what!!!

http://thenextweb.com/google/2012/08/09/google-wants-you-to-help-stock-its-google-drive-stock-images-library/

Go to www.thinkstock.com and search for images, or browse through them by category. Using the form below, submit the item numbers (linked underneath each image) for up to 10 images youd like to nominate for use in your documents, presentations,  spreadsheets. Well use your ideas to create and curate the next generation of our stock image library.

Does that mean they will purchase them or just ask for them

The Yuri images are at photos.com - in the partner program. Thinkstock was the place Google told people to go look when asking for suggestions for stock images
Interesting that both ThinkStock and Photos.com use the same file#s for the same image

53
I'm pretty sure other agencies are involved with Googe Drive Stock. I was able to download these high resolution files by Yuri Arcurs and I could not find them at iStockPhoto using the Google image finder tool.

Interesting, All the images have a ThinkStock image #

54
Could this spread to the other agencies as well?  :-\
I found a ShutterStock image, that was not on Getty or IS

55
Sean sure did stump them with this one

I didn't even find it - someone else gave me a hint...
Yeah, but you brought it up to the attention of other contributors and HQ, who seem to be in the dark about this at IS.

While waiting for an answer from a friend in the know to Jo's question I did a little searching and found this article from 2009

http://markstoutphotography.wordpress.com/2009/08/06/the-time-magazine-cover-photo-ripoff/

"For example, iStock worked a deal with Microsoft to license images for $20 each.  Microsoft then made those images available FREE to all who bought their software.  These images are now available to millions of people free, at the expense of the photographers who produced them.  Try buying a copy of Windows Vista and then giving copies of it away to your clients free and see what Microsoft does to you.."

« on: December 20, 2012, 13:03 »
There was/is an issue that you have to "save" your additions/corrections twice before the IS servers will accept the changes.
http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=57564&page=261

ETA: It still shows on the Dec Bug Thread

Changes to the file description do not take effect until they are saved a second time. e.g. If a contributor wishes to add a new piece of info such as a lightbox to the description area, they must first make the edit and click on save and then click on continue and then repeat the whole process again for anything to happen. 10OCT12 KJ

Uh-oh. Rebecca (for it is she) has just spoken again on her 'Communication" thread;

"Hello all, just a brief note to let you know that I am still in here, reading and listening.  You have raised a myriad of issues, both big and small, so we're trying to get our arms around how to address them.

That said, the #1 priority for today, as it has been all weekend, is Best Match, which Mary and the engineers are looking at and working on as we speak.  Please stay tuned."

Is it just me or does anyone else notice a completely different tone to her last compared to how she started the thread?

She sure got herself some 'communication' going in that thread! I'd love to be a fly on the wall when her bosses at Getty phone her whilst reading it.
You got to wonder what her minions have been telling her all along?

Or maybe the Carlyle accountants found something different then what H&F sold them. Who knows

There was a massive new ingestion of Getty Agency images over the last few days and the first page (200) of searches supposedly by Best Match are larded with those. Clearly new images and Getty transfers - or both - are currently considered "best" to the exclusion of just about anything else but a pink flame

yep over 3200 Vetta illustrations from CSA_Images in 2 days last week

I was surprised to see her post this about 45 minutes ago

Hello all.  Just a quick note to say that I'm in here, reading all of your thoughtful and thought provoking posts.

You have made one thing abundantly clear - we have to prove it.  Duly noted.

More from me when I've had time to process all of this - later today.  And I do mean today, unless I am hit by a bus.

And this is even a weekend!

I was trying to find RR's introductory post where she promised better communication. I can't find a link to it from her profile. I wondered exactly how long ago it was, then nada since the original promise. Anyone better able to find it?

Maybe this one started by KK

And now the Sr. Director of Search Strategy for Getty is posting in the best match Discussion thread  (although she's basically saying it's all working like it should) -- what is happening here?   :)

Fairy dust got into her eyes!!!  :o

Plan B is we buy it out and set things right?  :P

I was hoping to do that if I had won last weeks PowerBall lottery  ;D

Good idea ;-)

I am just wondering if this was a whole payment batch or just an individual payment.
In the case it was a batch run this will be quite an exposure to iStock......

Unfortunately, I only received one payment, but they could do this again next week and i would be very happy and would not complain any more this year. ::)

Just to clarify another point that I have been around and around with Lobo on.

According to the 2012 Payout Schedule PDF
http://www.istockphoto.com/docs/PayoutSchedule_2012.pdf

The December 10th Paypal payout request will be paid on Dec 17th, not the 21st as the calendar indicates.

This morning I have all the days filled in, you just had to give it a little time.

Don't be silly. They posted it on Facebook. Why would they post it on iStock?  ;)
http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=348957&page=1
Turns out yesterday was a Canadian holiday that they forgot to put on the payout schedule.

I looked in FB and could not find any mention of the late PayPal payment, only a link back to the IS Help thread. Not a word there from anybody at HQ even Lobo has been silent.

I'm not being a smartass.  My question is serious (to me).  I do not participate in any of the iS community activities (Forums) nor do I know any of the admins, company officers.  I have heard of RogerMexico and Lobo through this forum.  My question is:
How does/will Roger Mexico's departure affect me?
Is this a bad thing or just normal company operations ... turnover?

Thanks and please don't take this as anything other than a request for information.

Here is his job description from the Who's Who

Lots of white blank pages with the occasional 503 Error page, using Firefox 16.0.2 on Win Vista

I agree with Sue,

I posted in this IS thread about a Grease Monkey script that will show what images are sold via CC.
