Happy?? ahh been there since 2006 as an exclusive and NOT HAPPY! New Carousel is a slap in the face. 6 dollar Getty dl's for 4k video is a kick in the pants!

The last half of this year is very slow I did have one month in the summer that was decent. I am down around 12k on the year and frustrated. If I have a good month I post that as well. I only hope things turn around. I have been exclusive in video at iStock since 2006. I know this business and you can call me out anytime! Several changes at iStock has me worried and I do not want to be in a race to the bottom. I think curated sites like Stocksy are the future for serious full-time producers. This is not a hobby or side job for me so when I have several low months in a row durning high buying season it is a concern.

I have to post my frustration here. Just about at the end of the rope here for good! I have 7,038 video files on Getty. In Oct. I sold 28 of those 28 18 were sold for 20bucks or less! I think the future is curation with higher prices coming from hard to get unique content. I am formulating Plan B.

I think the market will and is turning. Stocksy grew 600% this year and they are not bottom pricing. The smart and talented photographers are leaving cheap stock and if the company has a strong social network and good business sense it will grow. The backend to customers is very important as if you treat them right and help them they will spend the money. You can't just throw a product out and say here it is anymore. Curation is the future and it has to be smart curation. I made good money on Vetta at iStock but they have chosen the cheap route on photos. 500px is a different beast and has chosen to better route. Interesting times ahead for sure.

This is naive! Here is an exclusive file for $$$ but don't worry we know it cost to much so here are some for $ and all on the same page. No that t is not confusing it is just stupid. Please decided if you want exclusive work or not!

Money won't make you happy but pretty images will :-) In all honesty I am not sure it's all his fault at iStock. Getty likes to blame him but my guess is they tied his hands.

I doubt I stand a shot as I have so much invested in being Exclusive. My bet is like photo they are looking for very edgy and filmic looks not just stock video. I have a lot of unique clips and subjects but not a lot of filmic edgy stuff.

I can answer this as I am Exclusive to iStock/Getty in video since 2006. It depends on how you want to work, if you shoot quality stuff and enough of it then iStock/Getty I feel is good. If you just shoot random and not focused on it much then spreading out will be better for you. While I might or might not be losing money as an exclusive I do love the work flow. My income is down this year from last but I have hopes that will change in the near future.

They posted the rates and I am fine with them. I wish they would drop subs and just use these rates! Happy to see a positive move!

Help me understand this. I say we pay non-exclusive 20% so for 10 images at $40.00 they should get 80 cents per image download! Now for Exclusives it works to $9.90 per image so if we just went a flat 30% we should at minimum get $2.97 per image download. I think that is better :-)

I am not sure how he can rant on the 33% commission for artist. I have been exclusive with iStock since 2006 and I am at 35% and even less at Getty with I think 25%. Same company and they don't even give the same percentage across the board! While their prices are higher for images with the new credit packs as subscriptions it is even worse. If Adobe can sell to scale then they will have a good portion of the market. I have to agree on his search and content assessment. SS is just to picky and now their stock looks to much like plastic. I am more interested in the video side of things so will be watching Adobe with interest! Plan on staying exclusive for now and hoping for good things from the new CEO.

This is my backyard :-) shot this with my drone this morning. This is a National Forest so drones aren't banned yet. Flying as much as I can while I can. Stayed below 400ft! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ekfob4IcTUo

Now I can see it here in the USA, I am located in SC. It's so nice to be shafted, gives me a warm tingly feeling. My credit sales were actually picking up! make $7 to $8 per sale. Fingers crossed they don't sale video packs!!!!

I don't want to decide that for anyone else but for me so far it is worth it. While iStock drives me crazy at times I am glad to focus and work with just iStock and Getty. I am still earning a full-time income so am grateful for that!

If you are non-exclusive it dose not make sense to drop SS, the point is to spread out to gain the most market share and attention. Unless you make a killing at P5 I would not cut anyone off as P5 dose not cater to exclusive artist. One reason I like being exclusive is I feel that I get a good return for my work. I get the now and then low ball sales for special deals but not to often. I also prefer to focus on one agency so I have more time to shoot.

It only makes sense as an exclusive. I am exclusive so my sales are better as is my rate. Couple of points to note is I don't have to do any extra work for my clips to go to Getty. The upload system is much better and 4k is coming. 4k at non-exclusive rate is crazy!! I average $50.00 per sale so that is ok by me. I don't know how many exclusive artist are left but iStock is trying to force to go exclusive in video. Interesting times.

Near the end of the interview she mentioned nurturing the photographer so they produce their best work. It was glossed over by kelvin because she was referencing this to reaching higher. If she is allowed to follow this concept there is hope but the chairman may never let that happen. It is sad that Getty has a history of treating it's artist poorly!

I have a drone and use it all the time for stock. I stay below 400ft. don't fly over large crowds, stay away from airports and the list goes on. Dummies like this http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/04/us/us-open-tennis-drone-arrest/index.html are making a mess for those of us who use them properly. For stock if I use it with models they are aware and it is very controlled. Just please use some common sense if you have a drone. Flying over Niagara Falls was not a risk to anyone but my drone!!
