put the operating system on the 10,000 drive.
You don't want the operating system on a raid drive. When things go fidely with a power cord, or the computer crashes and it has to repair the raid drives etc etc.. you don't want one of the drives in error to be the system drive. If you are using an RAID 0 also make sure that you keep your stuff backed up well. RAID 0 improves performance but actually makes safety of your files worse because there are now 2 drives to die, and if one of them dies, information on both of them is lost.
I would use the RAID 0 drive for your scratch disk though since the cache drive should be something other than the system drive.

I have just bought a computer (monitor is waiting until I decide for apple cinema display 20" or nec multisync 20wgx2pro)
Computer is:
processor: core2quad 9300 2.5
ram: 4gb ddr2 800
hard disk 1: 1x 72gb 10.000
hard disk 2: 2x 500gb 7.200 RAID 0
Where would you instal OS and Photoshop for more speed? HD 1 wich is 10.000 rpm or HD 2 wich is 7.200 rpm but RAID 0?
And where would you set the photoshop scratch disk? hd1 or hd2?
I have the choice of changing the RAM to ddr3 or/and 1066mhz is there any appreciable difference?

Vaya, estoy impresionado. Casi hay mas post aqui que en ingles  Quiz no fuera mala idea empezar a disparar motivos hispanos... aunque no tengo muy buena experiencia en ello. Hace poco sub unas 100 fotos a SS, en todas aparecan varias palabras en ingls y en dos de ellas en espaol. Todas aprovadas salvo las 2 en espaol. Razn: Composition... Evidentemente la razn era el idioma ya que la foto era identica a las otras 98. Curiosamente si mirais las palabras mas buscadas en SS, aparecen muchas en espaol...

Sorry for the longish post... but I went through a lot of sample monitors from such companies as Eizo, read many reviews and spoke with several experts in color management before I realized this simple truth.
Your comments are appreciated. Thank you. I heard good reviews of these two monitors. If the apple cinema display could be calibrated on a pc with (or without) a calibrator I will go for it. Any experiences on it??

I will use it on a pc.
The cinema display only have bright controll and you cant modify anything else by software on a pc (or thats what I read)
But could you calibrate this monitor with a calibrator (spyder or huey)?

Almost the same price (the Nec is a bit cheaper)
Both have ips panel
I read somewhere that the apple is a bit difficult to calibrate. Is it true?

Yo creo que, con esfuerzo y mucha dedicacin, es posible vivir de esto ahora. La questin es si ser posible hacerlo dentro de un ao, o de dos. Creo que cada vez ser ms difcil por la saturacin del mercado.
Estoy de acuerdo. Los portafolios crecen, los standards se endurecen en bastantes sitios, el funcionamiento de los motores de busqueda...

Normally it is an automatic process. Isnt it? You have to do nothing to transfer images to the site from the ftp folder right?
Another question:
Images have keywords and categories but they are not "artist edited", are they in the review queu or you have to have to hit "edit" one by one until it appear "artist edited: yes" (what is a long hard work)?
