What about thing not so drastic as pulling portfolios , like reduce keywords on approved images to 1 or something , or we can all write something against this in description field. They cannot throw us all out for that.

Actually, thinking about it after having read some more of the IStock thread, if we do go to StockFresh and it actually becomes successful surely Peter will just be selling it on quick smart (to Getty or similar) the same as he did with StockXpert. Same as Bruce did with IStock back in the day?
Jumping from ship to ship not going to get us anywhere, sadly.

Nothing unusual for me , I just get double triple uploads of same image , then few images missing , then whole batch gets rejected , then same batch gets accepted from 2nd attempt etc

Sorry, you're wrong. On Fotolia the withdraw only for sales in the US. At least for me...
You submitted the form right? I didn't and they withdraw tax on all of my sales.
So , u go and fill it , even if u are a non-treaty contributor they will stop withdraw tax from each sale.

So, Dreamstime is going to withdraw 30% from now on for all residents on non treaty countries?
No. If you read their statement any tax witholdings will only apply to earnings from US sales. As a European contributor your US sales are likely to be 15-20% of total earnings. If so, for a non-treaty contributor, your witholdings will therefore be closer to 6-7% to total earnings.
At least that is one point that SS appear to have learned from the mistakes at SS & FT.
Thanks Lisa for the heads-up on this issue.
On SS it's also only US sales but on FT it's all sales (it still is, they haven't changed it). I really don't understand why it comes to this difference?
Sorry, you're wrong. On Fotolia the withdraw only for sales in the US. At least for me...
You are right , for a non-treaty contributor on FT its only for sales in US , but you have to fill the form anyway , if u dont they take from every sale , at least it was like that for me

The game was on of the worst in wc , but is understandable because nobody wants to risk in final. Netherlands should have lack 4 players before end not only 1 , and nobody can say that karate kick didn't deserve red card , same as that start from the back in beginning, and Roben knew very well he is in offside when scoring that goal , should have been suspended because he already had 1 yellow card. Than again , before Spanish goal it was clear fault on edge of Spanish 16m , so I agree 1 of worst referees ever in finals , probably worse. Than again I remember another referee from same country showing 3 yellows in same game to same player in WC Personally , wanted Uruguay to win this

I was trying to find the website that has all the specs for the different agencies but I can't find it so here is what I know.
BigStock EPS (they generate the jpg) Dreamstime must upload the jpg then after it is approved you upload the EPS Shutterstock Eps+small jpg (same file name) and 1 large jpg (different file name) Deposit photos Eps+jpg zip file CanStockPhotos Eps+jpg zip file Veer Eps+jpg (same file name)
I've never uploaded vectors to iStock or Fotolia so you'll have to look on their website. I do know that you have to save the vector in EPS8 for iStock. Hope this helps with your original question.
I uploaded huge batch of jpgs on Dreamstime few months ago , wanted to wait approval and upload eps files after , but they refused all because they had keyword "vector" attached. Maybe its good to or remove that keyword from jpgs and put it later , or add eps files before review , I don't know if that is common practice or I was just "lucky" that day.

Great now my printer died Can I open that property release in PS and fill it by handwriting with tablet , put a handwritten tablet signature and use that , or that will not be legally worth? It not like a problem to print and scan , but I have few watercolors pending so I would like to upload that before they get refused.

Ty you all , ill try with that , hope it will work , I just don understand how they sometimes approve and sometimes don't , its about same style watercolors so they should have rejected everything , that got me confused. here is one sample of approved one: Madelaide , I did not have problems with digital paintings , I write in the description that Im the creator , that i made brushes that I use from my own work and that works for now , at least for images that are not rejected for over processing . Never got rejection for the reason like I pasted for watercolors.

Did you provide a property release?
No , sorry I ask but whats a property release , I mean i know what it is but is it needed for this ,and where to find one ,cause i never used that

Well recently they started rejecting all of my watercolors so I'm looking for some help for description. They used to take my abstract watercolor backgrounds ( most often one or two colors simple watercolors) , and now they are rejectin them for this reason: We regret to inform you that we cannot accept your submission, entitled Abstract watercolor ( http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/12393072/2/istockphoto_12393072-abstract-watercolor.jpg) for addition to the iStockphoto library for the following reasons:
Please provide a focused description for the work of art featured in this image. Aim to describe the artwork as well as possible (the artist, date of creation, location, etc). Works of art created by someone other than yourself must be free of copyright protection to be considered royalty-free.
In your description, please include any valuable information regarding the artist/ownership of the original artwork that will assist us in determining that the work of art is not subject to copyright protection. Make sure that your description is clear, helpful and targeted to the client who may be interested in your image (and not to the inspector).
If this work of art is indeed under copyright protection, a property release signed by the copyright holder will need to be provided. Thank you.Now my description goes like this: "Abstract watercolor painting hand painted by me , nice background for your projects". What am I doing wrong i stated i painted this so whats the problem , I don't get it , especially when I know they took other paintings with same description. Any ideas ?

After thinking for a while , i think they may be right , you had photos that are obviously connected with football (or soccer if u prefer) and used a "world cup term" , most probably u also used keyword "football". Apparently there is just one football world cup and its theirs , so even if you didn't used full term , everything else obviously show where u are pointing.
For example , if you had a photo of a gold cup trophy or whatever that can is called ( not the real one cause that statue is famous and copyrighted) , and used a "world cup" term but not football or some other sport keyword it would be ok cause there are many world cups and nobody can say you are digging in his yard.
Just my way of thinking

Any photographer who sees the demo on content-aware fill and doesnt salivate needs to be checked by a mental health professional.
I'll believe it when I can actually see the pixels of the results. Tell me the blades of grass match up, or the noise in the sky blends, etc. and then I'll think about an upgrade.
Yap Im thinking the same , if i had to bet I would put my money that removing large objects will leave problematic areas fully visible at 100% of large photos , that it will leave some kind or too regular background patterns that will not look natural (like on grass ) , so after u use that u will need additional work with clone and heal brushes , the question is only how much work. The good things it that the new tool will probably give way better starting point and save some time , especially on simple backgrounds like clear sky etc ..

Dont know about "world cup" , but I can tell u that nobody who likes football in Europe or in almost all countries where football is national sport number 1 , never uses term soccer , and never will , FIFA and UEFA dont use that term also.
I guess they cannot copyright "world cup" cause the term is used in other sports world championships finals , If I had to bet the term they own is "FIFA world cup" , but Im not 100% positive about that

I've been an advocate for closing open paths for years. I'm glad someone is finally bringing this heinous activity to the public's attention.
Perhaps a good opportunity to mention (again) that I am offering a FREE script for Illustrator CS4 that allows to close open paths, among other useful things: http://maps.aridocean.com/scripts_en.php
Thanks for this

Something changed for me for sure , and BS is on its best way to take lately at least unimpressive DT from 4 place , if someone told me it will happen few months ago id called him crazy cause the difference between those 2 was around 10x in DT favor.

Why order of importance if I may ask ?
Only fotolia valued keywords in importance , firs 7 i think , but didn't that chained ?
I was at very very long vacations so I'm maybe wrong now about that , but I'm not reorganizing keywords for no one , no way , if my sales suffer , so be it

Yap , today I had an grunge border reported for "border" keyword , people obviously don't have nothing else to do

All the sales I've made in 2010 have that "withholdings included at 28%" So does that mean they were sales sold in the US? ALL sales? Maybe you are looking the "Withholding" tab, that only shows the sales in which they retain a % (30% in my case) - yes, those are USA sales because only sales in USA are taxable. If you go to "My Credits" tab, you will probably see the regular non-US sales too.
Nope , it happened to me , if you don't sent them that W-8 BEN Form ( if you are in the country that hasn't signed a tax treaty with the U.S like in my case) they are withholding tax on every file sold, it was 28% in my case , when I sent them that online form they started to withhold only on US sales i assume and its 30% now

Thing that worry me is that my accepted images % is going down , from 85% I had , now I get maybe 20% accepted in last batches , everything gets rejected for same series reason , even unique images that don't have even any similarity with previously accepted images in my portfolio.
In last months I'm doing better at 123RF with portfolio almost 2 time smaller than I have on DT , so my earnings are also sinking there , I don't know whats happening but I don't like it.
Yesterday , first time ever I took a pencil , paper and a calculator and started thinking about exclusivity
