iStockPhoto.com / Re: Downloads Versus Uploads - Last 12 Months
« on: December 03, 2012, 08:09 »
Interesting feedback. Many thanks for those who supplied figures so far.

So far anyone is yet to have had any growth in the last year or even just maintained the status quo.

It is starting to sound like the old adage "Shoot, Upload, Repeat" is becoming more like you are  just chasing your own tail.

Also it's difficult for anyone with a reasonably sized portfolio to maintain the percentage growth of the collection as a whole.
Congratulations to those who find a niche which actually has a market!

Thnx

An old file, like 6 months, sold once I believe on SS, all of a sudden gets downloaded several times in the last week on a couple of agencies. I find that intriguing.

Same situation.
Only on one top agency.
We will see...

For pesimist has 24-105 on wide: DISTORTION.
For positive thinking people has picture like all wide lens
:)  which can be corrected with JUST ONE CLICK.
But if You have bad feeling about distortion : do not shoot under 28
:)
Enjoy.

New Sites - General / Ahh, naivety

As rookie ( when I did not know where is the best to upload) I have heard several times:
STICK WITH TOP AND MIDDLE TIER and You will have a sweet, calm sleep.

Old people in my part of world says: Donkey goes only once on ice.

 ;)

And this are words of our friend Duncan:
+++we are continuing to set monthly sales records nearly every month in a row +++

Really, Duncan ?

Interesting situation: before 50$ payout limit no more sells !!!

Yes, this is true!

Almost 1000 pics in portfolio, last few months nice sells (for CS) until reached 40 $.
Now finito, null, zero !
I upload every week, normal sales on other sites, on CS nada, niente, zero.

Upsss

Mine stats are ok today, except for PP.
Sales slower, but OK.

me too. i've only got 3 files up there currently, I gave up on them when I couldn't work out the MR system.
i shall wait for some big sales to spur me into ftp... they've quietly moved up the ranks of late so I'm going to put some stuff up.

This is good  ;)

Pond5 / Re: Releases - time to appear ?
« on: November 27, 2012, 04:36 »
does nobody know? I'm looking for any info on how to attach MR to images. not intuitive!!

ok, that link did help. took a few minutes for my release to appear, and then there's a dropdown menu below, but not in the edit process for each file, in the main page where "needs edit" files are waiting.

I asked support.
Answer was, that MR Yes will appear after inspectors checking.
No problem with uploading processs at all.
No sales, no views, that is the problem.

They got hit by Sandy and I'm sure they are working eager to get their operations back to a full 100%.

Out of all the agencies and the way they do business I'd put them right 2nd after SS. They simply deliver.

I upload my stuff and just know it will sell so who cares about review time?

This news rejoiced me.
And Your stuff are videos, photos?
How long are You already POND5 contributor?

I have almost 200 pics ( one month ) still no sales.
I do not know where to see views.
Maybe You know ?
Thx
Are you kidding. 200 files and no sales? Well I have 4131 files there with 17 sales so far :o.

Wow, at least now I know that somebody is buying photos on POND5  :)
Thx God, we have SS, IS, FT ...... There can also stock rookies, with small portfolio, do some business.
POND5 is great for videos, but for photos ???
NOt only sales, also my views are still on zero.
Same photo uploaded on DT on the same day before ca. 1 month.
Just for example on DT 24 views  2 sales, on SS 4 sales...
POND5   0 views  0 sales

And how many time did You spent for uploading Your 4131 photos?
Whether it was worth it ?

Anyone else noticing bugs at Pond5?

At the moment, I can't get 95% of images to show up. Some have thumbs, but most do not.

Also, I just got two sitemails from them approving my images, and the formatting of them scrolled way off the screen.

Plus, my portfolio count has been off by a couple of hundred for weeks now. Seems like it hasn't been updated with new approvals in a month or so.

Should I even mention that sales seem to have stopped? Last month was great and showed huge promise. This month, nothing... (EDIT: Few hours after typing this, a full-size sale came in. Strange how that often happens!)

Wait, wait, I also have NO sales.
Will type this and wait...
 ;)

Guys,

You really have too much time.
Do not be so pessimistic.

At this time I shoot and upload, shoot and upload,...

And as I always say,

enjoy.

Image-Stabilized Version of the Canon 24-70 f/2.8L Rumored to be Floating Around

    Michael Zhang Oct 29, 2012

Image Stabilized Version of the Canon 24 70 f/2.8L Rumored to be Floating Around 2470mmismockup

When Canon unveiled the followup lens to its popular Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L back in February, many photographers found it strange that the lens eschewed Image Stabilization even while two wide-angle prime lenses announced at the same time had IS. After all, a $2,300 lens that extends to 70mm on the telephoto end seems like it would benefit more from stabilization than 24mm and 28mm lenses. If youve been yearning for a Brick (as the 24-70mm used to be called) with IS, heres some good news: the lens reportedly exists, and may already be floating around in the wild for initial tests.

Kind regards.
