On average I need more than one click per image to get my images pending.  I still have a couple of thousands images to upload and I don't think that I want to click them all.....

The submit all button is on the way, but as long as you have a title, description, and keywords and you click the save and submit button on the bottom, all images will move to pending.

I will check on the price questions.

Overall Cora, it looks good.  But, I still have concerns about the lack of statistical analysis tools and the confusing/laborious pricing procedures.

Regarding Legos or any other images, every stock site reserves the right to accept or reject anything they wish.  There are some sites that, for instance, will not take an image of an interior if there is art on the wall, but some will.  In the end, the industry standard isn't really an industry standard.  It's the site's policy, and guidelines based on copyright knowledge, quality issues, etc.

As far as the Pound Note goes, it is specifically the image of the queen that is in question.

It depends entirely on the company.  You, the stock company, and the user of the image could all be liable.  Lately, some companies have issued guarantees on their images to assure buyers that the use is legal, and will put up money for legal fees.  Disney, McDonalds, and the Bank of England for instance, have plenty of money to spread the law suits around.  That said, most companies will simply issue a very scary cease and desist letter before actively perusing you.

I always suggest steering away from iconic images or re-branding to a more generic title:  Post It Notes (tm) become sticky notes, Legos (tm) become building blocks, etc.

US copyright law is extremely complex.  Shoot (or make) what you love.  Avoid saturated themes like street signs, for instance.  Be fresh with your approach, not derivative and you will benefit from your labors.

With copyright, when in doubt, check the "Legal" link at a company's web site.

Many companies register the shape of their intellectual property.

Car shapes and logos are almost always copyright or trademark protected.  It is up to the individual stock company to decide if they want to take the risk of including a specific car name, logo, or shape. 

This list http://www.pacaoffice.org/resources/specialReleases.html is a helpful guide of what to stay very far away from.  Some sites have extended lists of copyright rules that you can search through. 

In the very litigious United States, most companies just won't risk it.  In some cases, cease and desist letters force a company to make sure those images containing a shape, logo, or even public art or item, like the The Flat Iron building in NYC or British Pound Note, are not sold for profit.

I have had 2 sales there on about 200 images on line.  Each was 5 Euro.

I recently made all my stock images on Flickr friends only.  I was spending too much time chasing down people who "borrowed" or stole my images.  I did get a few purchases through flickr, but nothing significant.  I use it for storage, and for when I am traveling and want to dump my mem. card mostly now.  And for things to "arty" to sell on stock sites.

 The real problem with swine flu or any pandemic is not the loss of life, as with the flu of 1918, but the loss of productivity and services.

For instance, let's say 40-60% of the work force goes out with a flu that lasts 4-6 weeks. Just for giggles, let's say .20% die. For those 4-6 weeks (rolling) there are 40-60% less bus drivers, food service workers, trash collectors, public health workers, to do the services that you take for granted.

Ponder for a moment. There are, for instance, only 40% of the workers available to service your power outage.

Most of them will be back, when they are well. So, another for instance, your isp will get to your problem in a week or two.

We saw this in a small way in Denver during the blizzards a few years ago. There was very limited supply of produce, etc. because the drivers simply could not get through to deliver.

One snow season in Denver, they could not get ambulances through and had to use plows for er care.  What if 1/4th of those care givers were out sick?

I have a feeling their review process is based on histogram, but that is just an outside guess.

I have been using it for a couple weeks now to populate some of my older channels with older images.  Basically, I was only uploading to Shutterstock for a long time, and wanted to even out my portfolio on other channels and add yaymicro and cutcaster.

The simplicity of use, ability to embed keywords (where I had forgotten to on old images), and the stats reporting have been very good.  In all an invaluable time saver for me. 

And my stats have proved out with a 20% increase in sales so far this month.  I got the basic plan, which has more than paid for itself, though when my credits are spent, I will just hold off uploading for next month.  Not enough credits in the basic for someone with a large portfolio.

It's a fantastic service for people who have to pay for bandwidth usage, like some I know in South Africa.  One upload makes sense.

It's a bummer that SS and IS stats don't show, but now I am only checking in on a couple stats pages a day instead of the OCD of checking all of them.

Excellent service, IMHO.

http://www.nowpublic.com/ seems to be gaining ground, but is not paying in general I think.
