I am new to stock photography and would like to see your most marketable or popular image based upon the number of actual downloads. Here is mine with a reminder that I've only been doing stock for 3 1/2 months. "Wagon Mound" http://www.dreamstime.com/modify.php?imageid=3580146Mark

I think Fotolia has tightened up quite a bit on their reviewing in the last two months.

Hi All. I show that I have .42 under credit earnings for 1 image. I presume this is my first sale at 123rf.com however, I can't seem to find an area of where I can see what images have been downloaded. Anyway ... its great to have a first sale on 123rf even if I can't find it Mark

Mark,
I don't see any cons. The resizing option is like what we have in most microstock sites. The business extension is like EL, but it is very variable according to the usage (number of resale items, for instance).
Regards, Adelaide
So in all cases it would be better to select RF+Business Extension when possible? Mark

With FPs very high acceptance rate, at least upon occasion, they will have material from a particular contributor that has not been accepted elsewhere. This type of image should definitely command a fair price that is set upon it.
Additionally, I plan to submit to FP first. I even plan some lead time before submitting those images to other sites for the outside chance of getting a premium before it is is "marked down" by submitting it to other micros.
Lastly, there will be the random people that you direct to FP from your own promotion of it (this will be where FP shines) that don't have an account elsewhere or are just satisfied to shop at the first place they've stopped for convenience sake (how many people have bought a car at the first place they've stopped?)

All,
What are the pros and cons of selecting RF+Business Extension as a selling option (with resizing) on featurepics?
I would appreciate everyones opinion on their pricing and selection currently using featurepics.

I've had no sales there with more images there than most other places. I'm stopping uploading due to 400 day clause.
Mark
P.S. I still love the site and upload process, however, they will have to prove they can generate the sales before I upload anything more to them.

Can you use images that were previously on the micros and selling well (take them down as possible) for submission to Alamy Portfolio?

I would presume that one must upload images to Alamy that are not uploaded anywhere else in order for them to sell for higher prices?
Any suggestions on how to go about this?
What is the application process like at Alamy?
Thanks

I am now on Featurepics and am considering submitting all of my images to them first due to their favorable pricing model.

I have started uploading there as well.
I'm new to the setting your own price model ... Does anyone have any advice for these? The same photos are posted elsewhere, but I can see where it might be worth it to post to FP first and delay on the other on the chance that I get a sale there before they hit the other sites ...
Any advice regarding a pricing strategy when I'm currently active on around 6 sites or so ...

I as well would like to hear some real life examples of DLs per day compared to # of images in portfolio at the time when it comes to Shutterstock ...
Can anyone help us out with some stats?

55 accepted with only 5 rejections since 12/10 for me Now I can only hope there will be sales to follow ... I really like the way their "history" and "portfolio" features are laid out. Mark

hmmmmmmm ... everyone here must've missed the part where I said: "First off I will say this ... I DO PLAN TO BUY DSLR probably by end of spring. I've been pricing everything in the area on Craig's list. I plan to go to DSLR by May when I receive my bounus from work." The SX100 is to be my new "everywhere" camera. In the meantime, I will use the next few months getting use to the manual controls that I have available with this new model. Here is a link to specs and reviews: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/canon_sx100is.aspPersonal Experience with it so far: 10x zoom (360mm) is everything I had hoped for in this new "super zoom" category of point-n-shoot / prosumer type of camera The aperture priority and shutter priority manual settings are excellent. The 8 mega pixels will allow me a little extra cropping room and still be able to upload "large" images. I have received the first approval of my first submissions with it on BigStock, and I am awaiting approval of the same image on DT for a first comparison. Here's a link to one of my initial test images: http://www.bigstockphoto.com/photo/view/2439270I have read many comments about how bad the kit lens is the with the Digital Rebel. It is my hope, that when I do buy the DSLR in May or so (most likely on Craig's List) ... that I will go straight to a better lens with which to start and possibly straight to something better than a low end DSLR. I just need to make sure that my skills are up to par in order to warrant the cash outlay come May. Mark

Rjphoto
I went back in there today and the photos I had uploaded are still in "pending" approval status. I am still able to upload. It appears they've allowing uploads but may be stacking them up in the queue ... I don't know what they're doing.
I'm just prepared to wait another month ...
In the meantime, I will upload and replace those amongst my ten if I feel I have better new material as long as it allows me to upload. They may still need to review 10 so I think I'll keep it there ...

Thanks again for all of the help guys. I have recently made several improvements to my efforts: # Upgraded my version of Neat Image (now I can save my metadata if noise reduction is necessary) # Downloaded Microsoft's photo info for windows explorer. # Editing all metadata ONLY ONCE prior to FTP or form upload later adding only verifying and adding categories or model releases. I am now doing once what I was doing multiple times before. Thanks Sharply and everyone else who put it bluntly or otherwise ! I am here to learn # and perhaps most importantly gave myself a minimal upgrade in equipment until I go full blown DSLR in May. I am now testing Canon's new Powershot SX100 with IS. So far its been amazing for its price Mark

Thanks guys for all the advice. Here's "the plan" that I've come up with ... First off I will say this ... I DO PLAN TO BUY DSLR probably by end of spring. I've been pricing everything in the area on Craig's list. I plan to go to DSLR by May when I receive my bounus from work. After TONS of comparison shopping for a bridge until I get a quality DSLR, I purchased the new Canon SX100 (new model product line as of Aug2007). I am absolutely amazed with its results so far and at least appears that it will more than suit my needs until May. Then it can pull the duty of the back-up or everywhere camera. My primary reasons for it being my ultimate choice: (10x Optical Zoom) Image Stabilization (already I can tell the difference) Aperture Priority Shutter Priority Manual Focus Mode Got it for $240.00at Best Buy after applying $35.00 in rewards certificates The 10X will come in handy on my bus trip from Seattle to Colorado Springs. Leaveing in a few hours ... Mark
