Pond5 / I hope pond5 could improve the upload workflow.
« on: August 18, 2014, 08:51 »
I have contributing to some stock agences, AND the 123RF and shutterstock are the easiest to uplad.
So I don't upload my vectors to pond5 because of the uploading rule about vectors.
So I hope the upload-workflow could be changed.

can I submit a vector to ALAMY? IF I can, How?

As with any multi-person startup, plan the divorce before making the business plan. How are the goods and business materials to be split if the cooperative fails. Then plan how the business will operate. Planning the breakup helps define who owns the various assets, photos, furniture, office space, cameras, computers. This will lead to who contributes in what ways to make the cooperative functional. This will help protect from one partner deciding he is carrying all the load and wants to kick out a low contributing member. Decide how that should play out in advance. Then process a few batches of cheaply produced pictures and see how the team works before spending a lot of money.

I agree.  thank you

what kind of team?

just a small team we make photo.

58
I have been invited by a team which would like to start to produce image-product to sell by agences.
So I want to know to contribute to microstock such as 123rf, fotolia, ss,is and dreamstime as a good start and get a basic income ?
Or we can contribute to GI,stocksy ,corbis after a long-time-Accumulating?
(we got 0 pictrues now. and the diffrent chioce will lead to diffrent plan to make diffrent images.)

I prefer to contribute images to microstck at first step.

So do you have experience about operating a company or a team to product images?
I really needs your help.

I know a guy that he was a exclusive photographer to IS.
And because of the bad sales , he desided to drop exclusive. and He started to upload to ss. And He has regrat dropping exclusive now.

I have sold a video yesterday!
I get $16.15!

I think it depends on the sorts of video you produce - iStock is quite expensive compared to SS and Pond5 (and on Pond5 you can set your own prices), so if your output is of high production value and sells well it could be worth being Exclusive, but for run of the mill stuff (like mine) you may find you sell very little there.

Also, iStock don't accept editorial video while the others do, so you may be limiting your options unless what you do is mostly studio work.

In my (very limited) experience, Pond5 and SS do best, followed by ClipCanvas and iStock, although ClipCanvas is reported as having some payment problems and I've sold nothing for a while there.

But if you already became an Exclusive Videographer yesterday it's a bit late to be asking, isn't it?

If I find being exclusive is not a good choice in a short time , I will decisively quit the exclusive and upload my files to as more as I know.

First of all, Thanks for informations! It is very useful. the video is not my main direction. Stock is a part-time-job for me with no presure. But i have made some plan to make some video (all of them are studio work).

So.... I start to upload photo to microstock in the Feb 2014.
So.... I had no sence about "the gold time".
but I have about 900 photos and 20 vectors on 123rf, and there are only 2 or 4 sales per month.

« on: July 02, 2014, 03:39 »
Hi every one.
I have sent some vectors to Istock.
And nothing is sold the past weeks.
This is a serious blow to my self-confidence.
So,  in what place I can improve my vector?

Thanks a lot~

Illustration - General / Re: how to choice?
« on: June 04, 2014, 09:20 »
Unless you have nearly 250 dls on iS, you're not eligible to become exclusive, so why not submit to various reputable sites (however you define that) and see what works best for your portfolio? Just be aware that if you should want to become exclusive later, some of the sites can make it difficult to get your images off their 'partners'.

I know that I cannot become a exclusive contributor untill i have 250 DLs on IS.
And I know some sites make difficult to get my vectors off their partners. Therefore i have to decide to wheather i should be a exclusive contributor for IS now. Because i donnot know which sites will keep my vectors on their partners. So i dare not to upload my vector to various sites.
and if i decide to upload my vectors to sites as more as i can, i would upload them without any worried.
that's the reason of why i am puzzled.

BY THE WAY. ShadySue, you can always find the important point in my treads.
Thanks a lot.

The poll results absolutely describe the photography market. Don't make any decisions based on the poll.

You can participate in the iStock partner program without being exclusive. In fact, you have no choice but to participate in it if you're non-exclusive. Being exclusive just gives you the option to opt-out of it if you want to.

As for being exclusive, personally I don't see it working out better for anyone, but that's based on my own data. Over the last couple of years my monthly income from iStock has amounted to between 5% and 12% of my monthly totals on average. No where near enough to think I'd do any better by being exclusive. But that's just me. Some people do better. Some worse. Really no one can tell you whether it's right for you or not. It's just one of those things that only you can decide.

Thanks a lot!

Illustration - General / how to choice?
« on: June 04, 2014, 08:48 »
I have upload 3 vectors to SS, and I have applied for IS to upload vectors.
So I am so puzzled because of the following statements to pick up:

1 upload all the stock website, the more means the better income
2 upload as a exclusive contributor to IS and get money from PP and GI sales.

which is better choice now?
(which could get more money than another?)
Could the "Microstock Poll Results" describe the illustration market? or it is just for photographers?

74
maybe you should know one thing:
www.fotomore.com  this is a chinese stock, and it was from is. the price is 16500 CNY for one-year sub which allow to download 9000 pictures in all.
and it limited 750 per month.
so it is 1.8333 CNY per picture. it means 30 cent dollar per picture.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: A newbie to IS have some question~
« on: June 02, 2014, 06:54 »
Question 1
Is all vector illustration could be found in gettyimages? or only the vectors in vetta?

I have see some vector selling on gettyimages without "vetta" , so is it all vector on IS could be found on gettyimages?
