This is clearly Shutterstock's influence at work. They're trying to squeeze more earnings for their investors at the expense of hard-working contributors. By including exclusive content in this price test, they're risking devaluing Pond5 best work just to boost their bottom line. It's disappointing to see Pond5 going down this path under Shutterstock's ownership.

I'm not changing the original topic. My concern has always been about transparency regarding where Wirestock sells content, including KeyCutStock. If you're satisfied with how sales are reported under "extra channels," that's fine. However, this information is crucial for those who want to know exactly where their work is being sold.

If you're satisfied with sales in the price range of $250 going under "extra channels," but sales from 123rf at 10 cents being listed as a separate agency, then there's no need to worry. I'm not trying to change your opinion on this. However, not everyone feels the same, and my message is aimed at those who might want to know this.

For me personally, it does not matter since whatever I have left on Wirestock won't be eligible for licensing there. I just thought that whoever sends their content to Wirestock should know this. It's not mentioned anywhere on Wirestock where the "agencies" are.
"KeyCutStock could be licensing selected images through Wirestock, by choice. Extra channels make sense."
Did you see the portfolio there with 3,800,000 images and 31,000 videos? I would not call this "a selection."
The question here is transparency, or the lack of it.

I prefer Pond5 even though their prices are similar. Its not your daily earning stock. Just when it happens its quite substantial. My question is when an agency like Wirestock represents their users in a such a high price stock agency should they not know about it?

It will be really strange if it is covered under "extra channels" because as I mentioned this stock site has quite high price range for video (it was video only till couple of years back). Also KeyCutStock is one of the very few that asked for written and sent back contract on paper. Its not a penny stock agency to cover under the "extra channels".

I mean why it is not mentioned here as are the other agencies?

Just wondering if any of the Wirestock contributors are aware that their videos and images are being sold on KeyCutStock as well. I have an account with Wirestock, but I stopped uploading long ago when they changed their policy. However, they don't mention anywhere that they sell on KeyCutStock. In fact, they have a substantial portfolio there with over three million images and more than thirty thousand videos. The videos there are usually sold in the price range of $250 and up, if they sell. It so happened that I have an account there as well, which is how I found out about it. Have a look: https://www.keycutstock.com/artist/30366?type=video&page=1

Yes, it happens to me sometimes too. Usually if you include 3d in the title/description and keywords it will work. I had a case in istockphoto where they removed like more than 50 3d files instantly without saying anything and I just happened to find out that by chance a week later. I opened a ticket of course and had a lengthy conversation back and forth with them for another 2-3 weeks. They restored the files at the end. What can I say - their AI bots are not yet that good to make the difference sometimes.

If you have reported them to Envato and the portfolio is still up because Envato did nothing then maybe its better to post that on the forum there. I am sure it will get all the needed attention from the community and from Envato at the end too.

This happened to me me as well. 3d renders (submitted twice because of this) and both times were rejected as AI. I did open a ticket but from what I see here the problem might be wider.

Hey everyone, for those of you who also contribute to Envato, theres been an interesting development over there. In a long thread, a CodeCanyon artist has proposed creating a separate artist-run platform, independent of Envato. If this sounds like something youd be interested in, you can reach out to him directly through his profile. This could be a great opportunity for artists looking for more control over their work. his profile: https://codecanyon.net/user/migli?_ga=2.34370530.211304898.1714848633-176431728.1713785863

I agree that the current data doesn't explicitly signal that Shutterstock is "going bust." However, the concern isn't solely about immediate financial decline but rather about the sustainability of their growth strategy. Acquiring companies like Envato without effectively managing and integrating them can lead to long-term issues. There's a pattern where, after such acquisitions, the initial excitement and potential often don't translate into sustained growth or contributor satisfaction. Look at previous acquisitions like Bigstock Photo, and more recently, Pond5 and Gumroadthere are growing frustrations among the communities involved. This strategy might provide short-term boosts but could potentially destabilize the company if not managed with a focus on long-term value and contributor engagement. Essentially, while they're not on the brink of collapse, the foundation they're building on might not be as stable as it seems.

Shutterstock's recent acquisition of Envato, touted during their earnings call, is framed as a boost to their data licensing sector. However, this strategy raises concerns about the organic growth of their contributor base and the unique value of new content, as much of Envato's assets may overlap with Shutterstock's existing collection. Moreover, the evolving AI landscape, highlighted by the development of efficient, smaller AI models like Apple's OpenELM, challenges the notion that larger datasets are essential for effective AI training. These smaller models demonstrate competitive performance and faster speeds on less data, which might reduce the relevance of Shutterstock's strategy to accumulate vast content libraries. This shift suggests that the future of AI and data utilization may focus more on the strategic use of content rather than merely expanding content volumes, aligning with trends toward data efficiency and privacy. https://arxiv.org/abs/2404.14619?utm_campaign=The%20Batch&utm_medium=email&_hsenc=p2ANqtz--JJp8TjDm54Gh_K_ioKdJM3JIW1F_8yOEjVTgCiAqCEwNuqyyb8UgBGLRpf_elskvBvtPtsfo3MzOS3OS-cz7uaZ8iDA&_hsmi=305230150&utm_content=305228439&utm_source=hs_email

It's particularly odd that there are videos with model releases, such as the one found here: https://motionarray.com/stock-video/beach-girl-334517/. This suggests that either some content genuinely belongs to the uploader, or, more concerningly, there might be a case of falsified personal information.

Its very frustrating to see your work stollen and I think MotionArray will take care of it. They usually answer in 1-2 days. I am surprised that he/she even opened such a portfolio on MotionArray....
