan and what he's done over the years, but it's a shame they can't be at the top of the middle tier.
And thanks for the congratulations. I think my conclusion is that, for me anyway, leaving exclusivity was a good move. When I look at the November stats thread on IS, it's painful to read. That could have been me...
Do you think that the traction you're experiencing is simply related to your transition? Lisafx is not reporting great growth in the face a great uploads, but you are. I suspect that you're excellent work is starting to filter through all of the unknowns and gaining steam. Happy for you.

That's not what he said at all.
What did he infer then because I happen to agree with vanphoto, although Barry's comments do have some real meaning if you place them in the right context.

Now, if they could do more nice things like increase commissions and remain active in the forums, listen to contributor ideas, respond to contributor ideas, etc.... They could be the next big agency.

I feel much more positive about microstock nowadays so I want to significantly increase my output in 2013 and take advantage of the opportunity to increase earnings that I believe now exists. When previously iStock was dominant I never felt particularly in control of my earnings as a change to the best match could wipe out months if not years of work overnight.
Shutterstock, together with BigStock, now generates over 50% of my microstock earnings and, as a result, I am more confident that the effort to produce good images will be rewarded. It seems to me that SS's default sort-order is a true meritocracy and the money is there to be earned if your images are good enough. I don't anticipate the situation at SS changing much anytime soon either, irrespective of the IPO. What they've been doing up to know has served them extremely well and I think they'll will continue doing much the same for the foreseeable future. All my data suggests that customers will continue to migrate to SS from other agencies and SS is likely to become even more dominant in 2013.
My main concern for 2013 is that the trickle of exclusives that have been giving up their crowns recently could turn in to a flood next year. A couple of bad months at IS might be enough to burst the dam. Not sure what the effect of all those new images appearing at other agencies would have on independents' income but it's unlikely to help.
That dam already has some pretty big holes in it.

Thanks, Boris. And congrats, Leaf. Always nice to see the fruits of your labor, or should I say "grains" of your labor.

I hit my current 17 percent in August but no freakin way I will come close to 18%. That is a monumental task, especially for a measly 1%. Like has been stated, hitting new target levels is a partnership, not a one way model we contributors must follow. By keeping 80+ % of the revenue you'd think that the site functionality, marketing efforts and relationships would be key priorities, but unfortunately it is indeed a one way model left for contributors to muscle through alone.
