General Stock Discussion / Re: ImageBrief "premium" membership
« on: August 31, 2015, 16:28 »
Has anyone ever seen their brief closed and awarded? I haven't.

I followed closed briefs (50) to which I added images, about 20% was awarded and 80% not.

I stopped uploading to DP long ago due to low sales.
Now lowering rates is not improving the situation. So I am considering dropping them.

Last time, I made a decision and upload only small resized images. Maybe I have to decrease image size again..

Please note: Starting on August 22, 2015, we decided to bring image prices to market rates and raise prices for files purchased by Pay-As-You-Go Credits. Thus, we expect to compensate authors' losses caused by reducing commission rate payments to keep the earnings of partners at the same level.

In addition, we still remain a photobank with one of the highest levels of payments to authors.

Our decision was dictated by the requirements of the market and the times, and is intended to change the profitability of the project, with the aim of giving it a new push toward future development. We are confident that our growth will continue, and with your help we will retain our leading position among other photobanks.

Our Support Team, working for you 24/7, is ready to answer all your questions. You can contact us anytime you need to.

Sincerely yours,
Elena Flanagan-Eister

Photo Critique / Re: what do you think of this photo?
« on: August 23, 2015, 13:24 »
If you use ambient light (one light source) try use a reflectors to lit shadows. There is many simple and cheap choices to use, white paper, aluminium folio and so on. Of course blacks materials are important and versatile in a lighting planning tools too, to darken shadows.

So don't waste others time and do some homework himself. Browse forums, read books and magazines, check 10 agencies best sellers, check 100 best photographers portfolios, practice with your camera- do 10000 shots and examine them. Then after two months of hard work come here and show your photos. Such is my advice.

You wasted your time, good advices ;)

« on: August 14, 2015, 05:59 »
Heard this before why would they want to do that?

because of every day joining new contributors for selling images, I think the newcomers are recently increased too much, if the oldest members continuously wins, what will win new ones? if someone win, then someone must be lose, IMO.
Sounds logical, evens incomes and all are "happy". Sometimes I think that there is some kind of day limit which is very hard to break. Perhaps it is so, after limit is filled you go down on search.

Sorry if I'm repeating mysefbut....
how do you see how many files are still remaining and actually - alive?  Please.

XXXXX = your brand name

I asked them where they have purchased EL and I got a standard answer:

"Sorry, I removed the image I found on Google.
It is removed from the site."

*, I hate those sites, they take images without any clue to pay nothing. And after that only sorry sorry!

62
Do you know this site
http://www.coque-personnalisable.com/en/

I found my images there and I assume that they must purchased EL. What do you think, SL is not a right license? They sell cellphone cases.

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy- Any success??
« on: July 28, 2015, 09:55 »
I like Alamy because the prices and sales go up every year. Of course it it not one of the best stocks, but not even last one. For me it's better than Canstock, Panthermedia, Mostphotos, Pond5, Veer, Yaymicro, Zoonar and Depositphotos. Actually I dropped out CS, PM, YM, ZO.

Well if the problems are with automatic software at SS they don't use it a BS. Images refused for noise and focus at SS accepted at BS.  last batch 90% approval at BS 50% at SS
This review issue problem is only inside the SS. In BS my last reject was in May, two images. And before that, one image in March. And since March 120 reject in SS. My approval rating is 95.3% in BS since 2012. But these days approval in SS can be anything between 0% to 100%. And for my reject and approval is totally lottery. Sometimes I try guess, "this set will approved 100%", but no, or vise versa. SS review is so unexpected these days.

65
So your claiming that:

- every natural outdoor light is a good light?
- every outdoor natural light is favorable lightning condition?
- you can't have tons of noise at ISO 50?
Of course you are right too, but please, do not go for that kindergarten line. We all know what is the point in SS reviewing. We all are professional photographers and always word in 100% review

Here is one example, 100% drop, darkest area in image ISO 50 (SS = NOISE). Only normal noise removed, no more, in Capture One.

66
Image / SS dictionary

Natural outdoor light - POOR LIGHTNING
Black and white do not clipping - POOR LIGHTING
Right lighted image - EXPOSURE ISSUES
WB (gray card used) - INCORRECT WHITE BALANCE
Natural lightning (not studio lightning) - UNFAVORABLE LIGHTNING CONDITIONS
Model's eyes are in totally sharp in focus - OUT OF FOCUS
ISO 50 - EXCESSIVE NOISE
Sharp lens camera combination - EXCESSIVE NOISE
etc..

General Stock Discussion / Re: 500px - I'm confused
« on: July 23, 2015, 16:19 »
I just load few my images there. And you are right, watermark is too nonexistent for right purpose. I hope too that you can fix it.

And yep, it's an photo community site, first take off the "I like" email notes or you can get them a lot in a short time :)

Newbie Discussion / Re: Shutterstock
« on: July 20, 2015, 05:52 »
Apart sharp images they prefer clear bright colors on Shutterstock.
That true! But anyway, many of my most selling SS images are out of the box, tinted, cross processed or narrow focus. Sometimes I think, them self even don't get the idea what is selling.

69
There should be something like that, the buyer statistics to see us:

- beginner buyer, first brief or not
- purchases, how many images buyer has purchased earlier, 1-10, 10-100, over 100
- buyer hit rate %, tells how often buyer purchase image or not
- and question for buyer (filtered by IB), all of us can see buyer's answer

The BHR (buyer hit rate) should be important together with the purchases amount. Better values, better buyer I like to shoot.

70
Three month ago I started in the IB, some images are shortlisted, but not any sells at the moment, still most of those pending. But too many is "The buyer did not select any images this time." Even when you can see, there is nice and accurate images available.. Sometimes I think.. are some briefs only fake for us..

Canva / Re: Canva
« on: July 09, 2015, 13:34 »
I have already uploaded about 1800 images, most of those looks they are in pending cut-out situation (what ever it means?). About two three weeks ago I first time checks out my online images and there was 880 and now 871 images.

At the moment I do not upload any more, I wait, what's going to happen for cut-out and online images.

72
Has anybody got any case numbers from SS recently? How long does it usually take?  I emailed them a week ago and still no reply.

It took five days week ago.
First, 80% were rejected, new submit with a case number and 7% rejected.

Sorry lads,  it was a joke.
Do you know old story, shepherd and wolf :)

74
My advice for me:

- annual cost 450$
- double that (spotty sales) 900$ (IB share 30%)
- my share 2100$ (70%)
- total annual sales 3000$

Total annual sales must be at least 3000$ before I make a premium contract! That's my advice for me. Before that all premium member marketing is something like.. "talk to the hand".
