upsizing not needed for a while now.. I wish they had a faster submission

Really?
I knew they reduced required size from 16 MP to 8 MP (from 48 to 24 MB in their weird units)
But I thought they still allowed upsizing to 8 MP, since they say:
"Images from at least a 6 megapixel DSLR or more"
http://www.alamy.com/contributor/help/prepare-images.asp

my last batch was a while ago but I know that is was a little over 8MP, thats was the only requirement now it is 6 :)

yes 2, 3 times more I guess which can be explained in part by the much higher acceptance rate

yep and the 100% royalties for students too, I really need to spend more time there

they added 2 millions pictures in four months not bad, almost double the amount that SS added if my calculations are right

I would say Alamy much more than double perhaps close to 3 times! SS doesnnt have 100k per week for a while if I am not wrong too...

given these 3 facts together... why don't they open a regular "micro" section - clearly separated from their "macro" section - with normal upload (no question asked, no categories), every picture checked, and NO upsizing? It's useless to have difficult upload and then sell at micro prices

upsizing not needed for a while now.. I wish they had a faster submission

they still have a quite boring upload, iptc aint imported to the right place and then tons of questions, quite time consuming but I do plan to "work" more there despite 4 sales, 15$ and 700 files for 8 months

ed: Alamy Registrations from photographers are up by 10% in the last two months from our average monthly trends.

Site Related / Re: Should MSG require confirmed identities?
« on: October 16, 2011, 18:18 »
I think the compromise again is identities known by Tyler for the purposes of registering accounts only. that way anyone worried about agency or contributor retaliation can worry less.

That of course assumes we completely trust the administrators of this forum.

LOL more than agencies no???

Upsss.. it's happening  ;D

Last 2 batch's not appearing on search, gallery. But still getting sales...

They are fixing it ( said on forum ) and already send an email with ID's

I really dont understand how they cannot solve this once for all, very annoying

Bigstock.com / Re: To pull the plug at BigStock or not...?
« on: October 15, 2011, 10:08 »
I stopped uploading at BigStock many months ago because I didn't see any improvement in my sales despite adding at least 100 new images monthly. Their sales are very low, I get a payout  every 7-9 months and that's bad.

I havent stopped uploading but I am in the same "foot" only had 5 months over 10$ (since April 2009) I do enjoy the late change regarding min payout for 30$ instead of the 50$'s but yes sales are very disappointing

191 sales for $175.50 (2 years and half, over 4k files)

Yes, absolutely! It could also be an identity that is private but confirmed by Leaf.
I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I wouldn't have a problem with that, either.

But I am a member on another forum where the owner asks for the true identity and keeps it private. And believe me, the tone on that forum is not more civilized than here.  ::)

what is it? I wanna join :)

Yuri is also sponsoring the use of 10 of his camera's to people who cannot afford their own

I don't think "ironic undertone" works in a forum.  If you're being funny in real life, people can see it but when you write something nasty about someone, they only see the words.  It looked personal and I didn't like it.  We usually use this sort of humour with our friends that know us well, it can be hard to interpret for people that have never met you.  There's also the language, culture and humour differences.

And when you don't like what others think about you, we get this "Frustration, jealousy, bitterness and anger, is nowdays the criteria of the MSG".  I think people were angry at the insults you wrote, nothing else.

spot on, people should look at their own first :)

DepositPhotos / Re: New Pay As You Go Pricing from DepositPhotos
« on: October 13, 2011, 18:48 »
While we are on the topic of DepositPhotos pricing, I got this email from them today, about a sale. Since I've only gotten subs up to this point and had very few files with them I haven't had much activity.

So the email starts out:

"DepositPhotos: File Sold by Bonus"

The email looks like regular none sub "M" sized file that sold for $2.00.

What's throwing me here is the word "bonus". Is this a bonus for something or is this just cute language for a regular download.

Thx

bonus is a sale from a promotion

As in it showed up in a ad of their's and someone downloaded it? Thanks Luis

no, it is a promotion, like a discount that they gave to "potential/future" buyers

Do they count subs as one download or are they doing that the FT way as well?

have tried that and nop, it is close to it but it aint 4

just found the math: subs / 4 and SMS x2

returned sales count for the total on profile but not for the math

I'll go back up and read Leaf's post in a moment.  Here's the ranking levels.

LOL I wasnt talking about that (actually was) but I was thinking about "some" contributors rank :)

I hate to do this but I would love to hear about the ranking levels at DP :)

is there an email to ask for special requests??

5173
lets face it, sales are very weak but the upload is one of the fastest of the industry, I dont see a downside of submitting at least a big part of your portfolio, I do agree more advertising is needed, I keep on thinking about the money you guys got from IS/GI (not my business but sure it would help raising SF) overall I believe more will come once we talk here about regular sales, we do need agencies with 50% commission!

New Sites - General / Re: iRockStock?
« on: October 12, 2011, 10:53 »
I'd say in a few weeks iStock will make sure that this site won't be around anymore.

Not only is the name a cheap rip off but also the site design and layout as well. No idea if iStock has an easy case there but I think they have a bigger financial punch to keep such fuddy duddies out of their way.

it is open since June or before, I dont belive IS will close it down, not that I would be worried but hey at least they pay 40% even if there arent any sales, perhaps we should all contribute to this "new" agencies trying to pull buyers into better royalties, they were 30% a while ago and they have increased to 40% and also the price of the content, I am sure the owner will show up and talk about it

5175
they have told here a while ago they will be "pushing" emerals and above to the min price allowed for buyers, hope I made myself clear :)
