General Stock Discussion / Re: I doubt paypal now

It isn't reflecting changes in currency exchange rates is it? Perhaps showing you what different balances are currently worth in your chosen currency?

Come on, we are missing the most important factor of all - the day that Al Gore invented the Internet, it all started to go wrong...

In fact, when I started the application just now, a new file was installed and 123RF is working fine

I noticed that 123RF didn't accept my authentication this morning - that happens when they change something on their site, but the developer is very quick at fixing those sort of issues. Normally, the next time you start the application it will download one or more updated files and things are fixed.

With iStock, are you logged in with the new ESP user ID? The new vocabulary comes from there.

Newbie Discussion / Re: What is your workflow
« on: March 05, 2017, 10:53 »
As I mentioned in a previous post, I've become a big proponent of microstock submitter in the past couple of months and reviewed how I use it on my blog:
http://www.backyardsilver.com/2017/02/stock-submitter-istock-esp-new-alamy-supertags/

But to answer your question - I keyword in lightroom so the keywords and descriptions are written in the jpeg itself. I then go to Microstock submitter and use the advanced editor to change the order of the main keywords to put them at the front of the list. When you save at this point, those keywords are written into the file again, overwriting the other alphabetic ones. With iStock you then match the keywords to the controlled vocabulary (the program remembers your choices so each file gets easier) but I think this list is just stored in the application. When it logs onto iStock to submit, it will presumably delete the original keywords and send the controlled vocabulary in its place. Not entirely sure how that is done - perhaps in some unused part of the jpeg metadata structure? With Alamy, it takes the early keywords to make them supertags.

Hope that helps

Thanks very much! When I look at the other statement type - monthly - I only see the January results. Is it correct to say that you can export and look at all the sales that went into that total, but you can't see anything about February earnings until the 20th March?

Meanwhile, if you download the .txt file from the "Export" section,

Do you mean the Connect Summary text file? When I try that just now I get an "Unexpected Error..."

123RF / Re: is 123RF Tax Report 1099 ready? I don't see it...

In the US, they are only obligated to send you a 1099 if you earn more than $600 (at least I think so!)

General - Stock Video / Re: Photoshop - Video Keywords

How do the keywords get incorporated into a video file format like .mov?

General - Stock Video / Re: Photoshop - Video Keywords

Some people put the keywords in a separate csv file that they upload and the agency matches the keywords in this text file with the video, and others add the description and keywords directly on the site. There is no way, as far as I know, to get them into the video file itself, although I suspect (haven't tried it yet) that Stock Submitter allows you to do that.

I reviewed my latest experiences with this great application on my blog earlier in the week. http://www.backyardsilver.com/2017/02/stock-submitter-istock-esp-new-alamy-supertags/

Software / Re: about software microstockr
« on: February 25, 2017, 18:41 »
The desktop is currently free, but the author plans to charge a monthly fee once the various bugs have been worked out. So the intent is to get people used to the service and liking it, and then introduce a, hopefully, small charge. It is not an unusual business model.

I did a review of it back in November. I think it is safe and the passwords are only held on your computer. Here is the review:

« on: February 24, 2017, 08:46 »
Yes, that was the email address I used. Takes a couple of days for a response at first and that was a standard email, but once you get talking to a real person it is a bit quicker.  Good luck!

My direct email to them worked. I got the stock email about resetting my password, but when I replied to that saying that I hadn't had an invite, it appears my account was reset in the background and it all works now.

That's great! I still haven't had one reply to my filling in the error reporting form on the ESP website. Did you email their support team directly? Would you mind sharing that email?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Tax season 2017

It was discussed more fully here: http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/us-tax-form-1099-misc-which-agencies-have-issued/

But when did you get the Adobe one - was that in the mail or online somewhere? I'm waiting on that. I'm not sure I got a 1099 from 123RF in either 2014 or 2015.

Did this get solved for anyone on this thread. Nothing at all for me - I still get the error message that ESP is not set up when I try to log on, still no email with my unique link, still no contact from Getty/iStock

Steve, did you tried to go on the https://esp.gettyimages.com/sign-in page?
You will be asked for your username (it must be the email address you use for iStock, not your user name) and the password.
Probably the password will not work.

Yes, I do this and then get to that error page

I think I am in the same position - no sign of any sign-up email even though I have checked all possible folders including Spam. I did manage to get at user name by saying that I had forgotten it, but all I get from ESP is:

We're sorry.

Your account is not currently set up for ESP access.

I've tried the "contact us if you think this is an error" link but nothing from them so far.

If the home page would remember that you had changed that to current month it would actually be OK, but it always returns to total earnings which is a useless bit of information in my mind.

I also could get used to the images sold that day if they were sorted to show the most recently uploaded images first. I don't tend to care much about whether a 5 year old image has sold and the current order is either random or the order they were sold that day, which is equally useless information.

123RF / Re: 1099 - Federal ID #
« on: February 09, 2017, 11:07 »
For some reason I got a 1042-S from them last year but the EIN of 123RF LLC was 99-0375104

It might help us all to keep a record of which agencies have issued US tax form 1099-Misc

Here is my record to date:
Creative Market - Yes, but note that they report gross income not net. You can get a statement on the site of their fees
Shutterstock - Yes
Getty Images - Yes
Envato - Yes, but note that they report gross income not net. You can get a statement on the site of their fees
Deposit Photos - Yes
Dreamstime - Yes
BigStock - Yes, but it is actually from Shutterstock this year

I can't find anything so far from Adobe/Fotolia
