I posted this in here a while ago, still use it, you stick the CF card in that device and transfer the images, works fine for me:
"1. Get a Digimate, thats what I have 40GB storage, very light and is working on a battery. Mine is called Smart portable storage Digimate 2, it is an me2 device. You also can get them with more storage. Mine was a 100 Euro half a year ago. Here the technical data and a picture.. http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch.hmx?SCriteria=AA35360" 528

I think thats good news. I doubt that iS will loose a lot of customers. And I do not think the last price increase has hurt iS growth at all. My guess is we will continue to see price increases throughout the microstock industry for the next years.

I do not know how much comments or rating count, but I do know views count, especially when the image is new. The healthy drink image you commented on Gregor (Thanx for that!) which I posted in here got 7 Dls already, because it showed up pretty high in the search and still is. (It was a new image)
I rated commented on yours :-). Here is my next: Be careful after looking at it you might get hungry, if yes then its a good image and its purpose is fullfilled ![]() http://www.stockxpert.com/browse.phtml?f=view&id=7325921 530
Cameras / Lenses / Re: 1000 = What camera to buy?« on: December 06, 2007, 04:59 »
I would go with a used Canon 20D, if it still is too expensive go with a used Canon 10D. You can get them quite cheap now on e-bay. Then I would definetely buy the Canon 50mm 1.8. It is excellent quality for 100 Euro or Dollar, depends where you live. It's a must have, if you have no money but want a bit of quality.
After that you will still have a lot of money left.If you buy zoom lenses go with quality.Probably you will not have enough money left to get the 24-105L lense. The next would be the EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS which I suppose is good but not a lot cheaper than the 24-105. (You cannot use this one on the 10D). I would either take Nikon or Canon, they are known to be good and you have more lenses available then other manufactors. 531

I like this one of yours Rozmaryna, it's also fitting for the season: http://www.stockxpert.com/browse.phtml?f=view&id=6146741.
I just created a new image, the first one, where I used two off camera flashes. Using them off camera is such a nice thing. It took me some time for the right lightning and some editing on PS, but here is the result, what do you think? http://www.stockxpert.com/browse.phtml?f=view&id=7166061 532

I fear that will be very very bad for me, since I am a niche photographer with almost all my good sellers in the top 100 search results of one particular niche. And they were there, because they are one of the best of this particular niche and not because I cheated the system. :-(

Featurepics.com / Re: Interview with Elena of FP« on: November 23, 2007, 03:29 »
Yes you are right it is not so simple, IS was first and therefore has a lot more customers, but don't you think they are using the most of the money to invest it again, to let the site grow, to market their business? Certainly they have an advantage there. I think the gap to agencies like dreamstime who give a high royalty and are not backed up like Stockxpert or Snapvillage will widen. For me DT is falling back almost every month towards all the other big agencies, although I have the most images there.

Featurepics.com / Re: Interview with Elena of FP« on: November 22, 2007, 05:00 »
Honestly I do not mind anymore so much about the percentage we receive. I earn the most with the agency which gives the photographer the lowest percentage but earn the least with the agency which gives the photographer the highest percentage. I have been at FP pretty long almost the same time as on IS. But I have not received a payout on FP contrary to IS where I can have more than one payout every month. It seems that we photographers often think. "Wait a moment, the agency receives 80% but we only 20%, that not fair". But they invest a big part of the 80% in marketing and use the money to run the agency. This comes back to us in many more 20% sales.
If DT or StockXpert decided to lower the percentage to 40% and invest the extra 10% they get in marketing, I would not mind. If I get 90% from one agency and have a sale in a year or a thousand sales from another agency where I only get 10% I definately would choose the agency which gives me only 10%. 536
Photoshop Discussion / Re: problem with isolating objects« on: November 19, 2007, 15:17 »
I learned to isolate in a proper way from leaf. He posted how to do it in this thread: http://www.microstockgroup.com/index.php?topic=232.0 That helped me a lot. Before that I did not know how to isolate. It is not the fast way, but you can use the technique in Photoshop Elements and they accept the images at istock if you do it this way.

Hey, great idea, I will look into it! Just a sidenote, if you give a loan to a woman, you are more likely to receive it back. Thats what I heard on the subject of microloans

I am doing isolations with Photoshop Elements 2. And they get accepted. So Elements 5 should be ok. Do not buy CS2 just to isolate objects! I agree with the others. It probably depends on your technique not on Photoshop.

Photoshop Discussion / Re: Lab mode and curves« on: November 15, 2007, 05:30 »
I had a similar problem. In my case I had the color management optimized for print, which gave the image a stronger red tone. When I switched it back to no optimization, it went normal again. Color management optimization is translated from German photoshop, so I am not sure if that is the right term for the English photoshop.

Wow thats great! Congrats to StockXpert and the lucky photographer! Maybe you guys at StockXpert should include an Exclusive rights sale option, similar to the one which Dreamstime has. If buyers see this they might be more inclined to use this option.

Off Topic / Re: What do you think of your healthcare?« on: November 10, 2007, 13:17 »I am typing this with one arm - yesterday was in clinic in Germany to get metal pins removed from an old elbow fracture. Being from Canada, and having seen some rather dirty European hospitals before, i was a bit hesitant. I was told that there is actually a sort of caste system in Germany - Sorry to hear about your arm. Well yes there is private and public insurance, but personally I think there should not be such a big difference. The private insured have more benefits of course like having a room for them alone or shorter waiting times or so, but I do not think the difference is huge. You will get what you need. Maybe Germany has not the best health care system I agree, but it is still one of the richest countries in the world and Germanies doctors are well trained. I do not see a problem, that they do not have the tools they need or the medicine or the cleanliness of the hospitals. The problem with German healthcare is that there are not enough nurses and doctors, because they want to lower the costs. I do not think an operation on a private insured person is different than on a public insured person. (I am German by the way) 543

I did not calculate it exactly but I think my earnings are between 50 and 60 cents per month/image on SS, with ELs probably arround 75 cents. With this it is my second best earner.

General - Top Sites / Re: October earnings breakdown« on: November 02, 2007, 03:34 »
Overall about 50% increased earnings, to previous BME.
30% increase of Microstock earnings, 19% because of Alamy earnings. Increased earnings and BME for IS, DT, FT, StockXpert, CS, 123RF ,less than BME: SS,PM, BS and LO.Non the less good month on SS (Probably month with most dls) IS did a big jump despite having already very high earnings last month. Great month, with surprising results. Hope the trend goes on ![]() 548
