You need to know the royalty rate of the contributor as Liz pointed out, but also illustrator/photographer/videographer, or rough proportions of those media - pricing is very different, and what percentage of agency/Vetta the contributor has. Unlike E+ Agency/Vetta isn't the contributor's choice and can massively impact RPD.
I don't think you can get a poll for that complex a set of information with what the forum offers. Perhaps it'd be easier if you provided information about your portfolio so you could find an exclusive with a similar one - who cares what Sean's RPD is as you probably won't get that anyway?

...How does/will Roger Mexico's departure affect me? Is this a bad thing or just normal company operations ... turnover? I don't think it will make any difference day to day. For recovering exclusives like me, or others who've been around IS a while, it's sad to see good people go. And whoever's replacing them is not publicly visible, so we typically have no idea who does what any more as they don't speak to peons (in the case of KKT, that's a blessing, but as they say, it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good )

Andrew's a lovely man. No idea what the circumstances of his departure were, but I wish him the very best for whatever's next for him. And I'd have to imagine he'd rather not have to put his wordsmithing talents to work trying to make palatable what iStock's been up to lately Did the post in the forum we can't see have anything to say about what he was going to be doing?

The overall space is largely filled with not very attractive foliage. It's too dark to be usable as copy space. The bud as the subject should occupy more of the frame as it's the only thing of interest. Get in tighter on the bud, or find a group of buds instead of just one. As far as the focus, for the shot to be usable for a designer, you probably need to have something pretty be in really sharp focus and the remainder be a lovely blur for copy space. Given the angle at which you shot the bud, there really isn't enough of anything in focus. On the lighting, the background is underexposed and an unattractive bluish color. A reflector (or flash) would have helped a lot. Take a look at this (click to see a larger version) showing how the colors change if you reflect light back into the shadows of a scene:

people is shortened to peeps - my people -> my peeps. There's a type of supposedly edible Easter candy called Peeps, and I think little chicks are supposed to say "peep"

I saw that too, starting about 15 minutes ago. Things have been moving quite nicely there for me - until today was "subs day" in my rotation which cut the $$ considerably.

I don't think this will get accepted anywhere. The composition is the big barrier - way too much leaf and not enough of the subject - but also lighting and the choice of subject. A flower shot has to be more than OK to be accepted as it's such an oversupplied subject. Take a look at what's on the sites already to see what you're competing with.

So it reappeared after the last outage, but this evening, I first get "Not found (error to origin)" and after trying again I am able to get to the stats.
There have been a couple of sales, so the customer facing part of the site is working. The last set of fixes haven't addressed this problem - what is the plan now?

I don't, but you probably want to say if you're in the US and which state, or which country if not the US, as the laws on this vary by place

PP must include more than just TS.
There's Photos.com; but people tend only to mention TS for whatever reason.
I think most of the sales are coming from ThinkStock - I don't check the details across the board, but whenever I've looked at an image's PP sales, TS outnumbers Photos.com by a factor of 10. ** Edited to add that I checked one of the early files to make it over to the PP a year ago. It's had 107 PP sales since then, 10 of which were Photos.com. ** The Image Packs - which are credit bundles or similar to SS on demand - bring higher royalties than 28 cents per. For September 2012 (the last month I have PP numbers for) my RPD from all the IS properties is 83 cents, but from IS "proper" it's $2.04. SS was 86 cents, so roughly comparable.

BS sinks, every day more and more. Not only regarding review times... We all know why.
Reviews are slow, but I don't see sales declining at all - growing quite well for me. So I don't have a clue what you think we "all" know - care to share?

...I think the key thing to remember is the totally different search results different people are getting.
Understood. I am seeing a change from last week though, so I think something has shifted. Also, I tried the searches not logged in on a browser I don't use (and from which I cleaned cookies and cache) and saw essentially the same results: Lots of agency and exclusive files up front and my file that had been in the top 20 somewhere in the 400s. It sold this morning though, so it's getting found somehow It's not worth me spending much time on as I can't change any of it, but it does make me wonder what on earth they're thinking as they keep upending search results - and what buyers think who come back on a regular basis.

I'm a bit puzzled that the latest best match shifts have just about buried indie files (in the searches I check on) compared to a couple of days ago - but Monday I had an excellent day anyway. Possibly the best match results aren't useful so buyers are trying other searches? Or perhaps it's just sales from lightboxes made up days/weeks ago and things will plummet in a few days...

Not yet. They are very prompt (typically earlier by a lot than their deadline of "by the 15th"), but things may be different this month because of the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy - SS is headquartered in New York. I take it you received the "your earnings hav been computed" e-mail?
Congratulations on your first payout.

Congratulations!
It's a shame there's not a link or a credit for your name (versus Clipcanvas). I did find Clipcanvas.com and your image (on page 2 searching via Cornwall). I wonder why they aren't featuring your clip in some way to take advantage of any traffic from Bing?

I can't get to it this morning - either it's regional or really intermittent. Either way, this has been going on (on and off) for months now.

DT is too "clever" for its own - and our - good. Sales have been pretty decent for me lately - October was up 46% over September. I have seen the odd cycles of subs vs. credit, quiet vs. busy that I don't see at any other site, but the bottom line is that
- DT is selling less than the IS partner program (in September, PP was 48% higher than DT). I have fewer images on DT, but that's largely because of their similars policies
- In October 2011, DT was 14.2% of my monthly total and this October it was 9.4%. That's a bit up from the drop to 7% earlier this year when they played silly-buggers with the pricing but increasing RPD doesn't really matter much if it doesn't boost the monthly income.
Every time they tinker, things get a bit more complicated and there they still are at the bottom of the top tier - although the IS partner program would best them if it were broken out. Heck, my SS OD downloads (not including ELs or singles/other) beat DT for October.

I think we need to keep something in perspective. If 35 or 40% is so unfair, I'm curious which sites you think treat you so much more fairly? Yes, no one likes getting a cut, but when you're happily submitting to so many other agencies giving you well under 40%, how long can you expect 123RF to ignore this competition and continue paying you 50%?...
It's not about the rate, but about the cut. I make more (by a lot) at DT each month which pays me a lower percentage than 123rf. What blows is that you sign up based on one set of terms and then they change. 123rf is not the first to move the goal posts, but given their low prices, with a decent rate and halfway decent volume, their monthly numbers were promising. Not to mention the problem that as sites start decreasing contributor returns, we have an added incentive to look elsewhere, and the relative attractiveness of even low paying sites increases. If you don't like the complaining, don't read the thread. I'll stop complaining when I no longer have anything about which to complain

He's uploaded 10K+ files since January 2012? Some sort of special arrangement must have been made for him - no 140 a week for him.
Seems as though there's a good collection of editorial images, but no, I haven't heard of him. His web site lists a very impressive list of images he's taken though.

...I understand that for the portfolio links, but why hide the port size dials under your avatar?
I dont even know how to turn that on. I didnt even know you could turn that on. But probably for the same reason. If you dont have a large port and you post your opinion you get slain for not knowing what you are talking about. [/quote] Go to the profile menu and select Forum Profile. Put your DT and SS user info into the fields provided then check the "Hide Portfolio Links" if you don't want them displayed. When you haven't been doing this for very long and don't have very many images online, you have to expect that people will point this out if your experience and view differs from someone who has been doing it for longer - or from statisticians, who know a lot about how very small sample sizes can produce unreliable results. It might feel uncomfortable, but it also feels uncomfortable to be lectured to by newcomers if you've been around the block a few times. The problem with leaving nothing is that you'll likely be treated as if you have a very small portfolio anyway, so I'm not sure it solves your problem

It was a good month - not a BME overall, but SS was a BME by 20% (last November was the previous BME). If IS hadn't been in such bad shape - down 6% over September 2012... It's important to note that I have been using StatsPlus to get my iStock sales, so I am picking up the cash sales missing from the IS stats - and it's still down. Total for the month was up 17% over Sept 2012 and 59% over October 2011 (a bit artificial as I had left exclusivity in June 2011 and was still on the climb back on other sites last year). Nevertheless, it's good to see healthy sales. I haven't grown my port much in the last few months, but I don't have numbers for that. Given the month delay in delivering PP sales, I've plugged in September's PP sales and DLs in for October as a placeholder. As my PP sales for September were up 25% over August, it may get a little better once October's actual PP sales come in (although that may be January 2013 given how they keep pushing those dates out!) SS was up 26% from September (which was up 22% from August) - fewer ELs but one big single download that made up for that DT did OK - flat, essentially with October 2011 (although my portfolio is much bigger there now as I have more of it uploaded than I did last October). It says to me that they've traded fewer downloads for higher prices per download. As a contributor I'm not sure that I'm helped by that as the money per month ends up the same. 123rf did OK - up 12% from September. Given that I haven't uploaded there for many months (since they announced their new royalty scheme) that's pretty decent. No thanks to them (why don't they include the credit totals in the earnings chart?) I have figured my credit total for the year so far and am will probably get 45% next year if I stay with them - I don't think there's a prayer that I'll make enough there this month and next to stay at 50%. Given their very heavy discounting of credit prices, 50% of already cheap images isn't all that good. I'm still hoping they'll change their minds and halt this greedy cash grab... BigStock did very nicely - up 52% from Sept (which was up from August). PhotoDune, Veer and CanStock did OK but are very inconsistent - PD was down a bit, CanStock up a bit and Veer down a bit. Alamy contributed two sales - sounds small, but my take will be $108 whenever I actually get paid, so that's not too bad

I have 50 pending from October 24th. In general, the whole batch gets reviewed at once. When I e-mailed support about 3 weeks ago, they said that reviews were out to about 10 days but they were working to get it back to 7 days. Given the delay, when they told me to categorize a photo of Easter eggs (which were hand painted) as an Illustration, I just did it, although I added to the description that it was a photograph, not an illustration. Things appear to be a bit stalled. On the good side I've had a good month there for sales

So I did a double-take just now looking at my SS stats - I have a single/other download today for $79.11!! I can't imagine what the license is for, but it's not an image that I would have thought had any sensitive aspects - this one. Some of my daughter's dress-up glasses from a few years back. It was already a BME at SS, but this is certainly most welcome

So, how long does one have to wait to insure that all the sales are reported (IS would definitely be the site I'd audit if it were in my power).
I do have a pp sale listed the second.
I think they're done. I didn't have any more PP sales added overnight. Sales were up 25% on August, so I'm pleased to see some of the slack at IS is made up
