Ladies and gentlemen - we proudly present: The partner program fiasco:

Wow, it seems the only thing right now that's "sustainable" over there is the continuing development of coding errors and payment delays!

That's a tough one to answer. I think on average my IS portfolio generates around 40 cents per image per month.  Maybe more, maybe less, depending on the month.  Of course, most of that income is generated by just a handful of images.  So again, it really depends.  However, using just that number would dictate an exclusive portfolio of 750 images - but then, you won't be at the same royalty rate as me, so you'll likely need more images.  How about a 1,000 images, no maybe 1,200,...

As a contributor, I was getting very frustrated yesterday trying to get the tool that puts images into a toolbox to work more than just a few times on a single page.  Even a reload wouldn't work - had to go back and do the search again.

I can only imagine how frustrated customers must be getting.  I wonder at what point they decide the frustration is no longer worth it and move on.

I wonder how busy the inspectors are now.
52,397 in the queue just now: considerably up from the 44,XXX of a couple of weeks back.

Is there a way for a "normal" contributor to access such information, or is that only available to moderators and reviewers?

Interesting interview with Yuri Arcurs, mostly on iStock...

http://blog.johnlund.com/2011/01/yuri-arcurs-leading-microstock.html

Lots of interesting insight from someone with a lot of experience in the industry.  I wish I better understood this response
"My return per image topped at 9.1 USD in 2009, and in 2010 it topped at 7.10 USD. It is continuously falling and I expect it to top at 5.6 USD in 2011. "

I wonder if that is per month, per year, or some other time span?  Regardless, that is almost a 40% decrease in two years (projected)!!

Well, as a result of my 3 paragraph rant about a LACK OF COMMUNICATION and the resulting deletion of that and all the +1's that followed, I'm now registered here.  I hope the communication channel over here is much more open and I don't get slammed all the time! ;D

So what part of your post was rude, incoherent or baiting? Or was any of it? Was it merely critical? I ask because certain people seem to think only rude, incoherent and baiting people get banned, which is flat out not true. The people who get banned are the people that self-proclaimed "traffic cop" decides need to be punished at that particular moment in time.

That's a good question.  I wish I had kept a copy.  The point I was trying to make, in a respectful manner, was that there seems to be a complete LACK OF COMMUNICATION between IS and it's contributors/customers.  The Twitter feed mentioned that the site was almost back up - posted twelve hours earlier when the site was still down.  A pretty big hole there with no info.  I had also just figured out, by happenstance, that my payment was going to be late by stumbling on a thread in the forum (where I was posting my rant).  In my opinion, an e-mail should have gone out directly to customers.  I was certainly respectful and not rude in trying to make that point. I am firm believer that complaining doesn't help get things fixed any faster.  The point of the "hammer" was that they wanted the thread to only pertain to the specifics of the issue, which was the delay in the payment.  Apparently, my lengthy three paragraph rant was preventing folks from finding the information they wanted.  They weren't getting paid yet, so what additional information was there?  Most of the posts by the moderator were "we are almost there" or something like that- somewhat of a RANT, if you ask me.  Certainly not very much help until the issue was finally resolved.  And exactly what sort of feedback did folks need to provide that I was preventing from being visible?  Not sure?  Anyway, it doesn't matter.  IS seems to be creating enough problems of their own without me pointing it out.  Now part of the portfolio pages is not showing up and you must use a roundabout link to get to the uploads page.  If it's not one thing, it's something else - which perhaps means they don't have enough time to communicate with the little people.
