Yaymicro / Sales disappeared
« on: October 18, 2011, 14:35 »
According to my sales page yesterday I made 2 sales, however there was no amount stated for these sales and nowhere to see what images sold.

Today I checked back again only to find these 2 sales have completely disappeared  :'(

What is going on with the stats and sales  ???

I think it is supposed to read like this:

It is a new function to make the website safe to be viewed while you are logged in  ;D

I've got a discrepancy today too. Earlier one particular image was displayed on my downloads page and after just filling in the captcha again that image has disappeared. Then went to my earnings page and find the sale is reflected there. Returned back to the downloads page and refreshed it, but still that one image is not showing up. Weird.  :-\

I hate it that we have become skeptical about a good thing, but I've had so many huge credit sales today (16-20 credits each) that I wonder if the mad thief is at it again.  Usually subs equal sales and these ones are all max size.  Anyone else?

No, but I did manage to clock up a W-EL a few days ago. Hope that doesn't disappear then.  ;)

Yeah, hope this can get sorted out soon. It is a real pain in the ****  :o

I've filled in that captcha so many times the last couple of days, I now feel like putting in the box 'It's me again, don't you remember me, I am human, honestly I really am human'  ;D

It does also state something like ' you won't see this again unless you log out' - but I do see it again even when I have not logged out - so that part is not working.

« on: October 01, 2011, 10:51 »
Well I've just had my BME on 123  ;D

It is my number 3 agency now, with SS first, DT second, I don't upload to IS anymore, and I've stopped uploading to FT when they cut the commission last time around.

123rf is almost taking over DT's place for me now too - so keep up the good work, it is paying off - well at least for me.

Good to see it up in the Top Tier in the Poll Results right now.  :)

Update on my last post:

John and I worked together by me uploading tester files and him doing whatever his end and all is working fine now. Keywords with semi-colons now being accepted by the system - hooray  ;D

61
Toots- That issue has been fixed and you can upload keywords seperated by a semi colon now. Let me know if you have any problems via email. Thanks

Nope, not fixed  >:(

Just uploaded and again it stripped out the keywords. Also when submitting it did not give any pricing options like the last time I submitted.

62
That's brilliant John, thank you. Problem is I haven't any new vectors to upload yet and will be tied up on a website design job for the next few days so unable to try it out right now.

63
Thanks John, and yeah the optional idea is very good, you can see just by cthoman's posts and mine that we have different views on the subject.

It also means some of us can try it out first to see if it generates more sales without affecting our vector sales. I'm presuming we will be able to disable the feature once we have enabled it.

64
Thanks John  ;D

Just uploaded via the site uploader page and the system stripped out all the keywords but retained the title and description.

I use adobe bridge for inputting the iptc data which puts semi colons after each keyword, and it is the semi colons that your system is not accepting as I copied and pasted the keywords and when trying to submit the image your system told me I needed at least 5 keywords. I had to then change the semi colons into commas in order for the system to recognize the keywords.

Please can you get your tech guys to rectify this problem as many people use adobe bridge for their keywording tool, and it is a painstaking job to have to change all the semi colons to commas.  ::)

I get what you're saying, however with so many agencies today offering various jpg sizes of the vectors would the case not be that buyers will just go to the other agencies to buy those smaller images, rather than staying with Cutcaster who does not offer that option. I don't know, maybe I am wrong in my thinking here.

I sometimes buy images from stock sites for websites I design for clients. I am normally on a tight budget so when I buy in images I am price conscious as whatever price I pay for an image will come out of my profit, so the cheaper I can get them the better. Ok, I'm only small fry, the big advertising companies will more likely have a different view to me and will not need to be so price conscious, just interested in getting the right image for their project, so I can see this scenario working with regard to the large companies, but there must also be a number of small freelancer designers out there just like myself which Cutcaster could possibly be missing out on getting their business.

Oh, and thanks for elaborating, rather than making me wonder why you said 'nooooooo'  :)

67
Nooooooo!!!!!!! Please, no.

Why noooooooooooo??????????????

Ooops they were supposed to be question marks, not smileys haha.

68
With all the changes made recently ie new site design etc, I would still like to see raster versions of vector files for sale in the different sizes that the photographers sell their jpg's at. I just feel us vector contributors are missing out on selling the smaller sized jpg's of our images.

Not everyone wants a vector file or the largest sized raster file of a particular image. Some buyers only require smaller sizes and I feel they would not be prepared to pay the price of a vector file in order to get a small sized jpg version of it.

All other sites I contribute to offer jpg versions in the different sizes or the vector file, they have that option. Why can't Cutcaster offer this as well  ???

I'm getting $0.87 per vector subscription sale. I could swear the charts I looked at put vector sub sales at the same $0.29 as photos.

It's still not great, and no where near as good as the $1.11 premium vector sub sales I used to get. But I don't remember seeing $0.87 in the charts.

Probably from existing subscription plans purchased before the new subscriptions came into effect. Not sure if they lowered the overall percentage which would account for the sales being 0.87 instead of 1.11. Although that seems like quite a drop anyways.

Just got Fotolia's newsletter with the following quote:

This subscription, the cheapest on the market, will allow you to download images in the best definition available (1 download), vectors (now 1 download instead of previously 3) and videos in Big Web size (now 5 downloads instead of previously 10).

Yeah, and at who's expense!!!

Problem now is, are the other agencies going to compete with FT's new "lowest in the market" subscription rates by putting theirs down, and will we see our commissions being cut elsewhere because of it.  :(

71
I'd be up for joining a union, so count me in if it ever comes to fruition.

Man, this thread has taken some strange turns.

Yeah, it seems to have died now though!!!

Anybody know if you close your account with FT that they pay you out on earnings up to date, even if you haven't got to the payout level? I was just about to fire off an email to FT to close my account when I suddenly thought 'what happens to my earnings'. If they don't pay out then I will probably wait till I get to another payout before closing the account.

July was bad for me but I'm pleased to report August sales are on the up, thank goodness!!!

Don't assume that people who don't quit each and every site they are unhappy with are just sitting back and doing nothing.  I am sure quite a few of us are exploring our options and putting together exit strategies for when that last straw breaks the camel's back.

Exactly Lisa,

I wish I could give up micro, or at least some of the most revolting agencies like FL, but I live from stock alone and until I create viable alternatives I cannot give up in an heart beat any agency that displeases me, for later to be choosing whether I want a place to live, or to eat that month...

And if the worse things that happen in FL were the decreasing commissions I would be "happy". I seriously suspect much worse things occur there that we cannot see.

The only thing keeping me afloat with FT were my Premium vector sub sales which have now gone from 1.08 to 0.27 per sale. So, it is a much easier decision for me to close my account with FT as I now feel that I will not be making payouts on a regular basis with such a 'drastic cut' to my commissions.

I reckon the 'last straw' has come for me. This is the 2nd commission drop within 6 months at FT.

I've been reading several previous years threads on here about all the commission cuts that have happened over the years at FT, and I find it very disturbing. If you were employed in a company that did nothing but cut your wages year after year, and even twice in one year I think you'd be looking for a different job.

Over the years prices have increased in just about everything, from electricity, petrol (gas) clothing right down to the food you eat. How can anyone survive with pay cuts year on year. It is no different with contributors such as us. We still need to eat, clothe our kids and ourselves etc etc etc.

The way things are going with FT, we will be paying them soon to sell our images, not the other way round!!!

So on that note, I have personally had enough now, and will take my stand by closing my account.

Edit: And would you believe it, as I was typing the above a sale came in from FT hahaha
