Although personally I am not negatively affected, it concerns me that year after year Adobe significantly devalues video downloads in their bonus plan calculations. I know the RPD on videos has dropped massively, but it's nowhere near the bonus plan calculation of 1 video = 3 images.

I haven't had a DL on P5 for over a month. Is it just that the site is basically dead or could it be because of pricing? Most of my videos moved into the top tier price range when they started their dynamic pricing and I'm wondering if my videos (mostly 2D and 3D animation) would sit better in the lower price range. Maybe the higher prices are better suited to rare niche editorial footage?

An interview with Shutterstock's VP of content Anna Dickson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NIHXuwNXAwJust posting in case someone is willing to watch this and summarise. I currently can't muster the enthusiasm or allocate the time for it.

Thanks for the heads-up, I have shared to the iStock forum.

I've submitted a lot to iStock over the past year and have seen significant growth, putting me back to pre-2017 levels. iS/Getty has a huge number of buyers and should not be disregarded imo. My images RPD there is regularly higher than on AS, despite the iS/Getty image royalty rates being only 15%/20%.

That kind of sounds like you got bad/incorrect advice from their support person. Surely it makes no sense to transfer all your files to a new account when they could just fix their error on the tax form!

Hasn't iStock said that if you don't disambiguate the kw's they won't be translated into other languages and you could therefore be missing out on a lot of sales from non-English speaking regions.

I left my iStock portfolio to gather dust after I quit exclusivity in 2014, and after that earnings kept slowly decreasing. However I have revitalised it recently and as this year closes to an end I am happy that I have managed to take my earnings back to above 2017 levels. I also wanted to say that this is the fourth month in a row that my iS image/vector RPD has been higher than my Adobe image/vector RPD, which is actually pretty remarkable considering that the non-exclusive image royalty rate on iS is only 15% and non-exclusive vector royalty rate on iS is only 20%. As for videos, I did a major revitalisation on iS this year, replacing old hundreds of old HD renders with 4K versions, and had some initial downturns in sales as a result, but it is picking up satisfactorily. I still am dismayed though by how low iS/Getty sells our videos, so Adobe is my preferred video agency.

Could it be the case that people are overthinking this? Sure, if you resubmit the same content it would be rejected again. But if you make changes to fix issues with it then it will no longer be the same content, and you could resubmit it? The guidelines are not worded clearly.

I suppose they could be letting some AI through as an experiment because they are thinking about allowing it in future.

I think Adobe prices their EL's too generously for the buyers and they could be charging more. I sometimes get very high EL's from SS, P5 and iS/Getty, but Adobe's EL's are much lower.

Great that you managed to resolve this. I just thought I'd add anyway that if the file has been downloaded, and you have some idea of the date of the download/s you can go to your Insights tab, select that date range and export a CSV that has the original file names in it.

I can't find the terms of use anymore but I remember a period of 3 months when you were not allowed to delete a huge amount of your content. Probably they changed it in the meantime. But I personally would not face the risk, especially when you have a good selling account since It's very hard to start with a new one nowdays.
You can read your contributor agreement here: https://wwwimages2.adobe.com/content/dam/cc/en/legal/servicetou/Adobe-Stock-Contributor-Agreement-en_US-20240618.pdfIt states: "You may remove any Work from the Website at any time, provided, however, that you do not remove more than 100 items of Work or 10% of the Work, whichever is greater, in any 90-day period without 90 days' prior written notice to Adobe."

I've been gradually deleting unsold videos that I uploaded in 2018, then improving and re-rendering them, improving my colour management, updating the keyword order and resubmitting. I have been getting quite a few new sales this way on files that I think would otherwise never have sold on Adobe but had done well elsewhere. I have not noticed any negative impacts of doing this.

Didn't submit any. $8 for a video is way too undervalued.

How do I contact the support?
Here is how to do it in your browser. (There's presumably a similar method in the app). Log into ESP, click on Account Management at the top right, then click on the Contact Us tab, select the Payments category, click Next, select "My payment was MORE/LESS than expected, etc etc, just follow the online instructions and fill in all your details.

Good theory, lets all keep testing. Maybe they do fast-track trending topics.
They aren't fast-tracking seasonal content though. (For example my non-AI Christmas videos that are in the slow queue.)

It's a good theory and may well be the case, but you would need to test it with more than one image, otherwise it might just be a coincidence.

My iS image RPD is above Adobe image RPD this month, and that is frequently the case. This is despite the 15% non-exclusive rate. So I just ignore the $0.02 sales and focus on the bigger picture.
