So I think the image credits (whatever they are) were priced at $34.40 and the remainder was the fee for upsizing.

Yeah well, that's probably what they'd say to us if they were pressed. I doubt any agency would give up almost 90% of the revenue. It just make no sense, seeing them making cuts etc all the time (not them particularly but agencies in general).

I am sure they will show up here to discuss this matter, 123RF has great communication :)

I think that the 50% cut applies only to the image sale and a portion of that 150 credits is paying for some third party to upsize the image. I can't imagine why anyone ever pays to have this done, but apparently if the buyer thinks they need it and can't do it themselves, there's a market for it?

a long time ago I was wondering about that too, very weird but hell why not :D

General Stock Discussion / Re: Most accurate search-engines!
« on: January 03, 2012, 12:33 »
Not much to do here in these middle days so I spent a few hours, testing lots and lots of search-engines for the new year. Its amazing really how differant they all can be, even if you search by same, lets say relevance, popularity and DLs.

In using relevance and popularity (dls)  I found the most accurate to be. SS, DT, CS, FT, and DP,  they were also good with phrases and word combinations. :)

Interesting: earlier I happened to read something that said that DP had a fantastic search engine, so I hopped over there, never even having looked at that site before, and was underwhelmed; but mostly because I checked my usual natural history subjects, and many were either incorrectly or spammily keyworded, like most other non-specialist sites.

Yes, I guess you are talking about Bob's blog post (http://blog.picniche.com/) from a few days ago, cannot find it but I remember the agencies were Depositphotos and Pixmac

Just 1 100 MB and I have only 350 files over there since June 2011. And I'm OK with that since they pay the lowest royalites in the industry, only 13,3%. I'd opt out if I could

wut? what? they pay 50%.. at least thats the deal

Not the right forum, but what is the tax status with Photo Dune.  They are Australian aren't they?  Do they withhold any kind of taxes, or are there any hoops to jump through to get paid as non-Australian?

no, have a few payouts already

My examples could apply to just about anybody who's regularly uploading images and expecting the growth curve to be consistent, which in my experience it's not.

exacty, my small numbers show that too, SS and all agencies stats below:

SS 2009 - 1106 downs and 320$ (7 months)
SS 2010 - 4989 downs and 2026$ (450% ; 633%) over 2009
SS 2011 - 9296 downs and 4790$ (186% ; 236%) over 2010

ALL 2009 - 1662 downs and 818$ (10 months)
ALL 2010 - 8184 downs and 4307$ (492% ; 527%) over 2009
ALL 2011 - 16236 downs and 9690$ (198% ; 225%) over 2010

Well, for 2012 you should focus on creating original work and be less of a copycat. I imagine there are a bunch of illustrators who are pretty peeved at you.

That seems a bit harsh to say the least. I see plenty of originality there.

+1 (I am sure blamb will show us some examples instead of just bashing around :D)

BTW, if we are already on the mailing list, do we still get entered in the drawing?

same question here :D

2011 was good for me: http://www.veoelmundo.com/reflections-2011-numbers

December ended up being a BME - almost 10% better than the previous bests on both download numbers and $$$

Hope everyone has a great start to 2012!

very cool blog post Holger! have a great 2012 :D

New Sites - General / Re: Imagegate offering stock images
« on: December 30, 2011, 17:51 »
good news for contributors, Imagegate has become a very easy submission agency, all we need to to do is upload by FTP and all other work will be made by them, looking like all small players now, looking forward to it, if you have a fast connection dont see a downside to not contribute

team told me that they are working now on terms and some other stuff

we all have different earnings/sales etc etc of course there will be always some going up and other down (could be best match, new uploads, buyers bailing, etc etc)

THE real thing is that IS had 15% less downloads comparing to 2010 which is quite significant, punishing some top 100 contributors (exc/ind) as we all read everyday on this forum)

we are talking about 3.3M downloads

my very small numbers show grow but who am I to talk about it, I am just looking at my own numbers and overall numbers at IS

2009: 48 downloads
2010: 336 downloads (1403 credits)
2011: 633 downloads (3536 credits)
