why dont they sell only a D800 without the anti-aliasing filter? who will get the D800? dont understand really, I feel they are damaging the brand itself, two models?

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy on poll results
« on: February 05, 2012, 13:09 »
I have been looking more and more into Alamy and all top contributors, average etc seem to be uploading hard there too.. as they have a big RF collection I do believe a poll result would be quite interesting no? honestly I have the feeling that everybody is always hiding their work in Alamy..
Two things to remember:
  • Some people put only RM pics there, esp if iStock exclusives; and some have both ( so you'd need to specify whether to include or exclude RM).
On Alamy, people tend to quote the total figure of the sale, so you'd need to specify that it's the amount due to the contributor that has to be counted, to put it on a par with the other agencies.

I see, nice points, I guess it would be hard unless there are Alamy RM and RF, confusing perhaps..

Good point - this reminded me to fill in the poll, and I realized that Alamy wasn't in the list of options, even though Panther and Zoonar (that sell at somewhat higher prices) are there. BTW - I know we have talked about Zoonar in the past, it did manage some sales last month. All of $31! Better than many of the smaller sites.

I'd vote to include Alamy in the list of sites.

Steve

Hi there :) Zoonar still zero (only 2 months there) Alamy not far from that but I see something there, hope!

September 2010

But, we expect to see our total royalty payout increase by more than 30% next year, from $1.7-million per week to well over $2-million per week. Make no mistake, the total amount of money iStock contributors are making is going up.

where are you guys finding poor cs skills? I am really not understanding..

p.s: just noticed it

pictures SIZES which is quite annoying.. I wonder how medium format contributors do, for sure many 39MP will go over 30MB..

max 30MB:
- FT, SCP

max 25MB:
- CanStockPhoto, BigStock, SF, Glstock

max 20MB:
- 123RF, VEER

General Stock Discussion / Re: Moving on from IS exclusive
« on: February 04, 2012, 21:22 »
As much as I hate photos being modified for impact, I fear in your case it may be the only solution to see some results. SS is quite lenient in this area so experiment Herg, experiment!

For example (and these are quick and rough)

nice job :) think you deserve these words once Herg havent congratulate u or even a simple thanks!

i don't even want to watch the video.

who are the fools paying big bucks to learn the basics ? are they also expecting to be baby-sitted when things will go wrong ? do they really believe yuri is there to teach them how to outsell him ?

of course he is.. yuri have some in his own town that have IS portfolios, one is actually exclusive there

lets be real here.. you have 354 pictures, looking at my own portfolio which I think it is better than yours (talking about subjects) but still below average of a good portfolio, take a look at my stats, number of pictures and earnings from Mar 09 until Set 11

A whopping $.52 per download.

are you serious? I believe you havent seeing January stats here, they can pay 52 cents or whatever but its way more than IS is capable these days

I am not saying that 52 cents is good but its actually where the money is so you get it or zero from IS :D

116 is a very small number, there are almost 18 millions now, some of your files are very well done, I enjoy them but looking at my own sales, I see a bigger trend regarding isolations, people and some other particular files.. you need to shoot more "stocky subjects" where there are more sales

General Stock Discussion / Re: Moving on from IS exclusive
« on: February 04, 2012, 08:41 »
I have given up on SS and going to concentrate on my main earner which is IS (and that's still low). SS might be great for most people here but for me it has proved no returns on the time invested. I can't see it being any different from what it is now in the future. For me SS is the "Emperor's New Clothes" of microstock. With 1 or 2 sales a day of around 25 cents I can't understand how this can be sustainable.

income aint built in a day or two, not even one or two months, you need very good files and keep on working hard, uploading and trying to be better..

Dreamstime.com / Re: Is DT alive ?
« on: February 04, 2012, 08:39 »
I have had hardly any downloads with over 200 files.

200 files and wanting big sales, they need to be over the roof...

4669
Unlike you I'm not going to go nuts and upload to lots of sites. I will probably upload to DT and one or two of the others, but not FT as I see so much bad comment about the way they run their business and the way they treat their contributors that I feel it's not worth it.

if you really wanna get into the same earnings level perhaps you will need to join FT and perhaps a few more too, only SS will give you "big" buck other wont so you need to pile up..

Would be funny to see really bad photographers that think they're great.

You can already do that in the SS forums

One of them even comes here sometimes.

;D ;D ;D

he certainly aint bad but too much of a teacher sometimes

Just a quick question.  Just noticed this on the left hand side of the page "*PayPal fee exclusive."  is kind of confusing since a fee is taken out by PayPal everytime I make a sale.  Which has me confused a bit.  Any clarification would be great.

Hi Luis,

We will roll out a new, optimized payment system in the very near future, couple of weeks. It will provide solution for both payment on-demand as well as PayPal transaction fees. The concept is ready we just need to complete the coding, testing before we can safely roll it out.

Thank you,
Zsolt
