Drones are like video cameras, they are everywhere but with the footage you shoot it is not everywhere! I am slowly including models with my drone, planning everything ahead of time and doing the prep work. I get up at 5am to shoot and stay late in the evening to get what I want. I pay people and pick locations. 99% of stock shooters don't do this with a camera or a drone. If you keep on your path with footage like this you will rise quickly! Getty has been good for this stuff for me so far! The rewards come to those who take the time and risk to get shots others don't. Thanks for the kind words on my clips, I could learn a lot from you!

Great footage and thanks for sharing! Maybe we need to chat, I have already made hundreds of dollars with my drone in 4 months! Your footage is very high quality!

Yes but not much. I bought a toy quad off amazon to practice with. It did help me more then I realized. I can fly without GPS lock and you need to be able to do this. But in all honesty it is very easy to fly. Pick straight lines and fly them until you get comfortable. I use mine and love it. I will post this here in case you missed it so you can see the image quality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hei1XfMVSls

Yes, just shoot at sunrise and sunset for best results. One word of advice aside from all the flying laws is to shoot at sunrise, less people out and safer for you and the drone. I have not be questioned or bothered once in 4 months I have owned it. I stay out of people's way!

With credits it is smoke and mirrors buyers wise up really quick on that and when you could get an image for a couple of bucks with out having to have a subscription buyers bought as needed. Now subs replaced that but iStock was already late to that market. Yes subs is a good deal on istock but they left their edge when they just went for that market. I made more with old credit pricing and % then I do with subs! Next they dropped Vetta, instead of making it a better value they just dropped it which was a mistake! For video it is a whole mess for non-exclusive's, I am happy with the pricing as an exclusive but it is obvious that buyers have left in large numbers for video! I have been with iStock since 2006 and have around 8,000 video clips in my gallery. I have uploaded better and more content then last year but am earning a lot less this year! I just want to scream when admin says you don't know the market, well obviously you don't either! Now lets talk about the new search and ADP it is slow and buggy we have been in a testing phase for months and it is obvious! buyers don't know what they will find from one day to the next! that sure breeds a lot of confidence! Now people say if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. First stop testing everything and don't roll out more changes until you have settled on a design. I don't care if I like it or not at this point I just want something that works! Getty has a fine design on their search page so just copy that if you are confused. I did not see Getty go through all this testing. Next make a way for buyers to purchase images like that use too for a couple of bucks for a small image, bloggers don't need 21meg. images! and many business don't either! Now pay non-exclusives 25% and Exclusives 35% to 45% and drop RC's!! If exclusives are favored right in search then we won't mind non-exclusives earning more! Now you can reduce the gap between the two at 2 to 1 which makes more sense. Next be sure to include descriptions when searching for images, why not give the buyer more info on purchasing? For video do the same percentage and artist will return. Be more picky if needed buy don't drive artist away! I love iStock and I love what I do! Let's fix this now!

I am an American citizen. Just FYI when I came over the boarder our vehicle was searched because of the drone case, I told them what it was and why I brought it, they did not even open the case. Just be aware if you have it in your car the x-ray will see it and you will be searched.

No laws yet for drone this small but still a risk. Thanks for the kind words! I just had a little luck. Drone was completely dry at landing, I stayed out of the mist as much as possible

Thanks! Could not find where I needed one, I stayed below 400ft and kept the drone in sight. Took the risk for the reward :-) My done is small and considered a hobby size

You can spank me for the shameless pimping but if you have never seen the falls from this angle it is fun. Hope you enjoy. PS. No purchase necessary! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hei1XfMVSls

It is true but I don't think buyers will be put off from Getty, that is the wild card here for earnings for me.

This is a pure power play at the expense of the video artist! There is no reason they can not offer 4k at $199.00 for exclusive and non-exclusive! I just started with the ability to do 4k with my drone. Now the other side is Getty, will this make up the lost income from iStock? Because I do this to eat I have to proceed with caution it may work for them it may not. I hate all of this, why can't companies just do the right thing for all involved! It's not that hard!!!

Just got word on the forum that 4k is not at a different price point then HD! It is the same as now. They said they would not get into a price war but they just did for video! They are undercutting SS and most other places now!

http://www.claimsjournal.com/news/national/2015/06/19/264038.htmThe FAA is not pursuing anyone at this time as in a year it will be legal and you will need a license anyway. I just got a drone and I say fly smart. I steer clear of crowds and film in town at sunrise where traffic is the lowest. I use it with planned shoots for another angle and stay smart. I plan on getting my license and then head into the commercial and real-estate markets in my area. Getting my skill and practice in now. You will also need insurance which is wise anyways!

It's a lot of work to sell on your own! The only way I see it working is to have 5 of the top producers band together to sell their work, but then someone has to be in charge and the like. I am doing ok as an exclusive on iStock June and July are always slow for me but I keep plowing on with producing and doing side jobs. Love what I do so the money will come.

The bar is higher now, if you are a good producer then the sky is the limit.

Been full-time stock video producer for over 5 years now. Love my job and have to work harder and harder to keep up but I don't mind. Still the best job in the world to me. If I was just starting out today it would be a lot harder!

I am exclusive with iStock. My biggest gripe is that I wish they pushed video advertising more! Video still seems like a step child and I want more dollars to go to advertising it!
