The other tool you have is to download a CSV file which will show your daily total downloads and $$ from the partner program.  To find out which site, you need to look at the download information file by file, as noted above.

So they've backed out both the erroneous payments from today, but my balance decreased by less than expected. I checked the PP and that added May 22nd's money, but even accounting for that, the numbers didn't add. Then my balance dropped by another $1.16 but even with that the numbers don't add up. I've been keeping screenshots today with today's sales and the balance at the bottom of the window in cae there's a chance of making sense of what's going on (and in particular having evidence if they suddenly take away much more than the $29.30 they added today by mistake).

If anyone has more at stake than $30, I'd strongly suggest you try to track what they're doing so you can ensure you're not losing money on this snafu.

I've checked the daily and monthly CSV plus today's sales via the my_uploads page and so far can't make anything add up correctly.

IS has once again messed up the books. There are many contributors affected - and the first "Royalty Adjustment" e-mail was larger than it should have been and full of other contributor's files. The second one was at least our own files, but was a duplicate of one sent out April 19 2012

Couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery! See the help thread for the official status.

Congrats. I had one of these this month too. I was a bit confused on what it was. Is there a list somewhere of all the different licenses people can buy?

Unfortunately, there isn't. They promised they'd explain on their blog and when they posted here that the blog was updated, it just said (paraphrasing) custom licenses. IOW we never get to know what they've licensed for that fee. I think that's a problem, but no one else seemed concerned...

The last few days have been much better - but I've often had a few good days preceding "Subscription Fridays". Need to see how things play out overall before I get too excited that they've turned things around.

It's a nice behind the scenes video - thanks. Wouldn't persuade me to eat their food though :)

So support got back to me today and they don't see any adjustments to my balance, so they think it's just a known display bug. I replied that this wasn't two different pages showing different amounts, but the same page (the balance at the bottom of the browser window) going down during the day, which seemed to be a different issue.

They replied that they checked into my account and no refunds (beyond one from yesterday morning I received e-mail about) were issued. I don't feel that this is a good explanation for a balance going down (versus going up one place earlier than it does another, which we've seen before when the various Akamai servers are out of sync), but I don't think there's much else I can do except watch things and take screen captures...

As an aside, both e-mail responses were prefaced with an apology for the delay in responding - which wasn't necessary as I only submitted this ticket this morning - so I think it must now be boilerplate text in their responses :)

Dreamstime.com / Re: DT review process
« on: June 20, 2012, 19:05 »
...It's quite simple really.  The person who reviewed the image at DT was a woman and rejected it for poor lighting.  The person who reviewed the image at BS was a man and put the image through because it resembles a pair of boobs.

The male reviewer has been hanging out with some very strange women... :)

The shadows are hard and dark and the colors don't really sing - rocks are a bit muted and sky almost navy blue instead of a deep bright blue.  Big stock isn't all that picky as the agencies go, so getting it accepted there doesn't really indicate it'll fly with other agencies.

Post processing could probably have helped, but shooting at a different time of day would make the biggest difference

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Model Release Shoot Location Required
« on: June 20, 2012, 11:04 »
I have a "universal" release of my own creation that IS accepts - it has a shoot description field in which I put things like "At the beach, Maine" or "At the park" for the location part of the description and so far I have not had problems. I think it needs to be specific enough that it's clear what's being released, but doesn't need street address or GPS coordinates :)

5336
A couple of hours ago my balance went down by about $7 even though one more sale is showing than had been earlier. No refund notice (I had one earlier in the day when a customer apparently wanted a larger size which is about the only good kind of refund!).

AFAIK the PP can't make the total run in reverse :) Has anyone else seen their balance go backwards this afternoon/evening?

ETA: This morning I submitted a support ticket to ask about this - no refund e-mail for this, but I have been getting them for other refunds (i.e. it's not a general problem of not getting mails). It really is bad that the on site information doesn't have complete records of every debit or credit to the account...

General Stock Discussion / Re: Sales @ 9 Oh Goody!
« on: June 19, 2012, 16:35 »
Not sure if it's good news or bad, but if that's IS, that's not a subscription! Take a look at this thread where others have been venting about the horrendously low royalties with low IS rates and discounted credits.

IS forums are now pretty tumbleweed strewn places - largely because they lock and/or delete so many threads. If you search here, however, you'll see other threads on the topic of agency discounts and how it affects our royalties.

5338
I had been keeping an eye on this thread, but figured this ridiculous business idea would fall flat pretty quickly because no one selling stock would take them seriously or contribute any images to them.

I'm not all that comfortable about Leaf changing the topic title. Now there's a neutral title, pages of back and forth discussion and I think this is obscuring the bottom line.

Don't under any circumstances give your intellectual property (images, illustrations, etc.) to an outfit that doesn't have public information about who they are and has all the attributes in their public presence of the snake oil salesman of old.

Another contributor was (a while ago, when support was bad, but better than now) opined that one could set up customer service that just told everyone "F@ck you!" and still have better support than IS :)

^ You want them to let you back on their forum so that you can slag them off over there too ?

ETA: ubiquitous :)

I think if you bother to look back at my many IS forum posts the bulk of them were constructive, even when critical.

I wouldn't bother making any comments - critical or positive - in the moribund iStock forums, but would like to be able to use the help forum to report or ask about problems. Given all the money they're making from me, and the fact that one slightly sarcastic comment (about an iStock policy, not any sort of personal attack) has had me banned for almost a year, I think this is excessive.

Did you have a point other than just wishing to be rude about my comment here that customer service is non-existent for contributors? Whether the answer is yes or no, saying something - anything - within 6 weeks is a pretty reasonable request in my opinion. I am paying their salaries and they are just ignoring a support ticket.

Can someone please tell me that this is a coincidence.

I don't use their forums at all and still have managed to sell, so I hope it is just a coincidence.

Veer / Re: Your Veer portfolio on Alamy
« on: June 15, 2012, 09:25 »
I don't see my Veer images there any more either. So that's good.

Aren't we still waiting for some word on the compensation model for partner agencies (like pocketstock.com.mx) and some policy on opting out of partnerships like the Veer/Alamy one?

DT has problems - this week has been awful - but I think they're broader than just pushing cop contributors to the back. As BaldricksTrousers noted, I too have images that show up high in searches but aren't selling any more.

To give you an idea of how pitiful this week has been, Thursday's take was twice Wednesday's even though both were only one sale each - a 70 cent sub vs. 35. That's just pathetic

I think it's about time new contributors get a fair chance and not just those riding on the fact the fact they become big fast and get better search placements just because of their reputation. Lots of high ranked contributors were and still are selling garbage and that's just wrong (and I'm talking about diamond or even BD rank of contributors). They wouldn't earn even 500$ a month if they started a couple of years ago. That being said both are and always wefe pathetic for me, although I'm getting BMEs lately

This is just bollocks.

It's important to have a good search algorithm that gives new work a decent chance to be seen amidst the old best sellers. This has nothing to do with new contributors vs. old. I'm a new contributor to DT, in effect, because I only came back last June after a stint as an exclusive. Things were going fine for a while until they broke search trying to improve it and started messing with prices.

And as far as people selling garbage, there's a ton of it on the micros - lots from new contributors as well as older files from an earlier era.

Can't comment on FT as they wouldn't have me back :)

And Brian - or anyone else from Veer - is completely MIA with respect to updates or assurances via the forum. I appreciate that he acknowledged earlier that they'd messed up the communications, but I assumed that meant they were going to change that, not continue with the mushroom management techniques
A little trick learned from another agency.  :(

It's a bit like kids - they rarely copy one another's good behaviors, only the reprehensible ones :)

Veer / Re: Did the upload limits change?
« on: June 13, 2012, 11:33 »
I emailed support the other day and just got this response a few moments ago.

Hi Anita,

We sometimes make changes to submission limits in order to keep a balance between editor workload and review time.

Regards,

Ryan
Contributor Service

So are there still those of you that still have 50 as your limit?

Yes, but I've halted uploading until they sort out the Alamy (and other partner program) mess

This morning I received a reply from SS support (seems a bit sluggish to me to take just over a week to reply) saying they'd forward my information to the right department "...they will see what they can do, and take action as soon as they can."

The site is still there, along with the image that's on SS...

What a boring looking site!

And what value are they adding exactly? Fewer images (tropical beach yielded 4 images and 3 illustrations, none of which were very excliting) and no special assist in locating what a buyer might need.

This reminds me of some Christmas Carol singers who came to our door one year when I was a kid. It appeared they were singing, but when we opened the door there was  click as they shut off the tape player and held out their hand for money!

... Well now that they went public, it's a lot easier for Getty to acquire them.

They haven't gone public, just filed with the SEC saying they intend to. After the mess of the Facebook IPO they may postpone.
