The same thing happened to me on DP once, except I had plenty for a payout and someone immediately made a payout request. The interesting thing was that they didn't request all of the money, only part of it. It was a nuisance but easily straightened out at least. Good advice about reading those e-mails!

It isn't our annual bonus? Bummer.

I did, but I submitted it to microstock and now it's a 25-cent photo.

Between 1 and 6 days lately. They used to always review them all in one batch but now they straggle through over a period of a few days. And some rejections for similars lately, and some for noise/grain on images without any noise or grain that were accepted everywhere else no problem. Weird.

It started slow but ended up being fine - a little less than April last year but no complaints. That was mainly due to higher-value sales - more clip sales than usual at SS, multiple ELs on SS and even one on 123, Canva doing great (although a lot less than last year), FT very strong, DT and CS weak, others OK and even a couple of sales on featurepics. Wish it would continue but without the rare, high-value sales it would be grim as volume was down more than 300 DLs from April 2016.

I've had some new images sell - it seems to depend on the subject. Some others got noticed after a couple of months. I think it is probably better to have them online - they make you nothing on your hard drive.

Unfortunately I think that's your only option. They said they would work on the contributor pages at some point but I'm not going to hold my breath. As long as they keep getting sales that's the main part, although it definitely would be nice to be able to search our own images more easily.

I agree I havent been uploading for some time and it doesnt have any effect on sales. its a fallacy.
You can never know for certain - if you had continued uploading maybe your sales of existing images would be twice what they are. There is never a way to objectively know about the path not taken unless you do an experiment with two identical portfolios. I have stopped uploading for long periods of time and haven't seen too much of a dropoff, but I have no idea what might have happened if I had uploaded continuously since I didn't do it. It's interesting that the poll now has FT ahead of iS and 50% of SS - that is not my experience but the trend is similar at least.

I had a great 10-day vacation in the Carolinas.

To me the main changes looked like they are lowering the payout amount from $75 to $50 and they are putting the legal onus on making sure everything is OK on to the photographer and exonerating themselves. The other changes looked like minor wordsmithing to me.

Click in the upper left by your name to bring down the menu, then click Account settings, then Admin, then View portfolio. I don't think you can search it but it will show your images with decision with the most recent first. Hope that is what you were looking for.

Is it banned to walk there because people may hurt themselves or because they can ruin the attraction?
Both. Those idiots could have damaged the site and got themselves seriously burned in the process. Should have given them a big fine and thrown them in jail for a few days just for sheer stupidity.

We have to wait a year? Is that what they said? I thought they were going to send us the money expeditiously as soon as they closed the accounts. If they want us to wait a year then maybe it is time for a class-action lawsuit.
I tried to check my account just now and their page won't load - very annoying. I suspect they are planning to run off with the money and keep it.

I dont know why Adobe pays me out in Euro, probably because Im in the EU country. I didnt find any option to change it to dollars.
They pay me in British pounds even though I live in the US and signed up with their US site. I asked them to change it and they said that is impossible, which is ridiculous - I used to work as a computer programmer and that would be very easy to change if they had the will. They just don't care. I have no idea how that happened unless I accidentally clicked something wrong when signing up - I would certainly never ask to be paid in a foreign currency. I don't want to pay the conversion fees so that money is sitting in my Paypal account - I guess I will be ready the next time I go to Britain.

I just got an e-mail from them today saying they have deleted my images. Glad I never bothered uploading many there and stopped quite a while ago. Hopefully they will send the money soon and can be done with them.

And they can be for a lot more (and less) than that. Last month mine ranged from $1.47 to $75. Be happy when you get them!

It's when it's withholding for taxes in other countries that can be an issue. If your country has a double taxation treaty with the country that is withholding tax, then you should be able to offset if against what you owe in your own country. You're pretty much out of luck if you live in a tax free country though, or there's no double taxation treaty.
Very true. In the US you can just file it as credit for a foreign tax paid, but if in a country without a tax treaty that wouldn't work. Are there countries with no income tax? I know some US states don't have income tax but didn't know about any countries.

You should get an e-mail when they actually send it and probably one from Paypal as well. I usually get mine by the 7th.

Mine are still up there and even had a sale. One of mine apparently was trending as well but that didn't keep me in their fold. Maybe they've suddenly realized they will have to come up with the cash to pay out the closed accounts and have rethought.

I had two subs and that was it. I guess it was a spike compared to the previous couple of days but pretty pathetic really.

I see what you're saying but there's a big difference between money in the account of a stock agency and your bank account. Let's take DT for an example. They don't pay out until you request it. Usually I just let the money there accumulate and request a big payout once a year in December. One year it took them a while to process the request and they didn't actually make the payout until January. So I had zero income from them for the year before but had to report that money during the next year. The IRS only knows what is reported on the 1099 so it makes no difference to them either way. I'm not an accountant, but I assume companies have categories for money earned and not paid out, which probably complicates the books. I assume that is why many agencies go to automatic payouts above a limit to minimize the amounts in limbo. The money has been credited, but not earned for tax purposes until it has been paid, except at FT and Envato. To be safe I go with the 1099 because that is what the IRS knows about. It certainly is confusing though.

Much to my surprise, a BME on SS by a wide margin due to more high-value SODs than usual and lots of ODs, plus even a couple of ELs. FT about half what it had been - many base-level subs and even some sales for 25 cents - no idea what those are for, I didn't think they went that low. Canva way off what it was a few months ago and getting less every month, unfortunately. Other agencies moribund. However, with SS doing so well it is a second BME overall. I am assuming this is a statistical blip and will be back to depressing next month but in the meantime will celebrate March.

but, if earnings were only reported at the point of withdrawal, then somebody earning tens of thousands of dollars a year, could just choose not to withdraw it and then not have to pay any taxes... as nothing would have been reported.
Yes, that is correct - they would not pay any taxes because they haven't received any income. If they want to spend the money they will have to withdraw it and pay their taxes. I prefer to pay taxes only on money that was withdrawn, as it isn't really earned if it isn't in your pocket. However, either way works as long as you know about it. I try to request a payout around the middle of December every year to minimize the difference for those agencies that don't pay out automatically.

I always thought that if you send a 10-99 to the IRS with a total amount on it that you were saying in effect "I paid this person X amount of money and they are responsible for tax on it".
I think that's exactly what they are saying, and they really need to pay you the money. I suppose you could report them as lying to the IRS - not sure if they would do anything, but if anyone else is in this situation and they report them as well then maybe the IRS would take notice. It would be interesting to get them in trouble with the IRS, especially since they fired most of us. I have had to pay tax because of them as well even though they haven't paid me the money, which I assume is coming this year once they terminate my account. However, if they don't pay me then I will report them myself!

Envato and FT both provide the amount earned during a calendar year to the IRS, regardless of whether it was paid (like all the other agencies do). Very annoying. For Envato that is the total sales price not the amount you earned - you need to deduct their seller fees off as a cost.
Since they reported the amount to the IRS I would include it in your income just to avoid any possible hassles. However, once you deduct off the 60% or whatever it is they keep it isn't going to add a lot to your taxes.
