I can't see your image at 100%...but I'll give you my experience.  I'm not sure what brand you shoot, but I shoot Canon and I own the 24-70 f/2.8L.  That lens sucks...big time.  It's great for editorial and reportage but for creative stock, it's the pits.  I'm willing to bet that the "soft and lacking definition" is a result of the lens being soft in the corners.  Take a look at the image at 100% and look at all four corners.  Is it soft?  Is it in focus?

I have an image submitted on the microstock agencies of a wind farm.  I couldn't submit the image to the traditional agencies I work with because all four corners were soft.  I cropped it to a smaller size and submitted it to the micros (that allow for smaller image sizes) and it has done very well.

That's my experience.

what F you playing with? at F3.5 I dont see any soft corners, its not a sigma... talking about the Nikon 24-70

In my case the mid - low doing very well are:
Photodune
Isignstock
Deposit Photos
Panthermedia
Clipdealer

can you elaborate Clipdealer? are into photos or illustrations?

Two questions:

1.  Has anyone actually had sales there?  I read the "csproductions" posts, so at least one person has, but how about the rest?

2.  Am I looking at this right?  I go to the AYCS home page and sort by downloads.  There are four images that have been downloaded twice and most or all of the other "most downloaded" shots on the first page have had 1 download.

I think I'm going to need a lot more encouragement before putting my port there.

The financials sure are intriguing, though.

you wanna join?... think about other agencies..  ;D

« on: February 21, 2012, 14:58 »
In February, 2011 we didn't receive any PP earnings at all.  We were paid for January and February in March, 2011.  I hope there's no repeat of that this year!

we could place some bets  ;D

In Redeemed Credits??   ;D

ahah I bet they will be paid next month

123RF is actually doing the opposite of what you describe... they are rewarding the top sellers.   Let's not punish them now for what they MIGHT do later, when in fact they're doing what smart business says is the right thing... recognize what sells and reward those who provide it.

like iStock :D

I would love to hear a theory about IS cuts too :D (seriously love it)

I have to say I'm impressed with BigStock.  I was invited via Bridge to BigStock and in just 3 months it's jumped to #2  (SS is of course #1...I also submit to DT, FT, and blah iS...and Alamy and Getty via Flickr).  I'm encouraged with my short experience there.

how long are you in BigStock?

This is my 3rd month and I've made several hundred dollars for doing nothing.  Can't complain about that!   ;)

wow.. thats very nice :) sure your files are like hot bread!

Why didn't you mention the thumbnail issue at SS (approved images missing in ports etc.)?
They've been having a bunch of technical issues lately as well, but I guess you must have forgotten them?

its true, it happened a few times during the latest months, thats a fact

OK. So how about I put something like this:

LONDON - JULY 2007: The Houses of Parliament in Westminster is the meeting place of the British government. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in London.

LONDON, UK - FEBRUARY 21: Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament in Westminster on February 21, 2012 in London, UK. The meeting place of the British government and one of the most visited tourist attractions in London.

place the date you shoot it you can perhaps say the number of visitors per year

Thanks.

I did read what you have just posted after the first fail. Corrected it for the second time and they still said the caption was wrong ???

yep, they need a fact, a statment, something newsworthy, come up with something, like one the most visited landmark in the UK, bla bla bla, copy stuff from wiki perhaps, make it somehow newsworthy

looking at your picture, you need to talk about the pics on the wall on the left, make a cool caption you might get lucky :)

Could you hide the poll page from users with less than a certain amount of posts (say 50)?

I should clarify and say the poll input page

I can understand your reasoning behind that but I disagree. I read this forum nearly every day but, according to my stats, I only post about once every 9 days. This is my 40th post since March 1 2011 (357 days). I don't usually post unless I have something to add to the conversation - something that hasn't already been said. I'm sure there are many others like me.

yeah, i think there a lot of people like you, the majority I would say.

some not even logged in too :D

Is it worth uploading to Bigstock? I only have a few images up so far, but although they are images that sell well at Shutterstock I haven't sold anything at Bigstock yet.

its all about your time and if a few small $ are key to you or not, honestly I rather upload to them than doing jack :D

4573
Seriously, BigStock is above Depositphotos, Photodune, Veer!!??

This blows me away. Can this really be true?

I believe some old contributors like over 4 years do quite well there, at least from some reports here at MSG

email them, sure they will answer, very cool app  ;D

It does look interesting but for an 'app' it is kind of expensive although I appreciate it does have a limited market.

I don't understand how it can collect financial or sales data without passwords.

It works similarly to PicNiche. You have to install add-on to your browser and be logged in to the sites for collecting data.

exactly, its a small plugin I guess, sorry gostwyck I was kind of busy
