I can see Dreamstime's idea, that it is a nice attraction to bring in buyers, but it is a rotten idea for artists.

for them too

I just sold my largest image, at maximum size.  Subscription, 35 cents.   How can I properly express my enthusiasm for this marketing plan?

I guess it depends on what you consider good or bad. Some think 50 DL's a month is amazing ...others a 1000 or 2000.

or per day

dont agree, they are on track for a good month (6 week days left)
don't agree with what? That some contributors are not having a good month? You do not make sense - it differs from contributor to contributor and is sometimes very much just related to the flavor of the month. Even with 6 days to go I am not even on one fifth of last month.

thats not what I said, please read your comment, "Unfortunately also a very bad month"

I recommend the MkI human eyeball for 'calibration'. It's well proven and it's most definitely what buyers will be using when they decide which images to buy.

I was guessing you only shoot and keyword, you do need a monitor but the calibration I am not understanding

My advice: Don't care. Just upload to a lot of places (this way all of your images are avalaible for download at least at some sites), never look what has been accepted or rejected, especially not the reasons behind the rejections. Just keep stuff you KNOW is good and stop worrying.

never enjoyed a post of yours, today you are spot on, hope you let me in your humble house :)

I am starting to abominate some folks, I am getting quite pissed about photographers telling that stock is this and that, come on, whats the difficult of getting some pictures online?? isolations, people?? zero, zero, zero! the hard part is to continue the supply while agencies they keep on screwing us, the problem aint producing the pictures, they dont have to be insanely good to get approved (just need to be average), tons of crap approved, isolations not done properly, backgrounds not cleaned, tons of white space, flat lighting, etc etc (and I am not talking about making big bucks, you can say that some upload a lot to earn just a few bucks etc but in the hand thats not even your business, what the heck do you guys know about others life, etc etc, you guys are just a bunch of bullys that wont go anywhere beside in your own head)

one day some say stock is art, other say stock aint art, stock is nothing, etc etc I really dont get some people in this industry but for sure they have something behind that ridiculous speech

this comment aint intended to you stockastic, you are just getting into a phase, it will go away, if you say you dont need help I do believe in that, I understand perfectly what you are saying, you, myself dont need workshops/books from the stock shooters that pretend to be in the top of the world, I love humble people maybe that why I get upset with some attitudes

I have a question about Getty: how can I become a contributor there?
I was checking the site out, but only find a way to registrate as buyer.

dont know much but I guess there are a few options:
- flickr
- IS exclusivity
- having files in an agency that has getty as a partner

if anyone knows I would love to hear about it

you dont look ok I do know you from here and you never seem positive.. if you arent happy and you arent willing to shoot other subjects I would leave, if you arent having good returns (sales trend etc) I would change or leave, there arent many options, if I wasnt dealing with all agencies I wouldnt be doing stock and trying every month, they are all part of the income, I am sure you were at FT and 123RF but you quit?

wish you the best

« on: October 22, 2011, 01:20 »
I am a nobody but it does look worrying, I wonder what may be the reason for such "trend", how many variables do exist in stock or IS?

no constant or less uploading? best match changes? buyers bailing? more contributors? economic crisis? files in thinkstock? looking for cheaper pics (not exclusive ones)?

the real thing is that when contributors go really high, it must (dont know but I guess) be a lot hard to maintain the momentum but on the other hand, those files shouldnt never go back, is there any statistic regarding new pictures sales? (I do have always over 10 sales of the latest 20 on pictures that never sold before but I am not a high seller and dont have a picture there that was sold many times, I am talking about 70 sales per month)

« on: October 20, 2011, 16:08 »
I don't spend hours working on the site.  It probably takes less than 1 minute a month.  I don't know any burger places that pay 10-20$/month for one minutes work.  I can also not do anything with the site for a year and it still earns me money.

Well then I'd like to know the secret of uploading for instance 30 files/month (which is really not a lot, but my average lately), attaching various releases and completing the upload process after that. And of course I never do it all at once, it's a batch a week. It sure doesn't take an hour or more, but it does at least 5 minutes each time. Earning as it is now, 5$/month with the prospect of earning 10-20$ is really not what I signed up for. And all the bugs and glitches, leading to reuploding easily makes it an hour or two, especially if you have to ask questions about it in the forum, like I had to. As many glithces as at IS at its worst, but for a fraction of return.

never had a glitch or bug at CanStockPhoto, one of the best agency regarding fast submission, great support also, they are my 9th $$ agency with 1.8% of my total earnings, if they had glitches I wouldnt submit
