The funny thing is that we cheer BS for emailing us that they credited our accounts by X. That's great. Make sure we know how transparent they are. Yet I have never received anything from them about the claw backs they make, two of which were last week and larger than the give backs. Don't you think that these kinds of emails should swing both ways, so to speak?

Well, my $1.41 is reported under adjustments but my balance did not go up by $1.41. Same as yesterday. Good thing I haven't had any sales to report since the 11th or it would be confusing to determine if the amount has actually been credited or not. So, everyone elses balances have gone up but not mine?
Haha, right there with you Etien!
Funny. I had something like $1.65 then I go into my account and the account adjustments are -$7.80. So they jack up my acct by $1.65, then claw back $6.15 in their favor, for a net loss to me of just that: $6.15. That's 1/2 or so of a 12-PAK OF BEER.

I've gotten a few $18 single image downloads. Very nice way to fatten the daily tally!
I had five $18 sales this week, much to my surprise - very nice! It is particularly reassuring at a time when my sales on FT continue their downward spiral.
Congrats!!! And Amen to the FT comment

I have found that 75% of my sales come from P+. That's depressing.
That's confusing. I'm sure you know that.
I don't control anything other than what I put into P+. As I scroll through my daily DL's they are nearly all P+.....looking now and about 75/25. What can I say? My old dear friend once had a saying...it is what it is.

3. Use the highest shutter speed possible since you won't have f-stop control anyway. The telescope IS your lens and doesn't have aperture control.
Mantis,
Shooting the stars (nebulae, galaxies, clusters and so on) means that you are capturing just a few photons, you are working at extreme dark conditions. Your remark number 3. should say just the opposite: 'Use bulb mode for as much time as the quality of the mount permits'. This is assuming that the mount is motorized and correctly aligned to the Polar star, which I'm pretty sure will be the case. Even in that case you will need guiding hardware if you want to take exposures longer than say, a couple of minutes. That's why I recommended wide shots because they are more tolerant to guiding errors.
It depends on what you are shooting. Sun and moon require #3, deep space clearly the opposite. I should have noted that.

The biggest challenge with this kind of work is time and motion. The earth's rotation limits your time for composition. Also camera shake is amplified a bazillion times using a telescope.
1. If possible use mirror lock up (helps reduce shake). 2. Use the timer shutter release or a wireless release. 3. Use the highest shutter speed possible since you won't have f-stop control anyway. The telescope IS your lens and doesn't have aperture control.
And be sure that you (or someone) has a mount ring to match your camera with the telescope so you can attach your camera.
Hope that helps.

I haven't any sale on DT and IS also... Weird!
Me either, and SS is dead this whole week for some reason. I am 50% down SS this month, no OD's and no EL's (very unusual). It is really pathetic, but probably a cycle of the biz or search. BS never produces squat for me so I consider them like SF.

Relative to agencies, the number one rule to remember....ALWAYS
Agencies are: #1 Contributors are never #1

Umm... I too see that my Istock total jumped up a few days ago - is there a place to see the Partner Program total for the month? When I go to PP link on my Istock account it just shows me my files with total downloads (both PP and Istock).
Yes. 1. Click on your balance at the bottom to get to your stats page 2. Scroll down to your contributor stats and click the month back to April 3. Change the "daily" drop down to monthly 4. Your PP are the green bars. Place your cursor on the green bar for the month and it will tell you what the total PP is for that month (it will give you current as well while PP is still being tabulated for that month) 5. You can also click the CSV icon and download a spreadsheet of the sales. 6. PP does not give you a summary of which images provide the make-up of your sales. Hope this helps.

Are April results still pending? Mine seemed to stop at 19th.
They are usually over two weekends...you have seen only the first.

It's impressive that you're seeing good results at StockFresh. I'm not; I've made a grand total of fifty cents this month, and haven't had a payout there in almost a year. StockFresh ranks at #14 for me over the last year, behind even Crestock. I see no sign of life to justify uploading, and doubt any promoting I could do would make any difference at all.
There's an old saying, "once bitten, twice shy". While I agree with your comments, I suppose I will keep uploading there, although it ain't high on my list of upload priorities. But while I will sit back and let FTP do its work I really have very little confidence that SF will go anywhere, kinds like Mystock and Vivozoom....remember them?

MS is a moving target. Some peeps here do very well at FT, for example, and I don't do well there (anymore) . But I still do pretty good at IS and in the last six months SS. I attribute that to buyers bailing on IS and, in perhaps a lot of cases, they are going to SS. At DT something definitely changed there for the better for me, but many have felt the sting of change like I have at FT. It is interesting to see how things have changed and I believe that there will be constant change, for better or worse, and you'll be able to re-post this thread 2-3 years from now and a lot will have changed.

...stockfresh is dead in the water... Totally off-topic, but just wanted to mention, SF is showing signs of life for me. I'm up to $20 earnings so far this month. Still nothing to get excited about, but it's significantly better than where I was with them a month or two back.
Good for you. I was about to pull my port today. $3 a month ain't cutting it for me with 2500 images. I decided to let it ride solely because there is little risk, tho some.

I'm not a buyer, so it doesn't matter for me; but I was thinking more about keyword spamming messing up searches.
For me, other than the voodoo sites play with their search, keywording is the single most important function of an image sale (to be found), aside from it being just what the buyer wants. Spamming just fks it up for everyone, the buyers and the contributors. I probably spend more time than I should keywording because over the years I have realized its importance. Some are of the mind that if a site allows 50 KW then I am putting in 50. I personally only put in what I think is appropriate, somewhere between 8 and 50

We all know the problem with microstock, there's hundreds of threads about it here now. What we need is a way to be able to carry on selling a decent volume of images in 10 years time for a reasonable commission. Amen!!
