I did a quick check on what was eligible for nomination in my portfolio and I don't understand why items that have been downloaded within the last month and have lots of downloads are eligible.

Last time around, I thought it was only things that hadn't been downloaded in a certain amount of time that were eligible.

I'm not assuming; I checked several against my recent downloads list (by hand I would add; there are no ways to see downloads by date for a given image).

Have the rules for what assets can be included changed this time?

This is still the same Jo Ann. If a file was a top seller in the past 12 months it would not be eligible for nomination. In my account, I have some files eligible with hundreds of downloads in the lifetime of the image, but only a couple in the past year. The files that are eligible for nomination were determined last week, so it's likely there will be a few odd exceptions in which an image went on a download spree the past week and is still available for nomination. Please know that in those rare cases, when the nomination process is complete and the final selections are being made, those images will not be accepted. It's not in any of our best interest to pull content from the paid collection if it is trending towards consistent sales.

If you have a file or files, Jo Ann that seem to not align with what I just wrote, please send me an email with the specific file numbers and I'll look up their sales history to check them out.

Thank you,

Mat Hayward

Hi Mat,

several of my eligable files were only uploaded this year (2022), so they werent even online for 12 months... I dont remember that being the case last year. So, did the rules (4 or less sales withing the last 12 months) change after all?

Here is my experience with them:

I only signed up in mid February and uploaded 1000 photos, all as "pro", not in the free section. Sales started pretty much immediately. For the last 2 weeks of Feb. I made $2,54, for March $15,30.

Not much, but thats more than I make with larger portfolios on Bigstock, Canstock and the like. I think its a promising start.

If you want to try it out yourself, it would be nice if you use my referral link: https://www.vecteezy.com/contributors?ref=cd615833-b630-4c15-a417-6018c266c5c3&sub_id=default

I think the new agencies are based on unlimited downloads for fees between 5-20 dollars per month...

And which agencies are you referring to?  ;)

It seems the foundation of all newly started agencies, is to amass images from contributors then sell in bulk through the top agencies.

Which new agencies are you referring to?

DepositPhotos / Re: Revenue Share Special Program
« on: July 21, 2021, 05:36 »
So now everybody seems to get invited (me too). And there seems to be no lightbox anymore. I am assuming the whole portfolo goes into the program?

Can anybody who opted in earlier please share their income from the revenue share program?

I don't see any banner or way to nominate files on my dashboard. Am I missing something? Can anyone screencap what it looks like?

See this snippet from my Dashboard - if you don't have any photos, perhaps that's why you don't see this?

No I don't have photos, I thought it would also count for vectors/illustrations. Makes sense now, thanks!

Adobe has recently added a lot of new images to the free collection, including illustrations and vectors, so I'm not sure why they aren't allowing "regular" contributors to add content other than photos.

I've been tracking the size of the free collection and since June 1, 2021, it has grown by 46,421 (to 113,884) after staying pretty static around 77k to 78k since last October.

Illustrations had been stuck at 17 since the beginning, but it's now at 2,847, and vectors have grown by about 7k since June 1 (again having been largely unchanged since October). Videos have grown by 4k as well.

I can't find anything now, but I thought I remembered someone saying that the free section would be capped at 100,000 images. Clearly that's not the case, but if anyone has a link to something saying that, please share.

Perhaps Mat can give updated information on how big the Free section will get after June 23rd? And I assume there won't be any "old" free content dropping out - at the one year expiry - until October 2021, so this isn't about replacing the current collection as it is expiring.

I am only shown 73.636 free photos (from Germany)

57
Hi Mat,
will a regular customer see free content intermixed with the "standard" content within the search results?

58
As you know Adobe changed its market policy recently and preferred to present only best sellers' works to costumers from these countries while blocking all others.

No, I dont know. Was there any official announcement? When did the change take place?

(I did not notice any change in earnings.)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Selling Book Covers Blog Post
« on: November 01, 2020, 04:36 »
I have been following Alexs helpful posts about book covers with interest, thank you.

When you applied to archangel did you create a separate website for your portfolio or direct them to one of you micro portfolio like Alamy or adobe? Just for the application process.

How many images did you use?

Was a long time ago but from what I remember, I sent them a link to my Photoshelter website where I had/still have a lightbox of fine artsy type shots. Otherwise, Instagram could be a good option if you don't have your own website.

Highly recommend not to include any links to your port at microstock sites. Alamy stuff shouldn't be relevant for book cover market.

Good luck!

Hi Alex,

I was thinking the same thing, if it is wise to list your microstock portfolios... but in their application form they explicitly ask if you are with other agencies (and which). Did you use the application form or did you just send them an email?

Be sure to check their licenses, the basic one practically offers unlimited use. Otherwise they are developing well.

Thanks! Do you have experiences with them? Is the promised RPI real?

https://designbundles.net/store-register?sref=NQFdTb (referral link) is offering 20 Cent upload bonus per item in October, also for photos!

It seems to be similar to Creative Market. I just have signed up myself, so have no experience. But according to their welcome email:
"on average each product uploaded to our marketplace was worth $16.46 in yearly revenue in 2019."

Might be worth a try?

Hi Danny,

why have you stopped displaying the number of subscription downloads? That makes it very intransparent and is probably the reason why contributors are sceptical.

64
Sales have slow down considerably. I suppose rising number of contributors equals smaller slice of the cake for the individual...

Last sale was March 31st.

« on: January 11, 2020, 05:34 »
I am always amazed how little some people know about the agencies they submit to...

500px does NOT have their own market anymore! They ONLY sell via VCG (in China) and Getty (outside China).

« on: January 08, 2020, 03:59 »
Using stocksubmitter:
URL: ftp.canva.com

use ftp login ie username
use ftp password

ftp Directory:  username/brandname
port 22

max threads 2

Underneath check sftp mode AND ftp over ssh mode

Sorry, I do not use Filezilla but maybe this can still shed some light.

Thanks a lot!

What email?

Crushpixel (46 sales with 2000 images since they opened in Feb 2019)
https://www.crushpixel.com/?ref=4249

So, roughly 2 per month for 2,000 images... Doesn't seem like it would be worth the wear and tear on my keyboard to open a new tab for the site.

But it fits Deyan's "requirement". And its a promising start for such a new agency. Lets see how it develops.

Just had a look. Seems they want exclusive clips. :-\

Yes, but they are not looking for "normal" stock footage. Vertical mobile footage is okay. And Im happy to give them some "cat content" exclusively.  ;)
