all you lot who are still uploading and having images on this site are doing a disservice to the rest of us by keeping recompemse for OUR CREATIVE WORK DOWN.
So you'd rather people instead of earning a few hundred or thousands of dollars a month just settled for a guaranteed $0 on principle? Its really hard to buy food on "principles". Work also doesn't sell itself if its not available to be sold anywhere that buyers frequent.

check out the sizes of this photos, he has the largest resolution for most photos in any search, tree 7157 4774px, beach 6000x4000px but the rest is smaller. i believe shutterstock favours bigger larger resolution. i think one of their blogs says to submit the largest resolution possible. not sure if thats why, but could be one of the reasons.
Im not convinced the algorithm favours larget images - a lot of my cropped or low res sell more than high res (although even getting a high res accepted with the focus AI is hard...). I suspect a lot of these guys images are small because they're stolen off flickr and free wallpaper sites. Having said that, with GigaPixel or Adobe Super Resolution, upscaling is easy and pretty good most of the time now.

SS aren't likely to care about this much.
For them, a sale is a sale. Who they pay the tiny commission too doesn't matter.
I suspect they care very little about any potential algorithm abuse as long as its not affecting sales.

No email about that. Last one i received was payment on 23/3.
Guess i'll have to do the support minefield then.
Edit:- Simple password reset worked. No idea why suddenly after about 3 years of using it the problem happened now.

Anyone else having login issues on ESP or DeepMeta?
On DM it seems to take an eternity then going to "Login Failed" and ESP website giving "Those details don't match our records. Double-check and try again." instantly.
Yes the details are correct - ive been having this issue for 48hrs now.

Logged in as a buyer now, i just visited as a guest.
Its not on all (most?) photos yet but is starting to appear on more and more both on my personal profile and random searches of others.
Its displayed to buyers so they do see it. Ultimately whether its the intent or not, they're now seeing a "how good is this image" rating which may well affect if they buy it or not.
At the moment i'm seeing them in MS Edge browser but the same image in Chrome (odd as they're both now Chromium based) and Firefox it doesn't show at all.
In Chrome and Firefox, viewing the source shows "\"predicted-quality-filter-image-srp\",\"exp-500-undiscovered-search-filter\"" so its there, just not rendering on those browsers. It doesn't show in IE.
Wondering if this is some sort of ranking system that's been in use a while and is only now displaying due to an accidental code change.

You do realise that the lowered rates did not start until January 1st don't you? So the results of that won't be reported until the end of Q1 in 2021 - so all of the increased profits, etc are the results of actions taken other than cutting commission rates.
Not really true. The levels came in June 1st. Things like sub cuts from 0.38 to 0.10 happened then. Jan will give a bigger increase yes but the start of the reduction was June 2020.

SS appear to have a new undocumented customer feature. In addition to "Authentic" we now have "AI Predicted Quality".
Seems to be rolling it to images this weekend.
Nothing from contributor support about it, its not showing on all images yet.
I looked at a few of mine and my best sellers are often on 6 or 7 out of 10 whereas others that are out of focus or badly exposed are getting 9s. Images that sell a lot aren't always high and images that have never sold sometimes are. On my stuff at least it appears totally random.
So, is the same famous SS AI that thinks trees are image noise and clouds need model releases now deciding how good an image is?
...wonder how long before they offer a "Filter quality lower than X" or "Less money for quality lower than X" appears.

Oringer's Twitter comments last June when the new paycut was announced was entirely supportive of the move. He said so multiple times. At one point he had a pretty good rant against the contributors complaining.

I really cant see the point of this. Using example figures,
If i make $300 a month from AS and $150 a month from P5 but also $600 a month from SS, if i stop submitting to SS on "principle" i'll still be making $300 from AS, $150 from P5 but $0 from SS.
So im $600 down with no tangible benefit at all.
I've seen nothing to suggest stopping SS boosts sales elsewhere.

And me as well but it doesn't seem to change the revenue coming in. Still giving peanuts for clips and nowhere near what it once was! Blessing us with a level increase does not motivate me to start contributing again.
Im sure the $0.34 clip i just solve at level 3 will make a massive difference.

Ignore this nonsense. Just some cancel-culture keyboard warrior.
I know quite a few people with afro-hair. They all refer to their hair as "my 'fro" or "my afro".
Its descriptive. There's a trend these days to ban accurate, descriptive words. Don't fall for it.

You're deluded if "not being on SS" suddenly makes other media say 5x better. Simply isn't the case for anyone at all.
AS pulls in huge amounts more for the same video for me in terms of revenue than P5. You think if i pull the stuff off AS P5s little sales will rocket?!
P5 "exclusive" gives you a bigger slicer of the cake. It doesn't change search rankings or number of sales.

And most of us know that randomly turning town a large chunk of money per month for no tangible gain at all helps nobody. You keep harping on about P5 - great. Most of us use them. But the fact is they pay more but for most people sell a lot less. Suddenly stopping SS isnt going to make P5 sell 5x as many clips a month which is what would be needed.

I can't pay the rent with pennies.
You do realise its possible to earn more than pennies? Or lots of pennies? Even with SS (up to now at least). Struggling to see why i should deliberately make myself hundreds or thousands of dollars a month worse off, in the middle of a pandemic with no day-job work just on "principle". How is that in any way sensible?

This combined with the huge number of large value amendments people are reporting looks either like large scale fraud they're still trying to fix or the level reset utterly screwing up their systems.
Either is shameful. Delaying payment due to their mistakes.

I cant pay the rent with "principles". Im not going to deliberately make myself significantly poorer when my actions will have absolutely no effect on the other party at all.

Meanwhile for many of us, P5 although it pays a lot more sells far fewer videos than AS or SS.
Looking at last year, SS video made me roughly 5x what P5 did for the same video clips. Every single month P5 yields many hundreds of dollars less income than the same content did on SS due to the bigger volume.
This year so far SS is a little below P5 but AS is 3x that.
Im not going to stop uploading to SS and lost potentially 5x the money that P5 brings in for the same thing.
If that equation changes (and last month hinted it might) then i'll reconsider but it seems somewhat stupid to give up a large chunk of income, based entirely on principle with no means of recouping it elsewhere.

I've stopped uploading new fresh footage to SS, and I upload only on Pond5 Exclusive, so last three months Pond5 is my TOP earner, 2-3 times more than SS. Colleagues, think who you feed, look in long time perspective, what is the future... Don't feed the monster. Have business only with companies, who treat you fair and be happy
I can't stop uploading to SS but I upload to AS first then wait for a month before uploading that content to SS and iS.
I generally give AS/Alamy/P5 my stuff first and if nothing much happens on those i'll upload to SS a few months later. What i am looking carefully at on SS is if my top selling clips start selling for a few dollars or cents as opposed to full price consistently then im deleting them as (i) they're worth more than that and (ii) i dont want it cannibalising from elsewhere. Ive had a few clips that have made a few thousand dollars each that started selling endlessly for $<5 instead of the usual amounts. Ive deleted those off SS. Its small numbers *so far* but i'm not against pulling the entire port if/when that happens to more of them. Ultimately the policy is forcing me to be selective - SS is getting the rejects from elsewhere and high performing clips get pulled.

This might go some way to explaining videos. SS are really really trying to force people onto subscriptions. You add a clip to a basket, it pops up a box saying "Why not subscribe" with the link to refuse in tiny writing below. Clicking that you get another huge screen advertising subscriptions or below that packs. The link to just buy an image isnt a link at all - you can only do that by clicking on checkout.
They really do seem to want to get everyone possible onto subscriptions. And on those, the most we can expect to get for a clip is $10 on the most expensive package. The others will be below that.
The way the pricing is, its better for a person to get a one off monthly subscription then cancel than to buy a clip pack or single image.

Numbers are numbers.
For myself and others, until last month SS simply sold more video than elsewhere. It paid less but sold a lot more. Last month for the first time in 11-12 years that stopped and the reduction was instant, massive and it shot down the league table.
