What still confuses me is this: if you opt out, does that mean that buyers can't use ANY TYPE of your images for sensitive use? Even if there are no faces or people at all in them? Then it could mean fewer sales than previously if the whole portfolio is opted out.
If "no faces or people at all" are in the image then how could it possibly be a 'sensitive use'? Inanimate objects or animals can't really be offended in that way (except for that bloke on SS who dresses his dog up in clothes, obviously).
I know you dont like LOL but this one is too much eheheh

What about Sirui? Seems to be a Gitzo clone. They give guarantee for 6 years to the tripod and 2 years to the heads.
Their collection seems very complete with specialties like a series that have one leg that can be disconnected to use as a monopod, or a series that can be totally flat folded ( 4 cm) and some can be very short shove in (42 cm) by using 6 segments while still being 1.69 cm high. Has someone any experience with them?
I'm using a Sirui at the moment - its well put together with 1 major flaw - the rubber on the outside of the grip becomes soft after about 12 months which makes tightening and loosening anything a pain. I've removed the rubber, but the knobs are all smooth underneath.
thanks everybody! what model are you talking about Holger?

We just spent a while cleaning up site messages to iRockStock contributors inviting them to submit to imagegate following a complaint. I would suggest a different way to market your site.
I hope you guys arent reading my site messages there, that doesnt look nice to me, not that I had some hot conversation but they should be private no?

Both sites offer both, don't they? Although iS is primarily credit sales and TS is mainly subs. That was certainly the situation a month ago.
I'm pretty sure TS is subscription only. Not as sure about iS but the ad certainly indicated they would be single image DL. Again, I'm not sure. It is a question.
TS aint only subscription, had sales for over 1$

I'm still not seeing the point of all this "evidence." Suppose the subject is guilty. Now What?
subject as contributor?

at this moment its impossible and far from accurate to compare DP with DT, FT, 123RF etc.. they can be there one day but at this point they are a "nice" small agency, actually they seem strong comparing to tons of other small agencies, I would love to see many small agencies doing whatever they are doing, so I dont see much to complain, BUT yes subs and more subs, last month had 80 sales for 30$

Wont matter when they get sold this year. What if is gets worse with the new owner.
I don't think a new owner could actually make things 'worse'. From the data I'm collecting I do believe that Istock's sales have been absolutely plummeting since the great RC debacle of Sept 2010 __ and there's no sign of that trend stopping any time soon either. The scale of the decline is absolutely staggering IMHO. Unless someone at Istock does something pretty dam* quick there won't actually be much left to buy within a couple more years.
Care to share your source or figures? I'm not calling you out, I suspect the same thing but have nothing to confirm it.
Nobody has crap to confirm crap. It is all speculation based on IS behaviors, much of the speculation of which simply infers that doom and gloom will happen. Maybe it will and maybe it won't. Keep on truckin!!
seriously, are you following this forum?? beside a few exclusives the reports are WAY down and I am talking about top contributors.. I believe you should come here more to spread your positivism or pay more attention.. havent you seen also the 15% less downloads comparing to 2010? but yes you are right, IS wont be a zero tomorrow, it would be hard to destroy a company that pays more to contributors in a year than SS since scratch (from a topic days ago, http://www.microstockgroup.com/shutterstock-com/a-little-maths/)

If you want to advocate, do it in a civil way.

Wow that is cool. I always thought that featured artists were those that never made any waves, so this surprises me. Great to see Hugo featured, his work is great.
waves? which side? lol

John really is a nice change to some of the other site owners.
if I had a sale per month I would not have said here that they were dead (had 2 for 2 years) which lead to an email from John, wasnt that nice "no longer wanna pursue business with you.."

I'm confused though. Your activity dial for DT looks like you have images uploaded and are producing sales already...?
He/she isnt exclusive on pictures I guess, should have the crown right?

"...Oh, and one more thing about iclipart, last time I checked they don't credit illustrators on the item pages.. " - I agree with it. It looks a little bit strange and i don't really understand why they are doing it. But anyway i feel temptation to try them I didn't succeed to pass istockphoto exam and became vector contributor there - so now i am looking for an alternative for it. This is the reason why i am looking at the smaller microstock agencies now. I've heard that from the low earners there are several agencies with good potential for vector artists. several of them are: www.clipartof.com - recently i contacted them, but i was informed that they don't accept new contributors anymore www.iclipart.com - very little information and responses about it, but in some posts some microstockers told about quite good earnings there www.isignstock.com - a lot of complains from contributors about very long files review time and other disadvantages but there also are many positive responses about quite good earnings there.
have been wondering about clipdealer too, many top contributors joining, might be other reason yep..

My print screen seems to big to upload and i have no idea how to make it smaller. Sorry. What do you have to do with this zip thing? I saw it but didn't do anything with it. Maybe that's the problem. If trying to get in is already this difficult I wonder what it is like once you're in...
dont remember the exact steps but after the usual register, you have the quiz, then you need to send a zip file with at least 5 pictures to get approved, after getting in you just ftp the files and submit 40 each time if you have the iptc done and less than 50 keywords, no numbers allowed too regarding model releases pictures, you need to upload first the MRs to model release folder at ftp and then the files from that mr into the previous folder, after the upload click process on author dashboard and it will assign the model releases automatically

I can't get accepted because I can't upload my initial batch. Am I the only one who gets this 'You must select your portfolio from the drop down' ?
dont remember that one, I remember doing the zip file, can you show us a printscreen?

quantity might be of secondary importance but on the other side nobody is starving with 10,000 images in portfolio. Totally false. Just look at the guy over at the SS forums who is always bragging about his 10k image portfolio, meanwhile me makes a few hundred dollars per month.
perhaps if he havent quit all other agencies.. p.s: not to mention that half of them are the same pics with ROOM FOR TEXT!

I would disagree. I've seen people with 10,000+ image portfolios and 20,000 downloads. Unless those people are living for free in their parents' house anywhere in the world they couldn't possibly be profitable.
talking about IS right? once there are no stats for SS, the lowest on IS with over 10k files has 27k downloads (5 years), actually its the only one, after its 39k the discussion of survival is interesting but quite hard to be accurate once we all live in different countries and have different spending habits
